Well howdy there internet peeps. It's Troy again

No pot of gold here. Evidently they keep something else in their pots in Eastern Europe. :p

Got a couple of boxes in today. No train stuff. But, looks like I"m going to be busy signing books and such tomorrow. And Friday. And printing shipping labels.

In other news, wife decided that she's going to do indoor container gardening in her office. We ordered several three foot long grow lights T8 frequency or whatever that means. And I went to Mendards and brought home some 72" tall 3ft wide wire shelving units. These will go in her office. Potting soil, tubs, and grow lights. What will the neighbors think of her?

I'm already calling it her "Pot Farm"

You see how I started the post with Pots and ended with Pot?

Troy, another author I know decided to do the "signed copy" thing for a reprint of his first hot seller. He offered a digital copy along with the signed physical coffee-table copy. Everything went well, until it didn't. I finally got my copy four months after it was shipped, along with a bunch of other people that got lost in the shuffle. He said while it did well, the issues with doing it offset the advantages.
Then, 6 months later, he tried it again. Me being me, I had to remind him of the fiasco...

The purpose of the kickstarter was to afford a human narrator for the audio book. I prefer human over licensed voices used by an AI for audiobooks. BUT, this kickstarter was still about $200 from breaking even on all of my costs + the narrator fees.

Lessons learned.

And with Tarriffs and general crappy overseas shipping prices, I don't expect to do another one any time soon.

HOWEVER, Kickstarters for special edition books are HOT right now. Readers loooooove the decorated page edges, foil stamping on the covers, etc.

Mine was just a "special edition" with some B&W artwork inside, and the list of backers on the acknowledgments page.

Good morning all!

A cool morning with temps at 25F, but with the wind it feels like 1F. I can confirm it really does feel like that when I took garbage/recycle bins out this morning. Upper 30s for a high. Snow yesterday never materialized.

Appliance installation went off without incident yesterday, so that is off my plate finally.

Not sure what today will bring. Its way too early to tell.

Have a safe day everyone!
