Finally broke down and ordered a new coffee machine. The one I have now is taking 30 minutes + to make what it used to make in 8 minutes before. I think I screwed it up and it needed some back pressure. I made the notch too big and it makes a ton more steam than it used to.

So, my replacement is an updated version of my current one. A whopping $25 (no jokes), but this one has the mod in it that I was trying to do, which is have a shower head and not just dump into the basket.

Got back from the eye doc and this hospital is a no go. They are a city hospital and cannot do general anesthesia. So, as soon as my doc said that, I said we were finished then. He then quickly added an option of me going to a private hospital where he also works at and he do the operation there. Since they are not under city rules, they can do the general anesthesia. He asked which was my preference and I told him option B. He knew that I was going to say no, so he was already going to offer me option B.

So, now we start the entire process over again. Wait all day to do the registration, wait all day to do the initial checks, wait all day to talk to the doc for 10 minutes.

When the nurse told us which hospital, my wife asked if this was the one where the nurse poisoned the IVs and killed 3 patients. The nurse quickly said no and said that a lot of others had the same concern. I think I remember this case, but not sure what the outcome of the trial was. Normally, you kill two or more at one time, you get the gas chamber.

Good morning Coffee Shop! It's Tuesday, 73°F (23°C) and a chance of rain.

Weather:
Mostly cloudy with scattered showers. Isolated thunderstorms toward daybreak then scattered thunderstorms. Humid with highs in the mid 80s. South winds 10 to 15 mph becoming southwest late this afternoon. Chance of rain 50 percent.

Have a great day!;)

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those with modes. It's Troy again.

I was surprised this morning when I hit the refresh on the forum, and it popped up in dark mode. That's my default for the macbook, but I keep the forum in light mode (white background).

Oh! I need to login again... so it defaulted to my default color scheme.

Hopefully that login will help drive off some of the bots!

I let the dehydrator run for 6.5 hours overnight, splitting the 5 to 8 hours the Dehydrator cookbook suggested. Almost, but not quite done, this morning when I tasted an apple.

I did get a new book yesterday:

Autumn.jpg

by Marty McGuirk, as heard on the Around the Layout podcast.

Fortunately, I was planning on an autumn time frame for the Midnight Abbey layout.

Speaking of, I'm printing the last of the structure parts of the abbey. One more print job for all the interior doors.

Then I get to decide how much glue to use on this structure. I think I will plan on building and glueing each level to itself, but keep each level seperate from the one above/below. My goal is to light the structure, and perhaps have it populated. But the exterior will come first.

@troyphoto did order 6 of those books for my shop and for me :) Looking forward to dive into it. was a great podcast episode i have to say! that building btw looks interesting. is it printed with FDM? how big is that thing in the end? looks huge?

Here's the page on MMF:

with the building and the fence, the footprint is supposed to be: 420mm x 520mm x 285mm

however, I down-sized it to 70% of the original

Yes, in fdm.

Good morning all!

A very muggy morning out there when I took out the garbage/recycle bins. the air is really thick! Currently its 72F with the high
expected to top out at 90F. No rain today but it looks like it returns tomorrow and Thursday again.

Nothing much again planned for the day. I have a load of laundry to do this morning which I will start after I get done taking my
daughter to drivers Ed. Probably a few other things will crop up throughout the day.

That's about all that's happening in my world.

Have a safe day everyone!

Good morning. North by 103 miles of Mike (MIGALYTO) and we have the same weather. 72f degrees with strong humidity and 90 later. We had rain on and off yesterday just enough to be miserable. No real accumulation that even though everything was wet the rain gauge had just traces. That was till about 6:15 when we had a 15 minute cloud burst. Just over 1” in the rain gauge. Dry today per the guessing app with rain the rest of the week

Let’s go to the NBA final and go to sleep during the game? I can do that at home for free in front of the monitor! $9000 for a nose bleed seat in Madison Square Garden yesterday. I think priorities are just a bit askew! Ban 3rd party seat reselling markets. However it is the American way. Happy the Spurs won and I cannot name more than 1 player on either team. Tonight the NHL and the Stanley Cup Finals are back with game 4.

I have 2 diesels to weather. Going to spray them this morning with the initial matte clear coat. Then put them in the dehydrator for 4 hours. Then a good fade.

I did the 2 diesels in the picture for a friend last month and he sent 2 more of the same yesterday. But I have to get in the car and drive to the daughter’s shop where my spray booth is

For you Chicago Bear fans or former fan like me, you got to admit that’s funny. People are upset because a state that should actually declare bankruptcy and a city that can’t afford its teachers won’t give a profitable NFL team worth 7+ billion a tax break. Best of luck Indiana

I’m leaving before I cross the line

What temp do you set the dehydrator for?

79°F/75°F this soupy morning. Supposed to be 95°/107°F today and the heat warnings are already being issued around here. This is due to last until Thursday before the temperature breaks into the mid-80°Fs on Friday, then low 80°Fs Saturday and Sunday. At least the weekend will be pleasant...if it isn't raining.

It's like a tropical jungle outside right now at 0845. I can only imagine what it's going to be like at 1300-1700 this afternoon. I won't be spending any time outside today except for Willow to do her business.

