Cost me a pretty penny. Was not impressed as the steaks were lean. No taste, not soft, not juicy. I hope this was just this place and not indicative of the feed type
I’ve had some grass fed steaks before. They were pretty good but they’re different. Most IS beef is finished with corn so they develop a different tastes. Probably because of the extra fat from the corn.

I do like the grass fed butter.

Does anyone else do big batches of people so they are ready to use when needed?
I don't really do big batches, but I keep a supply of unpainted and partially-painted figures next to the workbench. Whenever I am painting something, anything, I pick out a few figures that I think could use that color paint and dab them. I eventually spray them with dull coat, keeps the paint from fading or chipping as well as taking the shine off; and then put them into a bead-craft box for eventual use.

I actually have another of these boxes with a few more categories like "Hardhats", "Road Workers", "Firemen/Police" and others, but I don't have a picture of it. I have about 425 in this and the other box for ready use. Somewhere else, I have a stash of farm animals, mostly cows, also ready for use. Fellow forum member Chet, unexpectedly sent me 85 cows to add to the 30 or so that I already had. Some of them ended up in the background of the recently completed neighborhood project that I documented here.

Willie, thanks for the great idea of keeping the different poses separate from each other that way. I am gonna shamelessly steal your idea! 😁

Thoughts for the day...........

July 12, 2026: Mailing services will see an average 4.8% increase, with the First-Class Mail Forever stamp rising from 78¢ to 82¢.

I ordered a couple of these boards from Amazon.
DKARDU 2 pcs DC 5V-36V Relay Module Digital LED Relay Board Trigger Cycle Switch Delay Timer Module with Screwdriver Red and Black Cable
Twice now they have had me to "Approve" my order due to a delay in shipping. Ordered on June 5 and delivery on the 6th that didn't happen. Todays new approval says they will let me know when they ship. Same message yesterday.

Some more 3D printing on some fascia panels going on today. Some black matte finish PLA filament from Amazon is supposed to arrive today.

I have seen a couple of YouTube videos on this item : Xtool M2 Color Craft Laser Cutter. Looks pretty neat.

Have a great day........John

I'd like to have that many figures I'd need a box to separate them all. After a new set of figures arrive, they go directly to the layout. I buy them where I need people and there are never any extras.

I gave in. I was going to wait until tomorrow when Mother Nature turn the heat up to 95°F, but the DP (76°F) is way too high for me already at 87°F. I buttoned up the house and turned the A/C on. I got tired of sitting here frying in my own fat. Down to 82°F heading for 72°F and I can already tell the air is drying out.

The condensate hose on my A/C probably has a steady stream coming out of it.

On another front, many of you know that I occasionally dabble in the stock market. I have known for years that an amateur like me can't time the market dips for the perfect buying opportunity, but after much prodding from my wife, I made an attempt last Friday. I made a purchase of Micron Technology stock at what I thought was a good low point of $937; it was at $1079 when the market closed Wednesday, so it seemed like a good dip to me! Well, of course it went down further and closed Friday at $858, an immediate loss of $79 per share. Thankfully it has recovered somewhat today and is currently at $934, so I have only lost $3 per share. If I had only waited a few more hours, I could have made a bunch. But I am a buy and hold stock trader and will probably never sell it. It has risen 278% this year alone, and 918% in the last 12 months, so I am already late for dessert!
Note that the Stock Market is not for the faint-hearted!

Got some more time on the layout this afternoon. Simply getting air-dry clay on to fill in gaps and make some more shaping on the upper level. Annoyed at myself for managing to break not one, but two Chooch Tunnel Portals! At least they are clean breaks, so they should glue back togather easily [famous last words...]. Did have a nice surprise when I realized the WS Station is where I can run lights to it. The main part of the town is on the lift out, so I still cannot figure out a way to light it up. Anyway, progress was made.

Are you going to get in on SpaceX IPO on the 12th? I wish I could afford it. I have been waiting for several years for them to go public. The opening price is somewhere around $130 a share, but most places are insisting on a minimum purchase, or at least an account balance of $50K to $100K. I don't have the full poop on it, and things may change between now and the 12th.

