Good morning! It's 32°F with a chance of rain later in Tipton.
Have a parent teacher conference today. Hard to believe the school year is already 3/4 of
the way done.
Willie I'm just the opposite I have taxes taking out of all my income. I sold the last of the sock last year and they took out $18,500.00 in taxes. I'll get some of that back. I have $5.38 left in my and my wife's stock portfolio since her passing.Actually I don't have taxes withheld from anything, but not enough is taxable enough to incur a penalty.
Me to Tom.She still is avoiding the crypto market. I still feel it’s a scam, she wants to play it but is semi agreeing with me

That would be disheartening! Hope it’s meaningless…Good afternoon.
I got a really strange message in my work inbox, and it’s not giving me a feeling of longevity.
I have a document to acknowledge as to whether I consent to the company contacting me for feedback up to 60 days after I leave my employment here.

Maybe scam is a strong word about Crypto but it really is how I feel. I totally agree regarding investment. It’s needs real physical assets. That said, the son has invested 6 figures this year into Crypto hoping to make the big kill. He’s been playing the last 5 years and always cashed it when it reached his parameters. Now he is financially able to allow it to sit and hopefully accumulate. To buy the Wimberley ranch though he did have to promise to cash it in or the Bank of Mom would have said no to financing the deal.Good Morning All. Cloudy and 58°, supposed to reach above 80° later today. Cold front with rain still predicted for tomorrow, but short-lived, it will be back into the 70's & 80's on Monday.
One of the granddogs was dropped off here yesterday evening, as her family is going to Hawaii for Spring Break which starts for them on Monday. The other granddog will arrive Saturday, but I don't remember where his family is going; if I was ever told to begin with, maybe it's Vegas. Should be fun with the expected rain and ensuing mud in places. Third granddog has to go to the kennel. She is not allowed here after the first time. She barks at me, gets on the furniture, but mostly she craps (and probably pees) inside the house. She does this at home as well. She was rescued from an abusive home and has never recovered.
Weekly grocery trek went OK, still some random stock-outs, but they will honor my expired coupons. Nothing really necessary, just stocking up items. Gasoline around town has skyrocketed up by 20¢/gal, to $2.89.
Today is going to be busy for me if I follow the plan. Starts with the damn dishwasher again and includes laundry. I'll be planting Green Peas later today and a succession row of Spinach. Meanwhile I also hope to do the final tilling of the last third of the garden. That's where I will plant Tomatoes and Green Beans. Squash is going over between the peas and onions.
Train shed time yesterday and today as well, will be a bit limited. I continued with the rehab of the Model Power structure kit. I painted the roof brown as the original gray plastic was also discoloring.

I have decided to leave a portion of the front unpainted and I am going to set up a scene of house painters doing their thing. This also shows more clearly the discoloration that occurred with the original white plastic.

I'm repainting the window frames to a gray color to improve them.

Finishing up the windows and a little bit of touch-up is next, and then I will add the replacement clear styrene to the windows.
Todd - The colonoscopy wash-out thing is overly exaggerated. It's needed for sure, but a tech admitted to me that they run a hose in and flush it out anyway, before inserting the camera.
Patrick - I'm with you on the roof work. I put mine on in 2002 or so, but the latest one in the fall of '23, I contracted out. I'm glad that I did, as it survived the tornado of '24 while the older one on the train shed is still in the field across the road. I don't even risk ladders any more.
Tom O - Re: Crypto - I don't so much call it a scam as folks should know what they are getting into before investing. I only invest in stocks backed by real physical assets, real employees, and real sales. But some people are making money with it!
John - My "tin can & string" phone company is really pretty good. It's out of Muenster TX. They have taken advantage of Bush federal grants to provide fiber-optic to any and all of their rural customers. I can get 2 Gb/sec if I am willing to pay for it. I stick with the 500Mb/sec plan because that's all that I need.
Swal - I'm just escaping some taxes temporarily. This year I am required to start taking a major RMD from my IRA account, which when combined with SS and other income sources will put me over my salary level from any year at work! Mostly since retirement, I have used previously taxed assets like savings and Roth IRA's, all of which are non-taxable. I had no income tax to pay at all from 2020-2023. Wife's income was too low to get us over the poverty level, but much of our income came from those other non-taxable sources. All of my stock purchases have been within the IRA framework, so I'll have to "pay the piper" soon.
Everyone have a fabulous Friday.
