Made it to 7 am after the whiskey. Three hours of sleep, rudely awakened when the DND setting on my watch expired and it started flashing me notifications for JUNK text messages.
Troy, I am confused! Surprise there. Was last night just a bad unusual for you sleep night? Or where you trying to stay awake and then when it was time to sleep you couldn’t? Not getting sleep is miserable. I know a bunch of things that didn’t help me get to sleep during my anxiety months of December 2021 and January 2022. I tried booze, sex, pills, cold remedies, not drinking soda after dinner, then no soda at dinner. Look online at “Immersion Therapy”. Recommended by my Behavioral Health Therapist and damn if it didn’t work for me. YMMV

enjoy the day
I'm confused most of the time too. ;)

Last night was abnormal for me waking at 2 am. But, wine was involved.

I normally wake at 4 am... which I keep wishing was not the case. Sometimes I can fall back asleep. Others, I'm up and going.

Been trying to get a nap in, and make it past 10 pm for bed, to move the wake-up time out to 5 or 6, but that isn't happening. It seems to be going the wrong way.

I didn't go out and murder dandelions today, just because of that posted message. The bees are important. Therefore, the dandelions have a stay of execution until sometime in June.
The neighbour across the street had a pile of dandelion corpses laying on his lawn. Apparently, he didn't get the message. He must have dug out at least 50 today.

Good for you. Personally I don't care whether someone participates in it or not. I posted the explanation because there might have been some confusion over the purpose for the initiative, which led to the "P" word being invoked here by an admin.

I thought that was a little surprising, since I've heard about it multiple times on the news, and anyone googling "No Mow May" would instantly find numerous articles and news stories explaining the reason behind it. Unfortunately the trend on the internet these days is to jump to conclusions; hopefully this aside encourages some to seek information on things in the future, rather than assume it's part of some diabolical plot. And I'm not referring to anyone specific in this thread, just as a general comment for anyone that stumbles across it.

Truthfully, I had never heard of it until Tom O' mentioned it. Since he lives in a College Town, failure to comply often brings on the wrath of those who know best. Here in Suburban, Metro New York, someone attempting to participate would encounter equal wrath from the Homeowners Police or Code Enforcement.

I am very cynical about the motives of people who promote these things, especially when they convey a "My Way or the Highway" or "I know what's Best attitude". That covers all sides of the spectrum and pretty much all controversial issues.

We turned over a raised vegetable garden into a Butterfly, Humming Bird and Bee Friendly garden several years ago. We just finished turning it over and amending the soil, so we can reseed with different perennial variety that won't migrate from the garden to the lawn. This is supplemented by Annuals, that will hopefully reseed themselves. Assuming the song birds don't eat the seeds, and the deer don't eat the plants, maybe we will get some results.

Afternoon All,

Yesterday grandson's graduation went well. I don't know about his choice (extremely loud) for the family supper afterwards, but it was his day. This morning my buddies came over and operated the layout. Everyone was happy and very complimentary about what I've done so far. Afterwards we all went out to lunch. Tomorrow I'll start weathering the cars and pickups for the village.

Greg- Very nice layout shot.

Louis- Happy Birthday.

Willie- Nice 1:1 photos of the area that you live.

Joe- Nice photo. Are you no longer doing a Reading yard or you just running different locos?

I hope everyone has a good night.

Good evening!

Full day of errand running today.

Breakfast at Delaney's then try on the tuxedo for our daughter's wedding... Then more errands, with a stop at the grocery store before heading home again later today.

It's really humid today as a persistent low pressure front tries to move out.

No trains for me this weekend. Tomorrow I pick up a small U-Haul trailer and start packing for our road trip south.

Have a great day! It's good to be on the right side of the grass!

I for one thank you for a clear thoughtful non political answer on No Mow May.

Lots of folks out cutting today as from what was being talked about at the local Farmers Market you had to buy a $10 permit to participate and very few purchased the permit. Total cluster F… from the beginning on this one.

Knowing about the bees and why other areas have No Mow May is enlightening.

Thank you for the birthday wishes. 😁
Thank God for another year!
BelatEd I missEd the post…hope yo u had a great day..and cake or yummy substitute

Whew! I am glad to be home and catching up on the forum. We drove up to the lake house last night with 9 of us spending the night to host my middle grandson's high school graduation party for family and friends today. Based on his ACT scores, he will attend the same school as his mother and aunt did on a scholarship.
My SIL brought his gas grill and set it beside mine on the back porch to grill the meat. We started smoking up the neighborhood about 11 AM and cooked 96 hamburgers, 48 corndogs, 4 pounds of smoked sausage and 8 pounds of chicken until 1:30 PM. We had about 3 gallons of potato salad, 1.5 gallons of macaroni salad, 1 gallon of English pea salad, 2 gallons of baked beans, and a gallon of sausage/cheese dip with potato chips. Lots of cheese, tomatoes and lettuce to put on the burgers. The 38 people present also feasted on a large double layer sheet cake, five gallons of ice cream and about 7 different toppings and sauces.
When we old fuddy duddies left about 5 PM, there were still10 people enjoying the lake water.
I hope to make it to 8 PM before I fall asleep!

Great ride today.
Visited the Marine Corps museum at Quantico, VA. Spent just a couple hours on a whirl wind tour of the exhibits then hit the road up to the Arlington National Cemetery and observed the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Very somber event. From there, we went over to the John F. Kennedy grave site. Another somber site.
That took up most of the day. Headed back south out of Washington DC and stopped off at a Fuddruckers Restaurant for a burger.
Tomorrow we will meet up again at the Quantico Marine Corps Museum at 7:30 for a police escort up to the RFK stadium in Washington DC for the Rolling to Remember ride. They are expecting a couple hundred bikes in that group.
