Good morning from Wisconsin. Chad sorry to read about the loss of your job. I am so glad to be retired

It’s another nice day in So. Central Wisconsin. 30f degrees now feeling like 25. The high later this afternoon will be 60. The snow is gone, again! Terry’s Trigeminal Neuralgia flared up after the morning check up but was doing better when she headed to bed around 11:30 last night. She is still sleeping now but laying down instead of propped upright. That I think is a good sign.

I have a lab at 1:15 and then at 1:30 a calibration test for my Blood Pressure cuff with the same lab tech.

I was informed last Thursday a package to be weathered was coming and it should be here 3/11, yesterday. Friday morning and every day since Terry gets an email from the USPS saying a package was coming on Tuesday. Well, it’s now Wednesday and there’s no package. When I happened to be in the open door garage when our USPS delivery guy drove to the mailbox I went out to say hi and save him the walk up to the front door. He’s been working since he graduated HS in 1985 for the USPS. He said this is by far the biggest of many clusterfu… he has gone through. Instead of hiring to replace the folks who have been retiring they are chopping people at the distribution centers. Not locals where he thinks it’s bloated but at the understaffed distribution centers that basically control everything in the system. He says the rumor he hears is they are trying to bankrupt the USPS and if they declare bankruptcies the underfunded pension plan will be effected big time for past and to be retirees. He said he still enjoys his job. Comes in grabs his carts, stuffs his truck and goes on his merry way ignoring most of the daily crap. He says most of his insider info comes via his wife who started at the USPS the same year he did. She works at the post office in the city next to us

Enjoy thev day

Bill: Those breakfast "sammiches" look good.

Karl: Did you notice the Walthers Proto WM Specific low nose GP9s? Look good to my PRR/PC Eyes.

Penn Steel 1.jpg

Last weeks progress photos of the Penn Steel Works on my layout. This week I have been concentrating on "West Front" Street, along the back drop, before it becomes out of reach....

I had minor" Squamous Cell Cancer surgery on my forehead. Pathology says they got it all...Came up suddenly! sutures come out next Monday. Meanwhile antibiotic ointment and internal antibiotics.

Have a great day.

That's why I am getting my old DCC throttle app out. A lot of the iOS engineering positions are wanting experience with a technology called SwifrtUI and Combine. I had done a small amount of it last year but am really not at all comfortable with it. So I am going to convert my throttle app I had started to be structured using this new tech. It is a way to learn and polish the skill and if I can quickly get the basic app into the App Store have a portfolio app to show using the tech.
That is brilliant!

I Pray for the best for you.

Louis, try water with MIO or another flavor enhancer. I like the Sweet Tea or the Mango Peach flavors myself, YMMV
I've been adding MIO flavor to my water. No caffeine, but sweeteners and flavor. Today I'm drinking Orange/Tangerine. I also like the strawberry/watermellon flavor. Avoid the "energy" variety. I think they've got caffeine.
Thank you, gentlemen, I will try that.

But I aint buying no stinking bottles of water! Bottled water, WTF!

Baltimore has excellent water from several beautiful reservoirs. Pepsi used to bottle Baltimore's water, all they did was filter out the chlorine.

If I had only known people would buy bottles of water...

Chad,
Your story is all too familiar. I know several tenured IT professionals back in Silicon Valley that were displaced by their new Indian manager. They all saw it coming. H1B's and Indian nationals replaced them (Americans) once their new manager was in place. Several went back to update their certifications and some became independent contractors.

Sorry to hear it happen to you. You'll be doing something better soon.

David

Good mornin' from partly cloudy Cheyenne. It's 30 with a wind chill of 24 and winds from the W @ 8mph. Forecast high for today 61 with a low tonight of 32. No precipitation in the immediate forecast but looking at possibility of cooler temps, strong winds and some snow Friday afternoon and evening.
Got more stuff unpacked yesterday and began cleaning up the garage/train shed, flattening moving boxes and bagging them up for the recycle guy. Managed a little workbench time yesterday evening.
Getting out a bit later, pick up meds, maybe a little downtown shopping and some lunch. I don't drive anymore, so NJ(ret) is my chauffeur. I navigate and she operates... She's actually a pretty good driver and Cheyenne is relatively easy to get around. We use D#2's Jeep Grand Cherokee; absolutely huge 4wd, black, dark tinted windows, looks like a vehicle from some secret government agency...

Chad: Sorry to hear about your job woes. Hang in there.
Bill: Those breakfast sandwiches do look good! 'Bout time to head for the kitchen and whip me up one!

Time for morning meds and breakfast. Y'all have a good day and take care.

Good Morning All. It's clear and 54° in this neighborhood. Expecting 82° today after just 80° yesterday. Remembered to open a couple of windows last night. Slept well. A few more days of this and then another cold front on Saturday, short-lived with only 2 nights in the 40's.

Finally had to do a real mowing yesterday, after a couple of weeks of just spot mowing. I mowed about 3/4 acre on the east side between the house and road since it was starting to look scraggly. In winter the yard is green with wild oats and rye and a weed called Henbit. At least now everything is the same height. I did get one cart full of firewood picked up and dumped by the woodpile. Cart was then filled with more wood chips for making garden pathways. I'll stack the wood later, I needed the cart.
I'll fill in with more outdoors tasks today along with a load of laundry. I hang most clothes outside on the clothesline when it's nice. Saves $$$ and they just seem fresher. Old-fashioned I guess!

I made a lot of progress out in the train shed yesterday on the Smalltown USA structure kit. Finished painting the windows, window sills and lintels.

Then I made, attached and painted the accompanying sidewalk.

Needs another coat of paint.
These kits always come with a chimney for some reason. I rarely use them and this one will go into the "chimney drawer" in the details cabinet.

Xantherian - Welcome to the Coffee Shop.
Mike - Good to read that the train funk is wearing off. I get into that occasionally, but it generally only lasts 2-3 days.
Tom O - Hooray for Terry's successful surgery, best wishes to her on the TN.
Troy - Re taking leftovers home on a bicycle. Get one of those backpacks that food delivery folks on bicycles use in NYC.
Len - Slow improvement is better than no improvement.
Marlin - Nice job on the derelict shack. Looks like one of mine that is still underneath a load of tree branches from the tornado last May.
Swal - I also seem to have reading glasses all over the place, not because I lose them though.
Jim - I only have one pill that eating is recommended for. In the morning, I have a light snack right after taking it. At night I take it after supper. Best of both worlds.
Chad - Sorry to read about the job loss. You don't seem to be the type that will let a minor life setback like that get you down for too long. Good luck moving forward however you choose to do so.
John - Other than local mail being sent to Ft Worth to begin with, I have never had any issues with that postal distributional center. My credit union and my bank are both about 2 blocks from the PO. They send my mail there, and it then gets sent to Ft Worth before being sent back to that same PO to be sorted and delivered to me! At least you're busy on the layout while waiting.
Louis - Yep! I'm with you on buying those bottles of water. I bought one several years ago just to have a bottle to fill from the faucet. We have really good soft water from the local Coop water company from a well close by.

Everyone have a wonderful Wednesday.

I don't know if you've ever heard of Evian brand bottled water.
What is "evian" spell backwards?

Good morning all!

Currently 41F heading up to 61F under mostly sunny skies. Getting close to putting the snow blower away
and getting the yard equipment out.

We won our volleyball game last night. The girls ground it out after losing the first set, They all pulled together
and won the next two. We play Thursday night for the regional championship. We all met after the game at Dairy
Queen. It was a fun time watching them eat loads of ice cream and blow off some steam.

Other than laundry, not much else going on today.

Have a safe day everyone!
