Well, howdy there internet peeps, and those with humidity (power washing you or not)

It's Troy again.

Right as the wife went to bed, she checked her iPad, settling in for some reading time, and then bounced right back up.

Her deep dive lab results finally posted. She's a lab tech and knows what each is or where to dive for more info.

Long story short: whatever genetic markers and other things they were measuring came back as BIGLY Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Her doc might be in the office today. Maybe.

We won't expect a call until next week though. We hope her primary care doc will begin a drug regimine for it, and not refer her to a rheumatologist, and make her wait even longer.

Monday is Sweetie's birthday. What a birthday gift! At least she now has the diagnosis.

In other news, I went down the rabbit hole of what it would take to get Canadian citizenship for myself. Fortunately, the LDS church maintains a huge database of family trees, and allows people to post the documentation they've found along the way.

I'm old enough to be before the cut-off limiting citizenship claims to just immediate grandparents.
So my mother's great grandfather and his father were both born in Upper Canada (Now Ontario) while it was still a colony of the British Empire. Evidently that counts.
Canada Day.jpg
Now I have to decide if I want to spend a few hundred dollars requesting official government docs, then pay the $75 filing fee and await His Majesties' government in the great white north to decide if my petition is worthy.
It would be a good way for us to retire north once our family care obligations are completed down here. While I'm not a fan of winter, we're both getting grumpy about hot and humid summers. Reducing those to even less days per year could be nice.

Hmmmmm....

For every hot & humid day lost, a cold & frozen day is gained…
I just had the AI run a comparison between Hamilton Ontario and Fort Wayne IN

Slightly cooler in Hamilton year round. Slightly more humid summers. Significantly less snow than Fort Wayne. The snow they don't get seems to be rain.

Hamilton has near zero chance of tornado. Fort Wayne, it's part of our mandatory insurance fees.

I had Ai run a comparison between Verona, Wi and while I think the tax burden is high here compared to Hamilton it’s not bad. Also housing is more expensive for comparable homes.

Run a housing comparison Troy.

The UK is in a very media frenzy friendly heatwave at the moment. Not really bothering me too much though.

I am glad the forum is back up, UK time it seemed to be down from about 1 pm Thursday until sometime this morning but overall, the Internet has been noticeable slower across the net irrespective of what website I am (attempting) to access!

As for those LED strip lights, they are great, aren't they? I use them on my work in progress N scal London Underground project, powered by a 9v battery in a switchbox:

The main strip is warm white and yes, I need to change out the ones at the end to match at some point, they were installed some three years earlier, this has been a VERY slow ongoing project!

Good morning all!

Happy Friday! Forum seems to be moving well this morning.

A light rain is falling and heavy thunderstorms are supposed to move into the area later this morning and another round later
this afternoon. Currently its 63F and the high is only going to reach 69F. So a cool rainy day on tap and I needed to mow, but
It will have to wait till tomorrow.

Not much going on around here. Have some laundry and other minor things to get done.

Have a safe day everyone!

Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and 77°. Mid to upper-90's for the next ten days at least, probably for the next 2.5 months. Radar shows showers about 50 miles west and moving in this direction, but most likely they're evaporating before hitting the ground. Typical for this time of year.

Made a successful grocery trek yesterday with multiple additional stops at the vitamin place, Home Depot for pool chemicals, the pool place for water testing, post office, pharmacy and gassed up the car. Gas is slowly approaching that $3/gal mark in Denton. Even Kroger was listing $3.04/gal. Since my wife stayed home, I had time to make some interesting observations. Like why was there a marked handicap parking space at the stand-alone island gas pumps at Kroger??? And at the Schlotzsky's that I also stopped at; there's 22 tables inside but only 12 parking spaces out front! The 6 spaces in back were occupied by employees.
Returned home and the dishwasher hadn't magically emptied, so I had that and a load of laundry to do. And unloading that 12 gallons of chlorine, 2 cartons x 6, after all of the groceries! It has been a high-chlorine year so far due to all of the rain that we've gotten this June...14.25" so far. That's about 45% of our average yearly total.
It's back to mowing today...all of that rain translates into lots of green!

