I was chatting with a Master Chief Fire Controlman who used to work at the Mobile Technical Unit, before my time. He told me that he'd find intermittent issues by turning the AC off in the space and let it heat up the equipment until he found the weak spot. The only issue I had with that technique is that we used discrete component cards back then. All resistors, capacitors, transistors. No IC chips. On cards that were about 2 x 3 inches, a ton of them. Sometimes, if you heat the card up, any cold solder joints get tighter and make a better connection.
Rapido wrote back and told me to send it. I hope they can get it going. One of the bad things about this model is that you have to break it in order to get the body shell off. There is a control rod that is glued to the shell and goes through the side that doesn't come off the body. I should have waited for the reviews as I would have either not bought it, or after I got corrupted, would have bought the DCC sound fitted model.
I did manage to minimize the damage and can get it put back into place with a tiny drop of PVA.
Chet - I won't use a the touchscreen for anything. First of all, I am a short person and it's too far away for me to comfortably use without leaning right and forward. Secondly and more importantly, I no longer take my eyes off the road and the other drivers to look at it, except when backing up in parking lots slowly! In our Lexus, there is a manual control for everything on the touchscreen. I am getting used to certain features that I like though. The Blind-Spot Monitoring system is very useful on the highway, and the auto windshield wipers are quite handy. Remote start with heated seats and steering wheel is nice in the winter.
John - Since both of my daughters live in Richardson, we went to the Neighborhood Services in Addison. Nice place but overpriced and the food quality was uneven. The service was excellent though, and I left a $130 tip.
Oak Lawn area: I lived in that area when we first got married back in 1972; and it was getting weird back then.
Addison is still a nice area and where Discount Model Trains is located as you and I well know.
Odd coincidence as my first wife and I lived on Oak Lawn at Holland Street in some apartments there back in 1972. I worked for an engineering firm only several blocks away in the Turtle Creek Office towers. I remember going to Phils Delicatessen for their cheesecake. I think all those buildings I mentioned have been demolished and replaced with something new.
Wow......$130.00 tip. I have never spent $130 at any one time on any meal !

Been fighting with learning my new DCC system this afternoon. Got some of it running, a couple of successes, especially pleasantly surprised at a used Bachmann Ten wheeler that took right off and seemed quite happy with the attention. Gonna be a long learning curve I'm afraid! Anyway, always good to learn new stuff.
His voice did get annoying after a while. Back in my ipod days i had the greatest hits abum but that was it i was more of a poison or crue fan. Then i got heavier into slayer metalica and the likes now on my spotify i have everything from slayer to britney spears to eminem
First adventure into DCC. My home layout is only 3' x 6'8", so DC has worked well. I picked up a Bachmann Ten Wheeler with DCC last year and it runs fine on DC, but when a friend was upgrading and no longer needed this system [he was only using it to program engines] I picked it up cheap. The Bachmann runs great on this system and a couple of DC tests worked fine, so I know the system is working okay. The Kato and BLI will not run on either, so I am wondering if I am having the problem, or if their decoders are bad.
today in home office but airport is up and running.
summer vacations will start soon so the airport will get busy again.
last weekend i had to moderate the freestyle event. it was hot (around 38 celcius) overall great event, but maybe had to much beer
So sunday was just chill. i still have to find time to go back to the layout room.. i have so much "work" to do. but summer hits different
