The claim is they hit something, but in 700’ of water on a normal route seems fishy to me. Lucky they got to port but I think we may find out it’s metal fatigue. Heck, the ore carrier is 70+ years old. I love watching the ore boats entering harbors in Duluth/Superior they are massive boats

There is this PHD / Firefighter / Ex Merchant Marine guy on U-Tube who writes on (Marine) shipping, primarily concentration on our dependence on foreign everything. Seems that the Great Lakes shipping is at issue because operators are extending the life of old ships well beyond expectancy. The cost of building new vessels is very high, and the time it takes to build a new ship now averages 7 to 10 years. The lake yards are engaged but cannot find sufficient skilled help. Federal government it completely unconcerned, more concerned with overseas.
 
Found a new construction for Mike's (@migalyto) to build for his layout, well, to paint at least.

Rocks? One mans curse is another mans treasure. I have made countless trips to the mountains and forests to bring in some rocks to my yard.
Reading some British car magazines i read that the lads over there solve a lot of their car issues sitting in front of a pitcher of beer😃
 
Good morning, all! Crap, I need a baler. I mowed yesterday and boy do I have a lot of clippings to rake up. My own fault, let mowing go to long.

Has anyone one here tried Mudd Creek Models. I found a couple that I might like to try. Here's a couple,

Good afternoon. It's sunny and 97, with humidity to match.
I'm remaining indoors today after heading out early this morning to get my hair cut. I've tallied the damage from our electrical meltdown, and the results aren't something I want to think about. While I didn't go into great detail, there were power surges that fried my whole-house surge protector, UPS system for my desktop computer, base station for my 5G wifi system, the desktop computer itself, and monitor. The air conditioning system shut itself down after about the second blast of voltage before things got out of hand, so they are okay. The fridge didn't happen to be running, so it seems to have been spared. My television was unplugged after the recent episode of it being turned on remotely, so no trouble there.
The cellular provider swapped the base station, and the UPS and surge protector are considered consumables, so I had to eat the cost of those. I leave the trains unplugged when I'm not using them, so no problem there. Dell said they're going to replace the monitor, and HP is dragging their feet about what they're going to do with the desktop. They said they want to get it back and test systems before making a determination. I've learned not to volunteer anything when dealing with companies... If they won't fix it, I'll probably replace it with a good laptop. I do have laptops now, but they are not what would be considered desktop replacements.
