Morning all,

Very thick foggy start to March! So glad February is in the books. Looks like maybe upper 40s today.

Still watching that weather coming Friday, looks like maybe we will be on the rain line again, but the forecasters are all over the place.

Have a great day everyone!

Well just got off the phone with the sawbones and its the 30th of March! Robot surgery! At my wifes hospital its now outpatient surgery. She will get a walker to help with recovery. the walker will be named Texas Ranger!
Her two canes are named Virgil and Citizen.
Mike

Both of my wife's original knee replacements were outpatient surgery. Her walker that we bought was named "Hershel". Cane was named "Grandpa" after my grandfather who I inherited it from.
Best wishes to your wife on her surgery.

Jaz, those pastries you posted look fantastic!

My wife makes a pastry coated in chocolate and covered in coconut, It is my favorite!
Were those nuts on the one with chocolate and coconut? I want that!

You would never need to worry about me. No man should ever strike a lady. Even in my worst days I would not think of striking a lady.

I'll tell you a secret. In high school I feared no one. Except for the girls. I always tread lightly around the girls. It's a fight no man can ever win. Fortunately, I had two older sisters. I knew how to behave around the girls. My plan if all else fails, run!

I have my last cup of coffee before bed, and I sleep like a baby.

Yep. A HUGE point of discussion in the indie-author groups.

A few are going full steam into embracing AI to do their writing for them.

A bunch of us (most of us) are trying to figure out how to use the tech to enhance what we do without pirating other authors/artists.

the Image generation AI apps like Midjourney were fed pirated images from the web. Usually, stock photo/illustrations that we can purchase the rights to use. But the AI builders didn't pay to use them. They just scraped the data and fed the AIs... or if they did get a package deal, they didn't tell the artist it was to train an AI - something that is outside the scope of the license we can purchase.

I just went and downloaded an image for a new book cover. And I'm not sure if any of that artist's images are AI-generated. That sucks, because I might have downloaded an image produced by training an AI to build images from stolen works.
Troy: Yes, it's suddenly becoming more of a problem than a blessing...Hopefully, this will be resolved, and AI can become a useful tool, rather than a Demon.

Mike: My left knee, was replaced three years ago, and my right knee is overdue for replacement. Right now, I'm exercising and walking again...so far ...so good. Best wishes to the wife....tell her to take the Physical Therapy, at least 30 days...well worth it.

Back from the shore. Lite wind from the NE, with an incoming tide. There was a trawler close in, which means something other than Menhaden is close. The gulls were having a meeting on a dune, plotting how they were going to steal the catch. St. Pat's parade is this Sunday, if I read the sign correctly. Today's walk was 1.23 miles, and I picked up the pace, until the last quarter mile, where I had to rely on the cane. Go to the Cardiologist tomorrow, maybe I'll be allowed to drive soon.

While we had a few large snow flakes yesterday, we did not have any snow on the ground. Meanwhile, in Harrison, they had ground covering snow.

Good afternoon gang!

I am sorry I have not posted in a little while, life has been busy. I have been lurking when I can.

Well another snow storm blew through yesterday. Got all the snow removal done with a little left to do until Friday. Friday will yet yield another snow fall. At least the weather is not as cold as of late.

Things on the "train" front seems to be going on with a few more acquisitions. I will share that on the RPO thread. I was excited about getting another transfer caboose by Blufordshops, SP 919, it's a MOW service Caboose. Sharp looking. It will go well with the rest of my transfer cabeese. I also got a few more box cars and the like.

I did pick up 4 more locomotives. Shocker! lol I found a guy that was selling car & locomotive parts too. I bought the whole lot which will come in handy. All of it was in nice storage boxes and separated and labeled too! Saves me time for sure.

I did get more shelving painted, black of course for the train room. I hope to get that up soon. I am giving it a good 48 hours to dry for good measure as I coated it 3 times. More cleaning and organizing has resumed in the train room when time permitted. A buddy of mine wants to come over an run some trains and needs help programing one of his locomotives. He is an engineer for the local short line nearby and also the one that came with me to go to the Big E train show. We may be doing that this coming weekend. We will see.

Aside from trains I have been a little busy with work and well with my personal life. I have been dating this gal that I met last year around this time. We reconnected. We separated due to her father's illness. So now we are back together? It is going well. She loves to fish so that is a huge plus! So I will have a fishing partner for this spring and summer. She also knows of my train hobby, she thinks it's ok as her father was a model railroader as well back in the 70's and early 80's. So she is familiar.

So yup spring is around the corner. I can hear my boat....affectionately called the "Grizz" grumble from his hibernation. lol 3 weeks away and I will uncover the boat and begin the process of readying the vessel. I have yet to get through my tackle and equipment as well. This is usually the time I start that.

The other spring hobby will be May 1st Turkey season. Here in NY I can bag 2 toms. So I am looking forward to that. I will be looking at doing a small veggie garden too.

Well that's it for now ya'll have a good one!

Afternoon All,

Started out very foggy this morning and 67F. Currently sitting at 84F. Spent almost 3 hours in the monthly grocery odyssey. I'm tired now! Tomorrow I'm taking the build to its paint shop and a couple of hours BS'ing with my friend Jon.:)

Willie- That was a good surprise from the IRS. That floor looks great.

Swal- Very nice job on the cabinet.

Joe- Nice looking CNJ RS3.

Sherrel- Is the rain helping with the drought there or is the water just running off?

Troy- I guess I don't see the point of an AI author or why someone would want to do it.

TomO- Enjoy your family and trip.

Smudge- Neat little layout.

Mike- Sorry to hear about the upcoming surgery. It's good news your wife is a rehab nurse. My Mom had the surgery but never did the rehab because it hurt. Because of this, it hurt her to walk and she became very sedentary.

I hope everyone has a good night.

I resent you bagging Toms

I want to thank Jaz avalley. Truckdad, Christan, Chadbag, TLOC, Pink Floyd, Sifoldalot, Big G Racing, Troyphoto, Smudge17, Kbkehooch, Bruette, Texas Hobo, CambriaArea51, Boris SantaFe Willie Roofintrash and Curt for their comments on my new bathroom project.

I wanted to buy a bathroom cabinet for my project and found almost all were made of particle board. I wanted one made of real wood, so I had to build one myself. Kind of hard to do without a table saw but I got it done. It was my first time using concealed hinges.

Great job on the cabinet and the whole room turned out really nice.

CURT - Lakes and reservoirs have to be gaining, but they were so very low that I think it will take a lot more to recover to capacity.
During our "storm" this afrternoon it snowed a little but did not stick - the current temp is 40F and they are now saying 30 for a low tonight. It looks as if we will have a couple days of fair weather followed by another front on the way for a week from now.
The residents of Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear are snowed in - no one is allowed in and they cannpt leave with 8 feet of snow on the ground. Possibility of having some of the roads passable tomorrow but they are saying that it is slow going.

I have a wheelbarrow sitting right outside that was empty and I used it to haul some firewood - it is literally overflowing with water. I realize that it is not anywhere close to accurate but is an indication of lots of rain!
