Put some new grips on a Smith & Wesson 1st Model New Century [Triple Lock] and decided to get it's son and grandson out for some pics too. The front one is a 1911 built gun in .44 Special, the middle one is a WW1 gun made in October of 1917 in .45 ACP and the rear one is another .44 Special one of the first 500 3rd Model, made in 1926.
Is the front one the one you purchased from my shop? The target grips do look better.

That's surprising. I would have thought the females would be more than the males.
The Google AI says that their extra layer of fat has less water than lean muscle
---

On average, the human body is composed of approximately
60% water. However, this percentage fluctuates based on age, gender, and body composition, generally ranging from 50% to 75%.
Here is a breakdown of how body water varies:

Water Content by Demographic
  • Infants: Highest percentage, around 75–78% at birth, dropping to about 65% by one year of age.
  • Adult Men: Roughly 60% water.
  • Adult Women: Roughly 55% water (women generally have a higher percentage of fatty tissue, which contains less water than lean muscle).
  • Elderly: The percentage decreases with age, often dropping to 50% or lower.

Water Content in Body Parts
Different organs have vastly different water compositions:
  • Lungs: ~83% water
  • Brain & Heart: ~73% water
  • Muscles & Kidneys: ~79% water
  • Skin: ~64% water
  • Bones: ~31% water

Why It Varies
  • Lean Muscle vs. Fat: Lean muscle tissue is very watery (about 75% water), while fatty tissue (adipose) is not. People with more muscle mass have a higher percentage of total body water.
  • Age: As people age, they naturally lose muscle mass and increase body fat, reducing the overall water percentage.
Water is vital for life, acting as a transporter of nutrients, a lubricant for joints, and a regulator of body temperature.

Michael,
The Sig goes live this Sunday about 6pm est. I'm not a Glock guy, but the LE side of the business gave me a brief on the new Gen 6. Lots of changes externally and internally. I may actually consider one after taking a demo unit to the range.

I'll have a look. Thanks for the reminder.

Never was a Glock guy myself. Grip doesn't fit my hand very well, but I do have a 17 2nd Generation. My nephew bought that for me as a gift. It was an original Belgium police issue to a department there. Has the name of the department with the crest along with all Austrian proofs.

It shoots very well, but still doesn't fit my hand.

They never fit my hand either. The Gen 6 supposedly has improved a lot of things. Flat trigger, palm swell, trigger guard, new internals, etc.

I hope you like it. I've had Nill grips on every Walther I've owned and removed them every time because of that palm swell they insist on carving on their grips. It makes the grip unwieldy and it makes me feel like I don't have full control of the muzzle. I've removed them every time. I love the way they make the pistol look, but can't stand the feel.

This was the last pair I had. I traded them even up for a very rare factory Walther set of grips. Those grips are like hen's teeth.

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those with weather today

It's Troy again.

Went to bed at 10p and awake with a weather induced headache at 4. Got up and took a couple of Ibuprofen.

Looked at the Weather Underground and ... yep.... Barometric pressure is rising for the next few hours. It's a bit weird right now post wind storm. Temps falling down to 27°F then climbing to low 40s today.

Pastrami last evening was good. Cooked it to 202°F like a brisket.

It could have been a touch moister, but it was in the good-to-eat zone. Wife said she likes this better than corned beef. We served with baked sweet potatoes. I got a quart sized bag worth of slices for future sandwitches. It now resides in the freezer.

Today is a road trip day. Heading 2+ hours down to the far side of Indy. Going to pay our respects to the father of a good friend. John and his wife Charlotte hosted the mostly dry New Years Eve Euchre party every year at their home. Round Robin Euchre tables. Play one game, then switch partners/tables. Track your score, loaners, Euchres. Fun but cheap prizes. We haven't been to their place in about 10 years due to our time out of state, then coming back right as the pandemic hit. Sad to lose John. But we'll get to see a lot of their family and probably the Euchre gang.

And, I did get my 3D print job to run last night while I was sleeping and the power grid was stable. I'll pull it off the printer later. It was waiting for me when I came down to the basement this morning.

Good morning all!

Slept in a littlee bit this morning. House is still quiet since everyone else is still in bed. hopefully that continues for a little while
longer.

Its currently a mostly cloudy 30F with an expected high of 42F The winds have died down considerably from yesterdays gales.
Still waiting to see how much snow they are predicting for this area tomorrow night. I have seen 1-3" on one place and 2-5"
on another. Nice thing is it wont last very long this time of year.

Todays agenda will be weekly grocery trip, fill up the cars with gas, a load or two of laundry.