Tied up some loose ends out in the train shed yesterday. That (missing) sidewalk that I posted about earlier this week is installed in front of the mini-brewery.
1782478534311.jpeg

Also assembled, painted and installed a guardrail at the end of the dead-end road.
1782478638154.jpeg

Don't know which direction I will go in next, but I have a few options; most likely more landscaping behind the brewery before I cross the road and do the bakery.

Michael - I was going to respond to your query regarding the robin, but you found the answer before I had a chance. Many animals have some peculiar habits like that.
Karl - That is one of my concerns about the instability of the forum, that potential newcomers are turned-off and never return.

Everybody have a fabulous Friday. Stay cool and hydrated.

Good morning to those that can attend. 4665 bot friends or not are currently visiting. I keep looking around at old forums I used to attend when the wonkiness here incapacitates the forum. I don’t know! I do agree if I am new and venture here when the bots are overtaking the system, I doubt I’d be back.

A decent weather day predicted for So. Central Wisconsin. 59 now up 6 degrees since I hopped out of bed. 75 and sunny later.

We are venturing north to the layout at 2 for a few hours of making sure trains run. Tomorrow there will be 2 operating session the 3 of us will help out on. My 2 meters, assorted track tools and my personal cleaning tools are coming along again today. The last many trips these have come along and will again today and tomorrow!

Yesterday we did breakfast out and I then started working on 2 requests for quotes on hugely different diesel sheds. 1 is a O scale shed for a plant switcher. The other is 2 diesel shops on both sides of a transfer table. Took me a few hours on the O scale and sent the quote by email.

Then I switched to the HO scale unit and started working on that. Around 8 I texted the modeler and mentioned he’d have to come pick it up. I based that on a previous smaller diesel shed quote because the packaging and shipping is prohibitive. He asked where I was? I told him the city and he asked where and said he is maybe 5 miles west of me. He is new to the area from Kentucky, recently divorced, grew up in Fond du Lac, Wi. purchased a new home and starts working at the healthcare software giant in Verona in July! Small world!

Said he will be building his layout in 3 sections, 1st a large engine terminal similar to the WC’s now CN North Fond du Lac “shops” yard complex and the yard. He says he has been collecting diesels since high school and wants them to be seen. Ambitious so this should be interesting and a modeling interest WC/CN I had for years. In his 30’s says he is sworn off women for a few years while he recovers from he says a very nasty expensive divorce. He mentioned a few names of model railroading friends who also work at Epic or did. I know 1 well and knew the names of 3 others from OPS Sessions. All graduates from Iowa State! I asked how he knew the guy who recommended me he said he’s a much older cousin. I told him I might get the quote done today if not Sunday afternoon.

After texting back and forth I scanned his drawings and fed it to my Ai buddy. Within a few minutes I had a quote. That sounds easy and it was yesterday. There is though hours of info I have fed into the program but I still don’t trust it. This morning I will run my way without Ai help

Enjoy the day

Morning All! 63 in the Brew City today with a high of 74. Digging this moderate spring weather! Got a visit with the grandkids planned this weekend. Still working on the garage, and de-cluttering. I have a trash pickup scheduled for early in July. finally got the new toolbox organized. I don't know how to act with everything where I can find it! I also bought a small service cart for things like WD-40, my jack stands and other frequently used items when servicing my mowers, snow blower and so forth.
HF Tool Box.jpg

That Snap-On top box was bought in 1983. It doesn't owe me any money! I think the hardest thing about being a mechanic (then and now) is managing tool truck debt! That and watching my language if customers might be around. 🤣 I tend to profanity. I have been professionally trained in its use. Have a good weekend everyone. I'll probably be busy the next couple of days.

Good Morning All, and those with organized tools!
62F @ 53%, rain for the next day or so.

Have an old Snap On 5 drawer metal wheel thingie ( late 60's ) that probably weighs 300Lbs with all the crap in it that needs org badly. Ya, nother Tod project.

Forum seems better as I was on earlier with 6 or 7 users and 5K+ bots. Smooth as silk. Somebody musta done something!

