Good morning everyone!

Happy Hump day!!

Currently 54F with light rain moving thru the area this morning. Supposed to change to snow tonight and dump 1-2". 71F was the high yesterday!
Welcome to spring in the Midwest.

Not a whole lot going on in my world.

Have a safe day everyone!

I read your message on the groups.io forum for YaMoRc. I was investigating the Digkeijis products when the owner was unable to ship products to Iron Planet or anywhere or I’d now be running YaMoRc after Karst started up his company. Lots of rumors regarding the situation at the time in the European model trains press and forums. Too much hyperbole to repeat here. Turns out it’s more than what I needed in a command system but…
yeah I remember you talking about it when you were looking. I'm interested in trying this out once I get it upgraded and eventually getting their new one. I have a few "layouts" and because of my software also want to test various command centers for compatibility so eventually will get a good stable of them, but the YaMoRC will probably be my main one, or one of my main ones. I will end up with two test layouts -- one small in my office and one 4x8 in the train room for testing stuff out and then the main layout, eventually.

For me as a computer nerd, playing with the electronics is fun and satisfying as actually making the trains go around :)

Yesterday it started flurrying again but at the end of the day there were big sunny gaps in the sky. It barely hit mid 30s yesterday and was mid 20s over night. My watch says 32F now but my two outdoor sensors say 46F and 51F on the North side out of the sun. It's sunny but the roofs still have snow from yesterday on them

Still have lots to do around the house. not getting it done fast enough, Door handles on some closets, my daughter's clothes bar in her closet, some shower shelves and stuff, and various other bits. Hang the TV on the wall etc.

That and trying to find a job and distract the bank while I do so -- we're still on the construction loan and still have a few small things to do with some grading and non essential plumbing etc that needs to get paid by the loan. Technically it expired Monday and I need to talk to the bank about what we're doing. I'm trying to avoid the mentioning of my job situation to avoid them doing anything drastic at the moment.

Been working through some tutorials on SwiftUI programming so I can start to re-do my software's test UI into something I can ship and get the underlying DCC comms stuff I did hooked to it.

Daughter has a water polo game up in Park City. Wife will take her. I'd like to go but have too much stress from these other things. I have been going to her local games -- most of which I missed while we still were building. Wife's off day is today but they had a "skills day" so she had to go in to the hospital today anyway for a few hours.

Life goes on.

That is a serious sport! My wife got me interested, as a fan. We follow the Hungarian teams during the Olympics. We also follow the American teams, but the men haven't won a medal since 2008. They are due! The US women's team has won gold in 2012 London, 2016 Rio, and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Life goes on.

I was mentioning to someone that I had some old steamship menus they are from 1949. I was asked to share the pictures here for everyone. There are a total of 3 menses but I did not repeat duplicate front and back covers

Yeah, water polo is something to watch. Especially the "men's" teams, which are faster and more physical. My daughter started last year as her friends on the swim team did it. She's hooked.

Both my son and my daughter started swimming as kids. My daughter has not done competitive club swimming for a few years but is really into the HS swimming. My son did competitive club swimming through his high school time and into the summer after, going to a sectionals in Arizona. He also did HS swim team for 2 years -- he was at a charter school and we didn't know he could swim with the local HS since his charter school had no athletics. When we did learn he immediately went and swam for 2 years. With my daughter we knew the ropes so she started swimming with the local HS as a freshman, and after freshman year moved to the school itself for her education.

The water polo is organized as a high school sport but it's not one of the accredited sports sponsored by the Utah High School athletics organization, whatever it is called, that runs all the normal sports. My daughter's HS doesn't have enough swimmers for water polo so they swim on the "HS" team where the rec center is as part of that team. Before the HS age group water polo is organized by club. (The HS really is by club as well but they use all the terms like HS and name it after the HS etc).

In a couple weeks the water polo team has an away trip down to Cedar City. I guess we're all going to drive down there as the team doesn't travel together but leaves it to families to organize and her friends on the team are doing a family trip to Las Vegas as well. It wasn't really in our budget or calendar as we didn't know about it but we'll have a fun time. It's about 3 1/2 hour drive. We'll probably have to stay two nights. My dad is from Cedar City so maybe we'll try to see a few things while there. We did stop by for an hour or so once on the way back from a St George state swim meet but now we'll actually be there, not just driving through. It's changed so much since I was there as a kid visiting my dad's mom.

Good afternoon everyone!

We are having a crazy number of thunderstorms this afternoon. One after another, luckily nothing really severe Got some small hail with the last round.. We are experiencing several rounds of what the weather geeks are calling :dust rain". The dust from the SW has blown up here and fallen in todays rain. Everything outside is getting coated. I went to pick my daughter up at school and every car was absolutely filthy (including mine). The car washes this weekend will be cashing in!

Do the Horseys get medals too?

Vacations... Big or small? Questions for the Brain Trust on here.

Wife wants to vacation either the 2nd or 3rd week of May (missing Memorial Day)... She wants to spend at least a day in nature (more is better).
I want to see a major Civil War Battlefield...

She's not picky on location as long as she gets her communing with nature time. She wants wooded hiking trails.

The two battlefields I'd most like to see are Gettysburg Penn. and Shiloh Tenn/Miss (yes, I know it's Corinth that is in MS, but it's pretty much interconnected.)

I'm poking around on the interwebs and it looks like David Crockett State Park in Tenn might be a good stopping point for nature, then hightail it over to Shiloh. But is there anything closer to Shilor with about the same allure?

What about Pennsylvania? What kind of natural sights are there in the vicinity? The can be a day away, that's not an issue, but not too far east. I'd like to avoid getting too close to DC. ;)

Suggestions?

Why? It's a great place to visit, and a better place to live. with all sorts of attractions, plus MLB Nationals, and hopefully the home of the Stanley Cup for the next year. Plus it's not far from Baltimore, Sharpsburg Battlefield, Fredricksburg, Va and even Gettysburg. So much to see and do.
I've been to DC enough. Unfortunately, neither the wife nor I are sports fans. Mt. Vernon across the river is pleasant. But I prefer Mr. Jefferson's little mountain.

And, I've made several political trips to the area in the past. Won't say more due to rules.

She probably knew it all before because it was a refresher course.
I did ask her what they do on these skills day this afternoon. They do them twice a year and refresh use of machines and monitors and stuff that are not used every day, and pass off the skill for using them. Also pass off other skills that need to be shown yearly. She said that those of them with CICU (cardiac ICU) experience usually know most of it but those in her department who don't have CICU experience have to refresh or relearn as they are things tat don't get a lot of use in their current work. (Cardiac Procedure Recovery Unit -- so prepping for and recovery from out patient cardiac things like putting in a stent or whatever).

It was interesting.

I'm sure she wishes they had a horse to ride. In water polo you can't touch the pool bottom so you have to tread water the whole time your in place and swim between positions/sides. I'd die trying to tread water like they do. Especially when they're in a shallow pool.
