Here's my errant post from this morning - lightly edited for timing.. Apologies to McLeod for hitting the wrong thread while the caffeine was loading.
Well, howdy there internet peeps, and those with bushes that need to be cemented in place.
It's Troy again...
THIS thing is arriving today, according to UPS:
Unfortunately, I pre-ordered it right before my tinnitus went nuts.
I just learned that this new generation of hearing aids is using the new Bluetooth LE Audio (not the old version of Low Energy BT). And my iPhone is out of date to stream with. It will still work to control the hearing aids, but the streaming and phone call capabilities will be hampered.
So, I figured I'd sell this printer new in box. Got it listed on the local gamer sites. I'll add it to the MRR email lists in a bit if the gamers don't bite.
Selling it off will cover the phone upgrade I need to do. Prices are low at AT&T right now for graduation specials. Wife is grumpy enough about $5K for the hearing aids. Adding a new phone is going to make her grump.
As for the tinnitus, stress levels dropping about Mom is helping. And a found a sound app that seems to help. Yesterday was a very good day for tinnitus thanks to playing that sound combo. It's the Widex Zen Tinnitus app. It works through earbuds or headphones. A wide variety of sounds on it, but the "Tropical Night" with its croaking frogs, crickets and other sounds worked a charm. I ran it all night through a sleep headband

The headband is pretty cheap, since it's trying to be un-obtrusive. A touch of annoying the first night or two, but I settled in to where I can sleep with it. Uses bluetooth to stream audio, and I connected to my iPhone. Need to pay it with the iPad instead. If I forget to turn the headband off, it fights with the hearing aids if they're both in range of the phone.

Update: the AT&T store got hammered on the specials on the iPhone 14. they told me they were all out. More expected next day or two.
And after my tumble today, I was icing the knee, and realized that I was on the last day for my license plates on the car. Ooops. I did get an email about that, in the middle of moving Mom and taking care of her stuff. So, off to the BMV
Round trip was only about 45 minutes. 15 to get there, 10 waiting on two people in front of me to use the Kiosk in the lobby.
Soooo much nicer than dealing with DMV branches in California. One thing that our old Governor "Mitch" did before he left to head up Purdue Univ was get the BMVs working well. They do have their moments, but I sure appreciate the changes after living in California for 4 years.
