Morning all,

Firing up the first of the new servers this morning. Nothing better than a shiny new computer running on 2 year old hardware...lol It's a virtual, so there's nothing to see here, move along...lol

56° and mostly cloudy with a chance of rain and storms for the next 36 hours. But the weather models show it may stay to our south. Rain predictions are below 1/2 inch if we get the storms. I did water the garden last night. At this point about 45 minutes every other day seems about right.

About 45 minutes with this little jewel gets enough water in a 9ft x 9ft area. I have 2 of these running around. I think they're a good sprinkler for a small area or to let the grandkids run through.

BBL...

Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and 58° in my part of Texas this morning. So the weather forecast has changed again, with thunderstorms now added back in for today and tomorrow. Tomorrow's storms are predicted to bring a rapid warming trend up to 95° on Friday and Saturday! Of course we'll now get some rain since I irrigated the garden yesterday morning. Right now it looks to be raining between me and Patrick across OK.

Must be the weekly grocery/beer trek day today, the fridge is bare! Sam's Club is on the list for a minor repair on my glasses and a few supplies that we normally get there. I think that my wife has the Wine Store on the agenda as well.

Spent most of the day yesterday shopping for a new to us used vehicle. Wife had found one that she liked at a price that she liked so we went down to Dallas to check it out. It was a certified pre-owned 2020 Lexus RX, with just 20K miles on it. Everything was OK, except it was too dark blue. In Texas, you just don't drive dark colored cars in the summer, at least we don't. The sales guy found some others that were similar on their lot. We ended up settling on a 2020 Lexus RX350. Bigger engine and maybe better interior. It looked better to me. 3K more miles and $3K higher in price. We offered the same price as the original one and ended up getting it for $1K more. Could have waited for a few more hours and driven it home yesterday, but chose instead to come back Saturday to pick it up when we were coming back to town anyway. Payment: They wouldn't accept credit cards (we wanted the points), so I had to use the debit card. Curiously I asked if they ever took real cash and he said yes! The reason that I asked is that our bank asked if we needed to withdraw cash; they needed to have enough on hand. I said no because $48K would have gotten questions and paperwork from the government! A cashiers check came with a $65 fee and a wire transfer cost $150. Debit card was no fee. Not sure what the difference between a wire transfer and a debit purchase is?

After returning home, I had a walk-thru of the garden. Looks good. Tomato plants growing well.

shoes walk outside on soil and bacteria on animal poop etc it dries out in houses become dust and asthma like symptoms etc or moulds can take hold.

Guy - I hope that you do get some good pictures of the damaged railcars. Most likely they'll all be loaded on to flat cars. You might get some big crane pictures as well. I don't guess that you can get close to the wreck itself.
Jeff - I agree with you on the allergens.
Tom O - That's interesting about visitor safety in Vegas. One would think that that's a top priority for the livelihood of that city.
Dave PV - That's pretty much the way that I always viewed car salespersons, until yesterday. our guy was no pressure and quite helpful. None of this "let me talk to my manager" stuff, although he did bring her by to say hello. They also did not employ any financial managers at this place to pressure anyone into the extended warranty or shady financing deals.
Mara - Welcome back.
Curt - Randy at Downtown Deco makes some of the finest kits available. They're Hydrocal and the modeler has to paint them as they wish. I like them because they really represent real structures...not always perfect.

Today is International Firefighters Day. Also Star Wars Day and the anniversary of the Kent State Incident.

Everybody have a great day.

Good morning gang!

Well, Hello There!
(SW junkies will get the change in my normal greeting)

It's me. I'm him.

Or something like that...

Made the grocery run. M&Ms in the "Supporting Women" bags were on sale. Green and red and purple ones. Love the green and purple ones. Also bought a watermellon for the wife. They're not in season in the Midwest yet. BUT, I'm planning on a costco run in a few. Brisket is the target for this weekend's grilling out weather. I love brisket, wife loves watermellon.

Need to go get more foam project panels for the new layout (2x2 ft 1in foamboard). Lowes is right down from the hobby store, so I guess that's where I'm going. Also need shelf bracket for the 2nd level.

Might get a visit from the kid and her boyfriend. We bought the new base for our old Litter Robot, and said we'd give it to them for a birthday present. She decided to drive up and see us, you know, because she's getting a $500 litter box for her cats.

Willie, I thought so too but this was the folks at the desk who suggested I walk on the secured grounds, not on the strip.

Interesting about not being able to use the credit car. Terry has used hers for the down payment to hold the car until it’s ready after a couple days of prep. Uses the credit card for the points like you noted.

Dad owned a dealership, Chevy/Datsun (later Nissan) from 69 to 75 when he traded it for 2 campgrounds in Wisconsin. While my brother and sister inherited the car loving genes, I definitely did not. Terry loves the chase for a new car, I go along and just shake my head in wonder.

