Good Morning All. Cloudy and 70°, quite warm for this time of morning. However due to the cloudiness, it isn't going to get much higher than the mid-70's today with the possibility of thundershowers around dusk. They have removed rain from the forecast for tomorrow and Saturday...they really don't have a clue. Roller coaster weather for the next ten days, but staying generally mild. Today's rain is currently hitting
Patrick, about 300 miles directly north.
The votes are mostly in, in the Texas Primary yesterday. The expected incumbents won most races but there will be a runoff for the Republican Senatorial candidate later in May. What's her name on the Democratic side lost and there is no runoff there. These were the most hotly contested races on the ballot this time around. Many races around the state were uncontested in the primary and a few will be uncontested on the ballot in November. I never vote for an uncontested candidate.
I didn't post it yesterday but on that Gerrymandered map that I posted, there is only one residence on that odd parcel of land, and it's a rental house located at the top where that driveway juts down. The late owner of that parcel of land was also an amateur politician. He was the ex-mayor of a nearby town back in the 90's when it had ~4000 residents. Not sure if he had any influence in drawing the lines?
Other routine tasks and chores yesterday. Nothing really planned for today since I'm unsure about the weather, but I'll find something.
On the subject of meatloaf; that's one thing that my wife excels at and makes it better than Mom or me. She made one Tuesday night and sandwiches are to be made with the leftovers today.
One advantage of having a remote train shed, is that my wife won't walk out there with "urgent" tasks. And by the time I get in, she has forgotten many of them!
Speaking of the train shed, I spent time out there again yesterday, actually an almost daily occurrence. Finished the touch-up paint and the final assembly of the Fordson tractor kit made by Jordan Miniatures.
After looking at these pictures, I remember that I intended to paint the radiator and fuel tank caps silver, but forgot. I can do that today.
Then with the workbench cleared, I figured out how to disassemble the trucks and remove the wheelsets on the ScaleTrains SD40-2. Did this without finding anything on either the web or on their website explaining how. Here are the now "grooved" wheels from my unfortunate incident described yesterday.
The grooves are deep enough to use an old-fashioned traction tire on! Especially the one in front! Oddly enough, there doesn't seem to be any track damage. It was after hours, so I'll call ST this morning, since I can't figure out how to order parts online. These are a scale 40" wheels, so I cannot use any of the Athearn replacement 42" wheels that I have in stock from NWSL. All older Athearn locos have the wrong size wheels. Prototypes all had 40".
John - Glad to read that you're still supporting Discount. I'll have to show your post to my wife, who thinks that I fully fund them!
Swal -
Migalyto there will be no happy days for me until this snow is gone. It's been a terrible 3 months here with nothing but snow and cold. There is no doing anything outside it's too cold out. I see there's some warm weather coming next week. Alaula, Alaula winter is almost over! Swal
That's why I live where I do. Note in my opening paragraph, it's 70° here this morning.
Patrick - I'm so happy with the new (11 years old now) walk-in shower; I wish that I had installed it many years earlier.
Bob - Wasn't sure what you mean by "coaster cars"? Then I sorta recalled that you work at an amusement park. My recollection may be wrong.
Website is still acting flaky, so I am late because I gave up for a while and joined my wife watching news. I guess that they still haven't found the old lady yet, since there was no coverage in the 45 minutes that I watched.
Everyone have a wonderful Wednesday.
