Speaking of comebacks; The New York Knicks came back from being down by 27 at the half to pull out a victory over the San Antonio Spurs in game four of the NBA Finals. 107-106. They did it they old fashioned way, by playing good fundamental basketball. The Knicks now lead the series 3 games to 1.

Here is the page loading with the machine language I spoke of several times here. Like I said, I haven't seen it happen here in over a week, but it has happened here. This is only happening on VS owned sites.

This is why I don’t like lithium batteries.
This battery is bad, and has swollen internally to the point it’s ready to explode and catch fire.
And the only way to remove it from the van it’s in is to remove everything around it—hopefully without disturbing it and setting it off.View attachment 267525
Swollen doesn’t mean it’s ready to explode. It does mean be extra careful as it’s likely easier to puncture and mess up the chemical balance that can cause a fire.

I’ve had computer and R/C batteries swell up. Never had one explode.

Morning all,

Another humid day in the 90's before the front comes through in a few hours.

Back at the office for the day (I don't do Fridays). Catching up and getting my head straight. One less thing to worry about in life. The past week does have me starting to rethink my waiting until 70 to retire.

I haven't kept up here since Tuesday, so I may have to go back and read what's been happening.

Have a great day all!

That kind of looks like the font character mapping is off or something. Like when you have Japanese and choose the wrong Japanese font that uses a different encoding.

Or like it’s supposed to be images but the raw data is being interpreted as characters.

This is the explanation I got from an IT guy on another forum;

Cloudfare is pretty well known to have some processing issues some times. In the early days, everything was hosted on the same server. The server having trouble which probably mean you'd just get a timeout or other 400ish or maybe a 500ish error come back. Now the web page is on one server, the stylesheet is on another, and the ads are on other servers. So the page comes up and this is all framed out. Now frames are built to render fast and be dynamic (even if the entire content within them is not there yet or finished). This causes the I didn't mean to click there issue when an ad somewhere on the screen finally loads a couple of seconds later than the content you are reading and the screen readjusts to fit it. More clicks for the ad jockeys so they don't want to fix that.

I've never seen the machine code on the screen before, but I would bet it is a similar issue in that there is a pause between the frame getting the content and then decoding the machine code into the characters we read and if the page is working on something else loading at that time then you could see the intermediate step.

The more distributed we make things, the more issues we potentially create. I'm not saying there are not advantages to distributing things, but we get a different set of issues and the biggest issue for me is inconsistent bit rates between the servers.

I was able to retire from a very high stress job a year earlier than I expected. Look at what the difference would between pension or retirement income and what you presently earn. That difference is what will determine whether you should stay or retire.
I do not regret the earlier retirement.

my job was more self induced stress because of all the changes going into a company I had put my heart and soul into my last 2 years the new management team wanted the legacy management gone and when I left at 62 those F___ers knew it knew 4 months later when my clients started leaving. I’ve never regretted it but my Social Security happily never figured into the equation if I could retire or not. If you think they will miss you, don’t worry about that. If it’s a financial decision only you can determine that

The first round of storms is thru the area and we are now just dealing with the rain and a few rumbles of thunder. We caught a break
on this round as they weakened significantly as they headed across Iowa and Western Illinois. Tonight's severe storms are still on the
table.
Stay safe. I know all too well about these storms after the tornado that ripped through the SFW estate in 2024.

Doc told the wife:

Looks like arthritis, but not gout. Probably Psoriatic Arthritis... could be RA.

Won't know which until we get the test results back.

Fortunately, the wife is a medical lab tech, and already had the testing panels listed with the ordering codes for them.

So Xrays and blood work.

THEN the doc will devise a treatment plan.

First storm watch has been issued by NWS. It cuts Missouri in half diagonally extending into Illinois, but it's one county north of here and we're not included...yet. There are warnings nearly the entire length of the front across MO and IL.

Might be plain thunderstorms by the time it gets here.

Mike, if you are where I think you are, you have a big red bullseye over your area. Stay safe up there.
