After arriving in Japan Wednesday night Japan time the daughter and her group from the humanitarian trip to Nepal stayed at some hostel looking place. The pic that was shown was a tatami room with 5 futons. Not much bigger than the futons. I’ll find out more when she is home tonight.

They got up Thursday morning Japan time and had their scheduled time at the LDS Tokyo Temple. My SisIL was able to meet her there so we got some pics from the SisIL of the two standing in front of it.

After that they went to Shibuya for a few hours and then headed to the airport for an approximately 6pm flight to LAX.

They should be landing at LAX in the next hour or two I think. She should have several hours there as we didn’t want to book her return trip home from LAX to close to the arrival time in case the flight from Tokyo had delays.

We pick her up at the airport tonight around 8pm. Which is about later than Cali time.

I’m excited to hear about it since we haven’t been able to communicate with her while she was away. We’ve only had the photos in the group Google photos album the leaders have been posting.

What is this Robin doing? A second or two before I snapped this, he was entirely spread-Eagle on the ground including his tail feathers. This was just after that.

A minute or so later he gathered himself up and just stood there for a few seconds before running away across the yard, then took flight. I've never seen any bird do this. Was he cooling the underside of his wings, or drying them off? There's not any water around here. At least not enough that he would have soaked himself.

Sorry about the window screen.

I found out he's doing a couple of things here.

The first is called 'anting' they will find an ant hill and let the ants crawl through their feathers to eliminate mites. Creepy.

The second thing is just to cool off. When they spread themselves out like this it helps to lower their temperature and keeps them cool. He also had his beak wide open when he was fully spread out. I read that so they get some sun. ???

Mystery solved. First time I've ever seen any bird do this. I thought watching the hummingbirds come and go was fascinating...

6900+ bots in the house as I start this but I have been moving around the various threads in a normal fashion

We ventured out this morning for a 10:15 meet up for breakfast. Normally the last Thursday of the month is to find a place within 90 minutes or so new to us. Terry had read that Mickies Dairy Bar just off campus across the street from Camp Randal was sold. The place is a legend and an icon in Madison. Started in 1946 it retains the look of then. We return here 3-4 times per year. The service is stellar, the food good and there is plenty on your plate when you get it. On weekends the line to get in is around the block and on football game days the wait in line is long. We go on Thursday and while no line it was packed. 3 couples plus Terry and me enjoyed a good time. Our server said yes the staff know who the new owners are and would not disclose them. She did say the old nothing should change and the name will remain though. We are hopeful.

Waiting on word from my friend what the plan is for Friday afternoon

Enjoy the afternoon

What has happened to the forum. Had problems again today, Tried earlier and it was a no go so I took the dogs up to the dam recreation area and then to the dog park. Just happened by the computer which I left on and shazam, it was working. Gotta take the dogs for a walk and make their dinner now.

Before I go, here is a couple of photos of the LED strip lighting.

If this could help anyone, Amazon. The strip is 16 feet long I believe and can be cut to the length you need. Would be nice for the kitchen.

Gotta go, LATER

SBS4DCC is good. Lots of stuff. I’ve used Iron Planet for DCC stuff as well. They sell YaMoRC and other euro brands.
I read on their website that they can preload a blank sound decoder. I need to ask them if that includes the sound files that are available on the manufacturer's site as well. Digitrax and ESU both have project files on their site. That'll give me better options as I don't want to have to buy programmers.

With the Hornby HM7000, you download the sound files and load them via the smart phone, but they are limited to Hornby models.

And some are offered in different colors of white. I use the 5V offerings as they come on at lower voltage than the 12V strips in my pax cars. I just ordered a COB version to try try to see if that will give me more even lighting in the cabin since they have more LEDs per inch.

Well howdy there internet peeps.

Let's hope this posts. Forum has been wonky all day for me.

Wife finally told me about a special promo to get gift certs from the local TV news website. Giordano's pizza. $50 cert for 26.99.

We got one.

Since we know a guy there, we can still get the Parmesan Crust pie, even though it's off the menu.

Pizza, cheesy bread, and a couple of soft drinks came out to $46 after tax. We lost $4 of value, and had to tip in cash, becasue they don't let you do the tip on the gift cert for that special offer.

I guess I was off by 3 days, or the storm slowed down that much. Anyway, been pretty much quiet up till 10 minutes ago when we got pressure washed. It lasted 5 minutes and is quiet again, but with some far off thunder. The guess is showing tomorrow around 1800 to get pressure washed again.
