Good morning, Everybody!

Good morning all. A warm, sunny day.

Oh the life of a young sportsman. One of our grandson's has a cabinet of trophies he has won at playing soccer. Yesterday he was awarded the 'Best Football Player in the League Award'.
He then announced he was 'retiring from playing football'. Retiring at 8 years old!!!

His other sporting interest is basketball and he is training at Newcastle Eagles Basketball Club.

Good morning Crew. It looked great out at 5:45 but I should have checked the temperature before heading out for the “walk”. 49f degrees standing there checking the temperature in short sleeves because it seemed cold! Well, it was…. A bit on the slow side to startup but I ended up at 56 minutes for 3 miles.

Today is inventory day in the train room for myself but most importantly the insurance. Once a year I put an inventory sheet in the file Terry keeps for all insurances. Renewal for us on personal, the house and businesses is August. Since Terry will be mostly gone till then, today is the day.

I have had a flurry of weathering sales in the last couple of weeks. I did start selling on EBay in May using a friend’s account. Only 6 of the 10 items listed sold. 5 were weathered graffiti items done with decals and did ok. The 6th item was a custom painted graffiti car that I am in shock what it went for. The 4 items that did not sell were medium weathered with no graffiti. What did happen though is all my weathering sales for the month went up. There is seemingly no rhyme or reason to figuring out what will sell or not. While my listings on Facebook still are my main source for new sales, the messages from those ads asking if I have anything else are almost always a sale. I have been asked more lately if I have any UP, BN and Rio Grande equipment to sell. I didn’t. I was mainly doing what I use on my layout, the Midwestern trains. We shall see when I get back what will have arrived on the front porch. I know there will be at least 2 retail therapy sessions online while I am traveling. I get bored in Paradise rather quickly. Weathering production has ceased until I return June 16th.

enjoy the day

Good Morning All!

61F @ 81% and looks to be clear in pre-dawn.

We quit yesterday bout 1500 after the chimney appeared in piles on the ground. Have dust everywhere even though we tried to abate it as much as possible. Guess that it is part of the game. Did the chimney when we did as it was not supposed to rain until Wednesday. Well, guess what? Anyway, the roof is patched and complete. I don't remember if I told y'all or not - I searched for the same pattern of tin for the roof for a couple of days with no luck. Geesh, went out looking for some roof felt yesterday; low and behold there were 2 pieces of the exact pattern in the rafters of the barn lean-to along with top cap. Not the same color, but who cares as we are planning a new roof in the next year or so.

This AM doing clean up as there still is debris in the upstairs room we were working on before the chimney came down. Then finish taking out the last tongue and groove wall and a dump run. Supposed to get to almost 70 today, so we should be able to work longer upstairs - no insulation ... remember? I do not think that I have ever push-broomed a roof before to get rid of the bits and pieces! Oh well, rain will get the little stuff.

Propane: Switching companies as Amerigas is a real PITA. Maria can not pay the bill when she calls them as she is not on the account. What? Why would they care who pays the bill? Geesh, her last name is the same as mine and lives at the same address too. On top of that, they are charging us a yearly for tank rental. Ok, I understand that, but it is more than twice the yearly of the new company ( City Service Valcon ) and a bigger tank. Also note that we can go to the local office an pay if needed whereas the AG office closed during the China Virus and has/will not open again. The pile on the North side needs to dis-appear as the Propane company is supposed to come by this week and I need to dig ditches for the gas pex to go into.

Thank you all for your kind words on my dehydration issue. Way better yesterday and so far this AM. Got dehydration retarder as apparently water does not work fast enough anymore. I like Gatorade anywho, don't even suggest Pedia-lite. Also have blood sugar adjusters beside OJ and Gatorade. Dang doughnuts anyway.

y'all be good now -ya hear?

Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and 59°, the warmup has begun. Looks like lower to mid-80's all week after the seasonally cooler weekend. Might rain Wednesday.

Worn out this morning, after a day in the yard with my two grandsons yesterday. They gathered up all of the brush/limbs that I trimmed from about 75 trees last week, and made one large pile.

Next step for me is sorting through and removing firewood sized pieces and shredding the rest.
Meanwhile on the other side of the yard I removed a maple tree that failed to survive for who knows why?

I was expecting this as it lost all of it's leaves last summer.
During the day, I was visited twice by the local cropduster, turning his plane overhead while spraying fertilizer on a nearby field. This has been a twice a year ritual for over 40 years. Same plane but it used to be his Dad piloting.

This fellow is not as brave as Dad, who used to fly under the wires on the nearby power poles. It's always a sight to see when he is in action though.

While I did make it out to the train shed yesterday, it wasn't for too long. I planted a few of the trees that I have been rehabbing. I also staged a few trains for local trains, but my wife wanted to go out to eat so there was not time to run them.
Here's another business in Maultown, Oakleaf Shipping & Storage.

Guy - Good news about the fires. Great looking duck picture. I never tire of your railcar pictures, as authorities there seem more tolerant of close-ups.
Terry -
Please stop creating new user accounts.
Not again?
Joe - i was amused by your "paperless" comment. Reminds me off working in the late 80's-early 90's. The intent was good but it allowed extensive reports like we had never seen before, which when printed were anything but paperless!
Patrick - Garden is looking good.

All have a great day, and keep healthy.

Morning all,

55° and clear, high later of 77°.

Off today to get the wife to an upper GI appointment.

Chad: How big is that house? I know you may have said earlier, but looks likes it's coming along. Once it's weather tight, it won't seem like much is happening as fast.

The main floor is about 3250 - 3300 sq ft equivalent (I say equivalents since the walls are thicker so there is no more floor square footage than a 3250-3300 sq ft framed house with 2x6 walls) plus the garage of something like 1234 sq ft (yes the plans say something like that -- I am not just typing the numbers in a row). The extra space above the garage is around 1800 sq ft and is "because" -- need to have a place for the train room (which is the big square room up there).

All the needed living space is on the main floor, so when I get old and decrepit (already starting to feel decrepit) I won't have to go up and down stairs for anything.

The main floor has 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bathrooms, 1 bath only room (Japanese bath style with wet room shower and soaking tub -- no toilet). There is also a laundry room, an open space living room/kitchen/dining area, and a small sitting room at the front of the house for unexpected guests etc.

The basement has a guest bedroom and lots of store rooms and misc use rooms plus the rooms under the garage for my hobby use since the wife said I was limited to the space under the garage -- I made sure the garages were nice and big :)