Yesterday was bust - got too hot too fast and we only got out to the G/C house for about 1/2 hour. Did set up for cutting the angled loft wall pieces.

Today might make 62F, and doing dem angled loft wall pieces. Should not take all that long depending on how much rolling around, climbing up/down I do. Getting old ain't for sissy's. Maria is getting antsy to paint and start the front deck. Ya, HoneyDu.

I did have ..um.. and issue with the new Crown Stapler. After running two loads of staples the day before, it decided not to work. Pull the trigger and not enough power to drive an 1 1/4 staple along with a lot of hiss after it tried to drive. Nothing blocking staples. I do think it was an oil problem as the trigger switch kinda hung about 1/2 way down. Working it in seemed to solve.

Yea, I let myself get into trouble when I got my first job out of tech school. I had a balance with Mac, Snap-on, and Matco. Sad thing was
they were things I didn't really need at the time but they were new and shiny.

Luckily I still lived at home and was able to pay them off in several months.

Learned a valuable lesson about debt though, so not all was lost.

Good morning folks, 766 here heading for 85, drizzling rain off and on. Hoping the rain forecasts will not come through tomorrow as we are going to an Arkansas Travelers Baseball game, taking out g'nephew and a buddy of his from church along. Should be a fun time. Growing up in Chicago, I do NOT miss those brutal winters. Thank God for an air-conditioned home, I much prefer the summer heat.
No real plans for today, might take the Missus out for a late lunch. Might stop at the lumber store for a 1x4 to put some test track on in both HO and N scales, I need the N for programming some DCC locomotives and the HO for some future building projects.
You guys have a good day.

73°F/72°F here this morning with light rain showers on and off. Supposed to do this most of the day. It seems like a late September day out there right now. I hope it stays that way before the heat arrives on Sunday.

Good morning. Not much going on here. Just watched a movie they tried to ban in most of Europe. Citizen Vigilante is the title. Takes place in Bayrueth, Bayern, though they do try and hide (or at least not make obvious) the location where the story takes place. The license plate code gives it away about 3/4 through the movie.

Just another Saturday here in swampy Southern Illinois today. Probably run trains after lunch since it's so wet outside.

Have a great day! Servus!

Terry - The heat and humidity is the reason that my wife and I parted. When she finally retired, she wanted to go back to Florida where she has a lot of family. That's where I met her. The company she had worked for was really taking advantage of her. 24 years and 2 raises with project after project being added to her responsibility. She was also tired of the long winters which could be brutal.
I had lived in Florida when I got out of the Navy because there was no work back where I lived in Montana. I never could stand the heat and especially the humidity. We are still food friends and are constantly in touch. She comes up a few times a year to visit the kids and grandkids and we do get together.
I'll take the change of seasons. I didn't realize how brutal winters could get where we lived. Temps dropping to minus 50 degrees, going for 45 days where the high for the day didn't get above zero. Here in Libby, winter is a world of difference.

Alan - This is about all that I have left of my tools. I had no place to work on cars, let alone have a place for tools. Guess that's what downsizing is. I had 2 big Snap-On drawer chests loaded with tools Power tools and air tools. My son has them now down in Halena along with most of my wood working tools. Compound miter saw, table saw, Router table, Plainer and more. Fits in nicely in the center section of a triple closet.

Willie - I really liked the way you managed to squeeze that large building into such a space. Nice work.

I have been going through what I still have left here and have made a list of some items that have to be ordered. I found this, my old Tschache Oil company. With the small space I have, this will probably be the only business that will need its own siding.
Missing a couple of parts but I will find what I need. Mikey had bought some of my vehicles and offered to trade some items he doesn't need for some more vehicles. I would like to see if some of the members here on the forum might have unused items that they might want to trade for some vehicles or freight cars.

Ihave looked into ordering from the various suppliers that were posted and have found a few items. I probably won't need another length of code 83 flex track, but the sites I looked into were all out of code 83 rail joiners. Mikey has some Woodland Scenics ground foam ground cover. Will need some ballast. I just haven't had the time to look yet.

Here are some more photos from the archives. These are from the Livingston Model Railroad Club.