Played guitar at a moderate volume along with the PA on, and Willow didn't seem to be bothered by it. Today, I'm going to up the volume a bit, not at club-level, but a little higher today. I'm trying to find the volume level that starts bothering her so I keep it below that level.

Ordered a few groceries and dog food and waiting on delivery later this morning. I'm starting Willow on the Purina Pro Plan that Lisl used to eat. I ordered the lamb. I hope she likes it. Lisl wouldn't touch the chicken blend, so I switched to lamb and she gobbled that right up. We'll see if Willow likes it.

Today, (and on a Tuesday as well) 09JUN81 was my first day of Basic Training at Lackland Airplane Patch in San Antonio. That June and July was the most miserable weather I had ever experienced. Many days the red flag was flying which meant we had to stay on the covered drill pads for drill and marching. Salt residue was the norm on your cover and uniform. Much water was drunk and salt tablets handed out on request. The worst was always being soaked in uniform whenever you were outside. Other than the miserable weather, basic training was a breeze after living with a strict SMSgt AF father. I was already accustomed to being yelled at, following orders, and paying attention. Marching was my favorite activity. I could have done that all day if it weren't for the temperature. One of the assistant DIs taught us some extra movements that the others didn't learn. Just some fancier stuff moving as a flight. It was pretty cool to learn.

I would try and get out of 0500 PT by swapping Dorm Guard two-hour shifts right at 0400 with whomever had that time slot assigned. They could sleep an extra hour before reveille, and I didn't have to be in the heat for at least another hour before breakfast chow and could stay dry a little longer.

Except for the heat and humidity, I had a really great time in Basic.

Have a cool day if it's possible where you ive. And if not, take care in this heat.

Servus!

Morning all,

Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes on mom's passing. I am glad I was there, although I wish I was actually there with her. The wife's father did a similar thing, in that it seemed he waited and when my Brother-in-law left the room, he passed.

Now I see the full bore of Family Dynamics in action. I keep having the line from "The Homecoming", "Johnboy, you make them children behave."
Downside of being the oldest. I am the only one they'll all talk to. At least there isn't an estate to fight over.

Storms overnight here were pretty much overblown. They were pretty well spent to the north, but we did get some rain, which doesn't help with humidity. It was 94° yesterday with a feels like of 108°. Similar for today.

Good Morning All. Mostly cloudy and 76° with the high today only reaching 92°. Moderate (for us) weather for a few days with maybe thunderstorms on Sunday. But that's a long time away weather-wise.

A question regarding a topic discussed here lately: Isn't all beef grass-fed??? I haven't noticed much difference myself other than being a slight bit leaner.

Just an ordinary day around here yesterday, mostly household tasks like laundry and grilling a ribeye. Nolan Ryan brand. Made a Broccoli-Cauliflower salad and sauteed Mushrooms to go with it. I did use the weedeater for a while but didn't bother with mowing. That's for today.

Slow day out in the train shed as well. I did pick out a name for one of the backdrop buildings and added a black interior to the windows, but both are temporary.

I originally had liquid solvent leak through and stain some of the walls, so I want to paint the whole thing...just not now. I learned from that experience with the solvent and I do it differently now. This DPM wall section came from the old train room and was probably originally built in 1988 or so. I also have the 12 window frames already painted and stored, but I don't remember where! But this will do for now until I find those frames and I will paint it when I do. Another upcoming discovery adventure going through boxes from under the layout.
The other structure got a name as well.

And it got as driveway as well.

Kevin - You're welcome. I don't think of it as stealing my idea, I posted it to share.
Michael - Years ago, I bought at least 10 sets of unpainted figures that Preiser put out. Each different set had about 120 figures in it. I am still painting them! I also purchased some smaller sets from Atlas and Walther's. Recently my granddaughter has gifted me with some Chinese sets from Evemodels. I also repaint some of the pre-painted Chinese sets. Currently there are over 1300 figures on my layout.

Late guitarist/designer Les Paul was born on this day in 1915.

Everyone have a great Tuesday.

Preiser still makes those unpainted sets. They also make painted sets too. IIRC, one is a sitting set for passenger wagons, seats, and benches, and the other is a standing or walking set.

Long live Les Paul! Several dealers on the internet have a replacement toggle switch placard for the Les Paul guitar. Normally these are labeled Treble & Rhythm. The novelty placard is labled 'Les Paul' and 'More Paul' I loved that when I saw it, but I don't want to change the originality of any of my Les Paul guitars.

Morning all! Back in the Brew City after a week in Birmingham to bid an old friend goodbye. We had late flights, and didn't land until local midnight, and didn't get in the front door until around 1AM, considerably past our bedtimes! Add another hour or so to unpack some critical stuff and decompress enough to get to sleep, and you get an unproductive day today! It's always nice to go back south, but this time was kind of somber. We spent most of the visit with his widow, as she and my wife go all the way back to elementary school, and Cindy wanted to be there when family and other friends go back to normal life post funeral. It was weird being in his house without him there. Oh well. Don't want to go all maudlin! I did manage to see some family and I even got to see Mikey (PinkFloyd) down at the McWayne Center and look at the progress on his club's layout. This was an important lighter hearted moment in the trip. In my absence the express boxcars for the SP mail train I'm doing over on my passenger car thread showed up, and a set of express trucks I ordered for one of them should show up today when our mail delivery starts back up. I see intermittent naps in my immediate future today!
