It was great to see the heroes welcome the surviving veterans recieved yesterday as they walked through the first French villges to be liberated in 1944.

Hearing Aids: VA gives me a new set every 4 years whether I need them or not. Same with my reading/up close glasses. Currently have Phonak's ( don't remember the model ) which take out most of the Tinnitus. I also am 50% of the normal sound range. Can hear high pitched whine and rumble of the BNSF and other big things which is a good thing.

Somehow they are able to get around my add blocker. I noticed there are a few on Yioutube getting through too. Are they finally adapting?
Maybe if we load the app on our phones it would go away!

Good Morning All. Yep! It's D-Day today. Here it's clear and 67°. Hasn't rained in 26 hours! However it's still a soggy mess out there.
It's weekly grocery trek Thursday today. While groceries are the prime destination, I have to include side-stops at the Vitamin Store, Home Depot, pharmacy, pool center and the hearing aid center at Sam's Club. Wife had the new cell phones set up and activated yesterday, but the hearing aid app didn't load right and I need to have it fixed.
RANT:
Meanwhile I struggle with the new phone. It's a Galaxy S24 and the set up leaves a lot to be desired. I have to go in and reset passwords for all apps and join Google this or that, or Samsung this or that, or T-Mobile this or that to do anything. Plus it has so many pre-loaded apps that I will never use or even understand what they are to begin with. I deleted at least a dozen yesterday; things like Spotify, Linkedin, Facebook and others. I need a phone for two things mainly, talking to others and as an alarm clock! I don't text, look at movies, listen to music, participate in social media or any of that other shit that they pre-install. I never even used the calculator on the old one. But I do use the hearing aid app to fine-tune my devices and I sometimes use the plane flight app to see what is passing overhead when I see something unusual. OK, I'll admit that I did use the phone to access this forum when the tornado knocked out the power lines last month. And to top everything else off, the protective cover that I have for the old phone does not fit on the new one!
END OF RANT.
In line with life sorta getting back to normal, the pool water temperature got up to 80° late yesterday. It's still not clear, but it is now a cloudy blue instead of a murky greenish-yellowish-brown. I spent the afternoon assembling the new ladder/steps that we bought last month to replace the old one. But it's only half done right now. It's not easy to do right now because I don't have a dry place outside to spread it out and assemble. Wait! I just thought of something. The contractors left two sawhorses and a piece of plywood over by the train shed that I can use as a workbench later today. Wish I had thought of that yesterday, it would have been done already!
I didn't visit the train shed yesterday, so no update there. I'm pressed for time this morning so I cannot search pictures in the archives. Hopefully an update tomorrow morning.
James - While mine are not as expensive as yours, I believe in getting almost top of the line hearing aids for myself. I have had the cheapo ones before when I first got a pair. Just not worth it. Mine cost $3600, but I got a $300 trade-in! I'm at ~50% in each ear.
Tom O - 8:30 isn't too early for me! I wake up around 4:00 every day without an alarm even after 8.5 years of retirement, like I did for 43 years beforehand. I have been making it past 9 at night more regularly in the past two years. Even if I stay up until midnight for parties/celebrations, I still get up at 4:00 without the alarm.
David - I hope that your granddaughter is doing well after her accident at school.

Patrick - Garden shots looking good. Unfortunately mine was devastated by the tornado. All developing Tomatoes were blown off the vines. The same with the Green Bean flowers. While it looks like most everything survived, everything has been set back and the constantly wet soil may eventually cause some root rot.

Good Morning All!
45F @ 69% and clear again. Only made it to 75F yesterday probably because of the slight wind. Tries for 80F and up today.
Hit construction from the MT/ID State line all the way to US2/US95 junction ( about 20 miles ) which really slowed us down. 1st 1/2 was installing guardrails, 2nd was milling/repaving. Was not sure we were gonna make that appointment.
Heart Doc was happy yesterday and found no problems. He did tell my that my bad Cholesterol was slightly elevated. Then he told me that he did not care as the good Cholesterol was through the roof!
Since we knew about the construction, decided to reroute to ID/MT200 at Ponderay to SR56 in Montana up to US2 near Troy. That way is something like 13 miles longer but a whole bunch faster. Anyway, decided to stop in Hope, ID for lunch and found a floating restaurant on Lake Pend D'Oreille. No pix from the seat, but above where we parked:
You are looking somewhat South toward Sandpoint and Ponderay. Sandpoint is across the lake just to the right of that center boathouse and Ponderay just to the left of that last little hill on the right center way across the lake. You can almost see the Schweitzer Basin ski area above that white boat on the right. Did not get the real camera out for this, so cell phone crap. Service and food were both good, but a tad spendy. Worth it as Maria was happy.
Nother thing about Hope. There is also a N.Hope area which are mostly houses. Well, using artist license, my railroad is also going to have a Hope location. Will have No Hope, We Hope and So Hope. East Hope won't work because of the mountains around it. I did pace a BNSF on xMrl, xNp between Hope and Clark Fork but the road was too skinny for window shots. Clark Fork is where the ...wait for it ... Clark Fork river flows into the lake.

Willie: They really load up those phones don't they? Kinda like DirecTV/CableTV with all of the stuff you never watch or even want to. Everybody gets a slice of your money when they do that. You are good, removing the unwanted stuff is the 1st thing I do when a new phone arrives! Same with Windoz and Linux machines. When Motorola was doing phones, you could get what you wanted without the extra crap. We now have LG's that come with that crap. When we did the Galaxy's a few years back I did like the phone ... after I got used to it. I am just a tad different than you as I Talk/Text/Pix with'm along with using that calculator on occasion. I can add pretty good in my head until we get to 4 digit numbers then I let my fingers do the work. Get a protector as it will save you grief. I use Otter's.RANT:

Willie: Sorry you're not having as much luck due to rain. While the smaller ponds are finally full here, the lakes aren't yet showing much improvement. They are up some, but no where near where they need be.
TomO: My wife is much like yours. I'm the spendthrift in our relationship. I knew early on that I needed to let her handle the finances, and then broke her budgeting last month with an unexpected $12,000 payment. Good part about that payment is we're now debt free...and her budget has recovered.
My newest vehicle is an 8 year old Equinox we bought 6 years ago with 30,000 miles on it and my oldest is my 12 year old Colorado with 70,000 miles on it currently. 62000 miles in the 40 months I've owned it. Last new vehicle I bought was the 2009 Colorado during the cash for clunkers deal. $4500 for an '88 Chrysler 5th Ave with 225,000 miles on it. How could I not...

Morning folks
57F, all blue sky, and a forecast high of 79. Perhaps a tad bit on the warm side for me but quite acceptable. After being up 5 time with my wife Tuesday night, yesterday was more than a little slow. Last night I was only summoned once. That probably hasn't happened for at least a year.
I did get in some bench time yesterday but it's hard to concentrate when you're falling asleep in your chair. The lawn needs haying again today.