Your ahead of me as usual my biggest is 6in tomato, and no flowers on the peas yet, the peas got hammered by mice and I’m trying to get more up to speed at mice least of my problems a rat now dead was literally dragging potatoes out of pots and scoffing on them, he’d eat one but throw loads up like bloody Goldilocks, too dry too wet too small too big grrrrr, I had to replace a bundle before I caught the beggar, and he (luckily not she) was a good size, also caught two smaller elsewhere, I had to put tree guards on to stop them. Unearthing, we planning moving the three compost piles a lot further from the polytunnel, at present am throwing down loads o f wood chips on top of cardboard paper in the hope they do not suck up all the nitrogen…we’ll see.
tatsoi are mostly sulking, self seeded celery are doing well, as are self seeded spinach and tomatoes, I have lifted and shifted a number but tomatoes are popping up like crazy, I suspect I’ll be filling pots and copy you and putting tomatoes outside.
I have Asian greens and a lettuce mix which was supposed to be 12 different seeds are 2 types of mustard leaves, ages been cheated, lord knows. I have done really well on garlic this year, and have seperated and filled a whole bed and other, but strawberries are my winners, flowers and fruit are going well, I may have a bumper harvest before June,
50 hanging plants a bed with 50 plus, and another bed deep in grass and stinging nettle, can’t decide if to rescue the strawberries there or not.
cucumbers have been a bust 3 atm mine keep breaking in and eating the seeds and digging up plants to investigate the seeds and damaging the plants gggrrrr.
Last week a rat got in the conservatory, jeez they jump high we had to grab 3 rat traps chase it around until it followed the wall and finally jumped floor window sills chairs table then floor and ran into the cage, the only rat I happily drowned.
I’ll try to get some photos, but at present I need a magnifying glass in comparison to you

One server up, second in process.
One has 6 going to 7 drives, while the other will have 2. Difference between what department is hosted where in the network.

Got to get back to the doll house. I had a dream last night where the wife asked me when I was going to get it done as the child was 27 already... 😆 She's really going to be 4 but I do sometimes procrastinate.

I used to be a guy who had to have a new car every couple of years. Not just a new to me, but new. 3 of our last 5 were used, but both the new ones went 10 and 12 years. The used ones (current '16 Equinox and my '12 Colorado) have held up very well with very few issues, and those were fairly cheap to repair.

Willie: Glad you got a car you wanted.

No, not anymore. I am close though about 20 miles as the crow flies. Maybe mid way between Houston & Galveston
It was the summer between high school and college. I talked my dad into letting me go work on a tugboat in Galveston as a way to learn the value of a hard earned dollar. He agreed, and gave me $500 to take with me for the first month of rent, and to tide me over until the first payday.

I had a ball! Came home with $600. Dad was pissed, lol. I would have come home with about $550, but just before I left to go back home, I took in all my empty beer cans to recycle and got like $50 for all the aluminum. There may have been a few pebbles inside some cans... lol.

Also jumped from a perfectly good airplane at the Spaceland Parachuting Club on one of my days off.

It was the "Ginny G", a small pusher operated by Grasso Oilfield Services, which was part of Diamond Shamrock at the time. We mostly pushed diesel between Part Arthur and Sabine Pass, but occasionally, we would deliver diesel fuel and fresh water to an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico. On the return, we sometimes hauled a garbage scow back to shore.

That was the summer before hurricane Alicia hit

Willie When I had my teeth implants done as the procedure progressed I gave the dentist a $9,000.00 cashiers check each time. The fee for the $9,000.00 check was $6.00. $65.00 seems kind of high. What bank was that?
Swal
The other half had his teeth files into points - he did not get a picture grrr he said he looked like a vampire. 600 each gave him a porcelain replacement on his tooth root, he has done 5, a gold and platinum bridge broke, the dentist tried putting the metal to one side and the husband was like hmm hmm pass it over, 1200 to repair he’s humming and hawing but hopefully will go ahead as sone one with one filling and healthy teeth otherwise cross fingers I can give a smug smile although the bottom two middle teeth are just slightly wonky, and no braces ever.

From what I remember of junior high school, we were told the "no shoes" custom started in Japan, where the floors of their houses were not very sturdy, and would be damaged by wearing the shoes of the day.

traditional Japanese homes are floored with tatami mats and/or simple wood flooring Tatami is a woven product -- I think bamboo or something but not sure.

while the tatami would not do well with shoes I think it would be a respect and cleanliness thing going way back.

Not sure what the difference between a wire transfer and a debit purchase is?

the wire transfer process is a high manual labor old school process while a debit card process is all automated. That is my understanding. I could be wrong.

you should have asked them what their credit card limit was and split the payment. I know car dealers around here will take a card up to a few thousand.

I have no plans on buying a car now or in the future. Who knows what the government has plans for cars in the future. 55K on the truck, 36K on the car. They'll have to last.