Normally yes you would have to have $100k to get in on the IPO fun! But Mr Musk has decided that 20% of the IPO will be held for investors with $2500 accounts. There are a few firms that will be offering it to these low balance holders. I believe Edward R Jones and Fidelity are 2 of those firms

But this SpaceX IPO is so overblown and overpriced at $130 that waiting 3-6 months after the offering is probably the wisest thing to do before buying shares. Don’t chase the market, outthink it. The other thing is that Musk will hold the majority of the voting shares

Per Morningstar

Ahead of the IPO (and following the early 2026 merger with xAI), SpaceX implemented a dual-class share structure. This setup issues super-voting shares to insiders while public investors receive standard shares. According to the SEC prospectus filings, Elon Musk controls 85.1% of the total voting power, giving him ironclad, absolute operational control over the company regardless of how many shares are sold to the public.

To signal confidence to Wall Street regarding this massive valuation, Elon Musk and a few unnamed primary investors have agreed to a strict, total lockup period of 366 days, during which he cannot sell any of his shares

Isn’t that magnanimist of Mr Musk? Let me offer you stock in my company but you have no voting power.

I’m at the Salt Lake City airport. I’m not going anywhere, but we sent my daughter off. (Well she’s through security and on her way to the gate).

She’s off to LAX from here where she’ll meet up with others going on the same adventure. They’re going to Nepal and helping work on some sort of building project like a school. They go from LAX to Singapore, a 16 1/2 hour flight. 12 hour layover there and 5 hour flight to Nepal.

The thing is organized through a group called HXP (hxp.org). My daughter heard about it last year and she decided to send herself.

Now comes the tense wait for her to get there safely. They “confiscate” their phones and similar stuff in LAX and they don’t give them back until they get back to LAX in 2 1/2 weeks. They call it a “digital fast”. The group will notify us of progress and they have a Google photos so we can see about their trip progress.

They come home through Tokyo and spend a day there on the way back. We’re hoping she can see her aunt in Tokyo.

I had/have the opportunity to buy SpaceX through Fidelity. Not touching or considering it until it settles out. I got my son into RocketLab around 2 years ago and he's up about 1000%. I bought it much later around $40.

The best way, in my opinion, to take advantage of the space and defense market is through an ETF like XAR.

MU and SNDK are positioned well in the memory chip sector for a long time to come. I just think there will be pull back around the midterms making the price more attractive.

Not to quibble here, but the figure is actually 30% for "retail buyers". But I won't be one of them anyway. I see most IPO's start big and then settle down much lower in 3-5 months. The dual-share class structure is actually quite common, with examples like Berkshire Hathaway, Meta and Ford.
My thoughts are that much of the volatile market downturn of recent weeks (especially last Friday), is because traders are selling ahead of the SpaceX IPO, in order to free up funds to get in on the IPO.

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those with jokes

It's Troy again...

Got a new kitchen gadget over the weekend. Wife wanted to start putting up healthy snacks for her new diet. Stuff that we could get to last over the winter.

And, i did discover that the local big box grocery (Meijer) has a Organic Grass Fed 100% ground beef line. And it's on sale (buy one get one at 40% off.) That makes it slightly above regular ground beef by about 10¢ a pound.

So, I'll be stocking up on that.

Didn't get to Costco today. I'll go tomorrow.

You can also peel potatoes with that hand lathe. Then you chop the taters up, fry them, maybe with some onions and make potato pancakes Serve them with apple sauce and or sour cream. Delicious! My wife sometimes adds in bits of chocolate! (I can't eat those because of the sugar. :( )

I use my dehydrators to dry then cure the paint in freight cars, diesels and lately structure walls. But to each their own!!!

Yep, 30% thanks for the correction. We are sitting out the IPO but will look seriously at it in 3-4 months but I’m not gung ho for it. I just don’t trust Musk even though Terry keeps saying he’s made us money. I did trust Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger at Berkshire
