Grass mowing and trimming done for another 10 days. Stamina is getting better. I got 3/4 cut before having to take a break. My legs start feeling like rubber bands after awhile. If it wasn't for that I could probably finish in one go.

Lunch is on, so gotta run.

Willow does not like the weed eater at all.

And the Ceiling gophers have been excised for now.

I have 5 different patterns of ceiling tiles now.

I *MIGHT* add a light or two in the corners where the center divider comes out from the back wall. But that's where the zombies come from, so lots of lighting in the structures planned for diabolical stuff. A tad darker there won't hurt (for now).

After the waythey have been playing the last few weeks, we have no right to give anyone grief!
A Cubs fan always has the right to give a Cardinals fan grief. Cardinals-Cubs is the National league version of Yankees- Red Sox.

Don’t worry, the Cubs will string together another winning streak. The 2026 Cubs are the baseball equivalent of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Back from my checkup with my Primary Doc. Just left the car when I heard the sound of rotary wing aircraft close by. Moving West to East, low and fast, just above the trees, UH-1Yankee and AH-1Zulu. With a perfect background no less, and I didn't have my phone handy. Damn! That would have been a great video.
Marine Aviation is becoming more common around here.

I do too! I never saw a game there in person, but I saw many on TV when my Orioles were on those lengthy road trips west.

People often talk about the wind at Wrigley. The wind at old Comiskey was insane!
Old Comiskey Park was a right of passage for us South Siders. My 1st game there I was probably 7 or 8 (1960) as it was Scout Day and I was a Cub Scout. Nellie Fox, Luis Arparico, Jim Landis, Lollar catching, many others. Probably 100 games there over the years to what I thought was a Catherdal of Baseball. After starting to see other stadiums as a teen and than an adult, what a dump. I had been to Dodger Stadium and Anaheim for the Angels, Kansas City for theeA’s before Charley Finley moved them to Oakland and they were all clean not dingy, actual urinals versus a trough that even Lambeau still had into the 80’s.

Because the White Sox played mainly night games at home except Sundays and Holiday doubleheaders the air was heavy and damp off the Lake though not as close to the water Wrigley is. I was in Comiskey the last time with Terry b4 we got married 9/18/76 so maybe August. Took the kids to the new soulless Sox park in the 90’s.

There is a training going on based out of Polk Field maybe 100 miles north of here started 6/1 to 6/15 and 16 F35’s have flown over the house in the last 1/2 hour or so. The sounds of freedom maybe 1000’ up. Loud and proud machines

Wow! Memories

I remember Cal Ripken's first appearance at Comiskey. He was batting and hit a foul ball up into one of the camera wells. A kid jumped in there and got the ball. He was thrilled but one of the Andy Frain Ushers came down and took the ball away from him for going into the well. Our whole section started booing and created such an uproar they actually delayed his batting! No one on the field had any idea of what had happened. Finally another Usher comes back and gives the kid his baseball back. We never saw hide nor hair of the other one!

Well, got the new plate for the car today.

But the old plate is very attached the chariot and refuses to leave.

Of course, all I have to break loose a stubborn rusted screw is WD-40. Tomorrow morning, it will be a trip to the hardware for some penetrating oil, and a couple of new screws. Perhaps even a much longer screw driver. This one is already stripping out on the Philips head. So a wide slotted on may be called for.

Having one of these around is great for stubborn screws and smaller bolts. A couple whacks with a hammer and they break loose. They also wont strip the head.

About 1500 today outside with Willow, a B-2 flew directly over my house heading north. Looked to be about 12K to 15K in altitude. Ran in to the computer to see him heading north on radar, but he didn't show up. That didn't surprise me though. I didn't have my phone either.

This popped up on FB this afternoon

She's the one I complained about to the NMRA. When I asked if the board new she branded what she has repeated called "MY PERSONAL FACEBOOK PAGE" while having the URL of the page be facebook.com/lucynmra with a blue checkmark

She can pay for the blue checkmark herself, but keep the org branding off the page if you claim it's "personal"
Why pay for a blue checkmark for a "personal" facebook page? It took one search to see that she has a family and friends oriented facebook page. THAT one is "personal"... the one with the blue checkmark was a "professional" page.

And FB doesn't handle author pen names well. I could get a blue checkmark on either a business page, send them my LLC paperwork - which is not my pen name. Or get it on my real name (not the pen name).

Once she put the NMRA in the URL/Pagename, she's repping the org. And people wanted to hold her accountable to being a voice of the org when she promoted that page.

I haven't read deep enough to see what got her in a tizzy this week, but she doesn't take even constructive criticism well.

While I'm sorry she's had such a rough year in her position, she' proven several times (many times over) she's not the professional communications leader her position needed.

Maybe I should send Gordy my resume?

build miniature worlds with their layouts
I watch a lot of history / national geographic channel stuff and most of the geology / train stuff come with a British accent...

On the UK forum that I visit (no botfly here), they are very fierce when it comes to prototype. You don't dare to run a Great Western loco with a Southern coach. If that Stroudley LB&SCR E1 #123 had a tapered chimney, then that manufacturer better put a tapered chimney on it. The manufacturers do open the conversation with an announcement and they accept inputs during design and engineering phases. But if it does come out incorrect, they get to hear about that as well.

The Home Depot in Wichita Falls Tx will sell seperate ceiling tiles IF they have a full package that was damaged in handling. Some times they are located over by the smaller cut plywood pieces.
I feel like if someone who comes into your train room is more interested in your ceiling than the layout, well they are kinda missing the whole point. The only draw back to accustic ceiling tiles is they tend to "shed" some of that white stuff over time. I have a 14 x 16 portable building I use as my drafting office and I have had to deal with this shedding through the years. Some folks spray a clear coat over the tiles to prevent the white stuff from comming off.
