You know about the Power Glide then? It was a very good and strong transmissionThe famous Power Glide transmission.
Actually, was a pretty good college car. Just not compared to what some of you got to experience.I still remember the jingle for the commercials for those. It's a Great Little Car...
in fairness to Ford my Galaxy was modified and driven by me as a teenager. Those cheap bias-ply tires never had a fair chance either. I even resorted to retreads because it seemed I was always buying tires. Like other things at the time, my tires/money went up in smoke.About the only "plus" to mine being a Gutless Wonder, it got 17 highway, 12 city.

A tennis buddy had one of these back in the day. His was an automatic, but unlike almost any other similarly equipped car of that era, his sported neither a slotted (center console) fore-aft stick-shift, nor even an up-down push-pull shift lever behind the wheel on the right side.Afternoon, folks! Just thought I'd better report in for a quick coffee.
Fires are still burning in Alberta. As far as I know, Drayton Valley, Wildwood, and Fox Creek are still evacuated. Our local fitness centre is full of evacutees getting food and temporary housing. Camp grounds are full, too.
In my opinion, the media is making it sound like the end of the world. Truth is, it's nothing new that we arn't used to seeing around here. The fires seem to be more numerous, but, not any worse than other years. Evacuations are nothing new. I suppose the media just needs to have big, embellished stories; scare people.
My first car was almost exactly the same as the '63' Corvair in this photo:
View attachment 168356The only good thing about that car is that it taught me through necessity how to fix a car.
Well, I don't have anything much. Perhaps when I get modelling again.
Have a great day, folks.