Not much else going on. Hopefully it will be a low key Saturday!

Have a safe day everyone!

Good Morning All. Clear and 56° this morning, 81° later today. I saw 76° yesterday. Cold front tomorrow which is supposed to last 36 hours and then into the 90's later in the week. No chance of rain currently in our forecast.

Happy Pi Day to all who know what that means. Many eateries around here, especially pizza places are offering specials. Our local Pizza place has a buy one and get a second one for $3.14.

Nice day yesterday and I spent a lot of time mowing. Got about 1/2 of the east (front) side done before hitting soft ground, and I got all of the immediate west (back) side done. Also did the north side between the house and train shed as well; for a total of around 1.75 acres. I'll probably finish off the east side this morning. Topped the day off by making a new to me improvised breaded shrimp recipe in the air fryer for supper. Turned out really well. Have to make that a keeper. Better than fried shrimp. I also tried a new twist on the homemade cocktail sauce by adding a couple of drops of Worcestershire to the Catsup/Horseradish mix. Even my wife liked both!

This evening we are headed for North Dallas for a birthday dinner for my daughter #1. She turns 48 on Monday. She is all about partying for any occasion. Don't know if we're going out or celebrating at her house, I just follow directions. The fun continues tomorrow when she and family are coming up here to visit a local winery with my wife. Again, I don't know the actual plan if it has even been finalized; but I know which one we will not go to. The closest is owned by my wife's ex-employer from the 90's, an ob-gyn doctor who bought an ex pig farm for his wife to establish a winery. Some bad blood between his wife and my wife. There are 2 others within 10 miles of us, and several within a 20 mile range.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I finished up the Tillman Farmhouse structure kit from Walther's. Figured out how to assemble the "extra" porch that wasn't in the instructions.

The porch on the other side is considered the front porch, but I think either one could be the front, depending on it's orientation on the layout.

The downspouts are a little awkward, but maybe they just seem that way to me.

I am leaving off the cellar door, as it just seems a bit oversized to me. And most homes in the area that I model don't have cellars anyway.

Michael - I am used to the Kibri kits with their parts, as they make many kits for Walther's. But this was not a Kibri-made one, at least that I can tell, and that porch was complete. I think that Walther's just left it off their instruction sheet!
Troy - I have to agree with the Internet guy that Coriander is very important to making Pastrami. That and the cooking method is what sets it apart from Corned Beef.

Everyone have a great Saturday.

Good morning from Wisconsin. The crazy winds of the last 3 days have diminished to calm or 2mph per the WeatherChannel app. Mother Nature is taking a time out for the brutality she’s going to unleash this evening. According to the guessers on TV this morning the world should end starting around midnight. The WeatherChannel app says 7pm Sunday night and Terry’s local TV weather person and now a neighbor says 4pm Sunday. So I don’t know when the latest storm of the Century will hit. I do believe the weather guessers must be getting a commission for telling us to make sure we have enough supplies.

The only thing I did yesterday was to check the whole house generator. No sooner did I get outside and it kicked in. The area was without electricity for maybe 40 minutes. The text message from the utility company said a squirrel got into something at the local substation. Then the reply messages started that the utility company has to do a better job of protecting the squirrels from self immolations. Yeah, really! Yes, the generator worked well!

Due to life interfering I couldn’t make the planned drive north yesterday to the work session.

Only have seen 3 of the movies nominated for Best Picture for the Oscars

Badger Hockey Women now ranked #2 after dropping to now #1 Ohio State last week play in the NCAA tournament hoping to advance to the Frozen 4. On campus at 1 this afternoon the daughter and family are joining us. 1st time since 2024 they are not #1. We have no plans even if the Badgers advance to see the Final 4. I hope last Saturday’s loss to then #2 Ohio State wakes up the 5 Olympians on the team. Since they returned with 4 earning gold the team has been sleep walking to the wins. Lost 1-2 but a loss is a loss. Should be interesting this afternoon playing a good East Coast team, Quinnipiac. Personally I think it should be a blow out for the Badgers but it’s why they play the games…

Yesterday afternoon I was confused on assembling a support structure for the blow tank for the paper mill. So I asked Google Gemini for some help and attached a photo of my hand drawn graph paper drawing with the request. A nice step by step sequence with dimensions was returned. Sometimes Ai is pretty damn good but I wasn’t requesting info, i asked for something specific. Because I gave it my own data for an assembly question that it has seen good results. If you ask the question the right way it seems very useful. The issue for me is asking the question that best way. I’ll keep trying…

Be well
