Well it looks like the writing is on the all; another publication could be pulling the plug. Walthers has announced there will not be a 2026 HO catalog. I have catalogs going back to the seventies. I would rather look at a model catalog, than search the internet. I blame the cell phone for the demise of hobbies. people can't go anywhere without a stupid phone attached to their body. I do not have one; nor do I need one. I know of people that watch full length movies on their cell phones. People can't turn-off the phones and build a model train, car, plane or what ever. I am talking mostly younger people; but this hobby is dying slowly; but surely. Too bad, I enjoy building a good kit and feel proud afterwards...never felt accomplishment after looking at the internet, only felt my life going flying by...OK; I'm getting off my bandstand now

I agree . I like to go over a catalog or book while I am sitting at a table or on the couch or at the computer. No need for a laptop or an IPOD. Turning pages are easier than working electronic devices. Just getting old and like the simpler things in life.

Well I agree with you 100%

I have an AT & T "Go-Phone". Living out in the sticks, my cell phone is a necessity. My local phone Co-op. charges $67.75 a month for my mediocre internet and local calls only. If I add long distance, I have to pay an additional $67.00 plus 3 cents a minute on long distance.
The go phone gives me a camera, unlimited local and long distance talk and text ( no overseas calls ). That is all I need.......costs me $27.50 a month.
I usually leave my cell phone in the car when shopping. If someone calls me and does not leave a message or is not in my call list, that call gets deleted and if listed as spam, it gets blocked.
OK.....I'm off my bandstand now.

On the subject of publications, when I was at Discount Model Trains, I picked up a copy of Railroad Model Craftsman and thought I would thumb through the pages and maybe make a purchase. But when I saw the $10.95 price tag the magazine it was promptly returned to the rack.

78°F outside now at 1300. First day I've been able to open the windows and maintain the indoor temperature. The dewpoint is up too, but I didn't see what it was.

A bit breezy around here too, but that always happens in the spring when it warms up.

Hamburgers were awesome. Better than fast food crap.

Well, I bought some of the textured paint:

Stuff was NOT cheap. just over $15 for the can at Home Despot, even with my 10% vet discount!

But is the result worth it?

That is one coat. Upon reading the instructions, yes, I am that guy, I learned that you can apply successive coats in 15 minutes after the first application. So that is just one coat.

It's not a bad look, and I think at the HO scale, not a bad representation of dirt and rock, maybe. But I also have to wonder if some basic spray paint with hobby dirt/rock sprinkled on would not be a cheaper solution with even better results. But I spent the cash, so I'll use it for this project.

Anyways, if you were curious, that's my report.

Currently 46 in the Twin and Certifiably Insane Cities with non-frozen water falling. Golf courses are opening for three days starting Sunday! WooHoo!!!!

I have used that paint to cover some of flat roofs on buildings to give the effect of a stone roof. Just different color.

Unbelievable how much a magazine full of ads on every page has increased in price while content has gone down. I don't remember the last time I bought a magazine.

I am currently receiving a complimentary semi-monthly magazine from Springfield Armory for my purchase of my Springfield Garrison last year, but as it is published by the company it is highly slanted to Springfield Armory ads and affiliated manufacturers. Still has some good biased info on their current offerings, but the magazine is one big ad for SA.

the fun never ends at work. Somebody complained to management that I was taking three day weekends and it wasn't fair. Even though to get those three days off together, I was having to work 10 days in a row. So now, I have to take one of my days off some other day, so I don't offend anybody.

This thing is supposed to have 6 nuclear reactors to run 6 giant turbine generators to supply electricity. To put this into perspective, it would generate enough electricity to run 2 cities the size of New York.
John I worked on one of the 3 nuclear reactors turbines at Indian Point. I was working 12 hours a day 7 days a week. I told my union I want out as soon as possible. All over time was double time a $100.00 an hour and that was back in 2000. I told them I still want out. The workers who stayed during the outage for about 3 months made a ton of money. I didn't care you had a zero life for 3 months. You had to have a clean past to work there. That was a problem for a lot of the temporary outage workers. They got me out of there in 2 weeks. Swal
