Modeling the B&M brings to mind a few great memories.

I lived in New England for eight (08) years during my 32-year military career (Connecticut for 3 - and - Massachusetts for 5); stationed in Groton, CT and Boston, MA. Anyway . . .

I had a long consist of HO ABA F units (B&M Minute Man heraldry) along with six (06) heavyweights; all done by Bev-Bel in Athearn "blue boxes."

B&M (RDCs with B&M heralds - Herbert Matter designed - whisked me to 'n from my home just north of Boston - only about an 8-mile run, but it was a treat; the station was an easy walk from my home.

I have traveled by Amtrak thru the Berkshires (old B&A route) to/from Albany, NY and absolutely was mesmerized with the fall splendor.

New England history would be totally incomplete without more than honorable mention of the B&M and all affiliate roads.

Just my 2-cents.

While I grew up a block from the Long Island engine facility, it was family vacations in MA that influenced by choice of railroads. The B&M was across the river from where we stayed.

I like a decent bottle of Scotch, but I do like Jameson's and Bushmills Irish whiskies. (Sounds like we drink a bottle or two a night) 🤣🤣

My favourite drink though is Pusser's Rum. I bought a bottle of Pusser's 151 in Gibraltar. £17.30. We had it in the cabinet for nearly 8 months taking a little now and again. Anyway just before my birthday, Dawn wanted to try it. Off course she did not drink it alone. She loved it. Looking to replace it here in the U.K. £59.99. A lovely birthday present. (Still untouched I add.)
For some odd reason I don't like Scotch, single malt or blended. (It could be a mental block. I am a bit mental 🤪 )

In my whiskey decanter on top of my liquor cabinet you will find Evan Williams Burbon. Inside the cabinet there are wines, not mine. I keep Irish Poitin, my favorite (when I can find it), Jameson, Kecskemet Barack Palinka and the usual cast of other spirits.

Like you David it sounds like I am a big drinker. At my current pace I have enough to last more than ten lifetimes. The way I buy I will soon be beyond the capacity of my liquor cabinet. "My eyes are bigger than my stomach"

David, your wife, and you are in our thoughts and prayers. Fear not, God is with you both.

Evening all,

Another Evening working after hours...fortunately the boss was still in the office. Talked him through what I needed done.

I had gotten off early to burn some of the time I've had over week. I am off tomorrow.
Between times, I went to the estate sale and got a couple of things I thought were decent deals.

First was this kit:

Didn't realize I had some fat old man's feet... 😂. Spent $30 on it, seeing it's $45 from Walther's. Still sealed.

Second item:

Some more fat man's feet along with this Accurail kit.

Was a less that the $12 - $15 the kits were going for at the train show last month.

So more to work on...

That is interesting how childhood experiences can be of such influence later on.

The B&O ran freights where I grew up on Staten Island, NYCity (class of 1938 - born, that is).

However, my absolute love affair with real trains was with the PRR and the GG1 locomotives. My father's ships (Merchant Marine) made Baltimore MD as homeport (most times) and we traveled by train from the closest station to Staten Island by train (either PRR or B&O), but the Pennsy "did it for me" and still does in my mind.

Still have vivid recollections of the vendors coming aboard at station stops with their trays of snacks & goodies walking the lengths of the heavyweight coaches. One of those guys gave me a Keystone engineer's cap that remained with me for years. Influenced? You betcha!

Gotta sign off - My Blues are well into the 1st period of their hockey game up in Ottawa - leading 1-zip.

Drinks on me!

Good evening ALL!!!!

Flo!!

When your done settling in, grab your fuzzy slippers and robe.
Meet me at the end of the counter.
I've got Roger Miller on the jukebox.
Also grabbed two pieces of pizza and a Truly Wild Berry hard seltzer.
Afterwards, we'll go out to the crossing with old stogies.
Wave to the hobos in the third boxcar, midnight train......

Stunning. Your hair makes you a princess when it's down.

Good morning all. Thank God it's any day.🤣
A large mocha coffee and blueberry muffin please, Flo. I'll be by the window.

A sunny day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two of our grandchildren who live in Northumberland are visiting and staying over until tomorrow.

I have been wondering whether to buy some more railway wagons. They are correct to the timescale and area I am modelling. They are on pre-order, which I dislike, and they are expensive; more than the going price. Decisions. Decisions.

Back later

Good morning. It's raining and 68.
After much cursing and gnashing of teeth, and a lot of phone calls between me and the credit union currently financing my car, they've agreed to continue with the loan unmodified, provided I send them the unattached title. While I don't trust financial institutions as far as I can throw a real GP7, this credit union hasn't done anything they haven't said they would do.
I guess we'll see.

Hearty G'day to all; Gents and Ladies (of course!),

Why do I have "You Can't Roller Skate in a Buffalo Herd" on my mind? Hmmmmm. Love Roger Miller tunes . . .

A mugga Joe right in front of me - can't beat that with a stick; thanx! I will have one slice of that "criss-crossed" Blueerry pie if you please.

37 (F) out there with a mostly clear sky and dry as a bone in there parts. No complaints, but Mother Nature needs to turn on the spigot as we are ovedue.

Going to treat myself this morning to a trip to one of the few genuine family bakeries remaining in this area; about a 15 minute drive from my Haus - but worth it. Have a taste for old-fashioned German crumb cake and they do 'em just right. I'll buy two (02) and put one away in the freezer after carefully wrapping with freezer paper and foil. Nothing wrong with spoiling one's self now 'n then, eh?

I spent very little time down in my basement train room - Tom's Lion's Den - yesterday, but plan on making some progress today. I did run my Polar Express passenger and Santa Fe Chief passengers sets for a few loops and am so pleased with my decision to get back into this version of homestyle railroading; gotta luv it.

Okay - that' it for me for now . . .

Enjoy this day one 'n all!

Good morning from a snow filled landscape in So. Central Wisconsin. It was snowing when we were getting out of the theater last night at 10:20pm but it melted as it hit the pavement. 3-7” accumulation was on the weathering guessers app yesterday and the app showed a few minutes ago, that we have received 4”. They do need to look out a window or better yet step outside. We might have 1” and it looks a lot less to me but the flakes floating down are big ones. The school district web-site indicates they are closed for unsafe travel conditions

We saw the musical Mamma Mia last night. I really enjoy the music of ABBA but disliked the movie. I wasn’t looking forward to the musical. But, last night was a joy! It was fun and it really felt like ABBA singing up there on stage. It did bring back memories of the 70’s.

Yesterday enroute to the op session we were notified the owner tested for Covid. So, my friend and I turned around with me dropping him back home. I went home, Terry and I had breaksfast and her plan was cookie baking so I headed to the trainroom. Did some locomotive weathering, side frames and fuel tank, one side only. Spent time organizing.

It’s a unit due to ship in June so it may get done quickly or not. It’s a fill in project

Today, we are having a hockey/basketball watch party and soup! Starts at 4:30. The watch party is for #2 ranked UW Women hockey in the Frozen 4 in Durham, NH. They are the defending champion, it should be great! Then the Men’s basketball play in the NCAA’s almost right after Women’s hockey. I will have TV monitors for both. The soup! Terry has her top 5 made! Chicken and Wild Rice, Beef Barley, Pumpkin squash, Potato and Chowder. There are 4 others bringing their soups. I have 7 loaves of bread made this week for dunking! Terry said that 41 have responded they will stop by. For the basketball snacks I will be frying french fries, cauliflower, cheese curds and zucchini. We will have a good time no matter the scores.

enjoy the day
