Morning from the far West! Even though the local temp did not make it back into the 80's - the guess is that today it will. Supposed to be 80 with sunny - after the JUNE GLOOM wears off around noonish.
The June Gloom is fog and low overcast from the ocean about 20 miles away.

I had a monster RANT primed up, but decided against it; just tired of hearing all the negative!!
It's my country as well as yours, so just Shut Up!!

Probably said too much already!!

Don't waste your time on rants Sherrel.
None of it matters anyways.
Can only control model trains and what's between our ears. :)

Chad - Do the Mormon missionaries do anything in the US? I have never had one visit here. Most of the missionaries that used to come here, turned away as soon as I told them that I was a practicing Catholic, except the Jehovah Witnesses'. They were persistent, twice a year, rain or shine. I actually recognized one middle-aged gentleman who had visited several times. They stopped coming when he and a mid-30's woman came one time and I answered the door and even walked out on the porch wearing only my birthday suit, intentionally. She turned her head and he politely said that it must have been a bad time to visit. Haven't seen them in over 15 years now.
Hi Willie. Yes, they also work in the US / Canada. In fact the majority may be in the US though with the number sent to Mexico and south to Cape Horn is also a very large number and then add in all the other international locations in Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Pacific and international missionary assignments may outnumber those in the US. I was in Germany back 86-87 and my wife was in her home country, Japan, in the early 90s.

They're in Texas as well but probably don't "knock doors" (which is the last on their list of activities since it is the least effective) out in the boonies very often. I could arrange a visit if you wanted one :)

I like your strategy to "discourage" the visits. When I was in Germany some had people answer in their birthday suits when door knocking, but it never happened to me.

CHAD: As for missionary work: best wishes for your son. The fews times I've seen the "guys on bikes" that I had time for a discussion with them, they were heading away from our neighborhood. Usually they knock and I have to do a polite "No thanks..." before returning to what was at hand...

Not that they would have had any luck with a conversion of me. Chances are exactly the same as me converting them to Pastafarianism. But I would enjoy the discussion and learning more about what their mission work is like. That's the journalist in me, trying to understand what other people's lived/living experience are. Ah, well. Perhaps I'll get that conversation on the patio some day.

Troy -- I'm sure they'd enjoy speaking to you. Some of my best memories from when I was in Germany doing the same thing back in the mid-late 80s were related to conversations with people who were not seeking something and therefore interested but had an interest in learning and understanding what we were about and politely engaged us in conversation.

Others may correct this, but I believe in most parts of the USA you only need a license if you do it commercially. For example, Willie can fly it and post pics and videos of his to YouTube or the web.
Willie may want to check the rules. I should know but have not done flying since the FAA changed the rules for RC aircraft including quad copters / drones. I believe it requires a simple license for anything over a certain weight, and that weight is not that heavy. But IDK.

Pills: Boy what a PITA those are.
I know what you mean. I have 8 taken 12 times daily plus the baby aspirin and an assortment of supplements. Four of them are for BP alone. WHY? Doctor says it is more effective to prescribe multiple medications at lower doses and it causes fewer side effects. OK, but it is still hard to keep track of! If my pill shelf got rearranged, I'd be in trouble!

Good morning all!

Getting a late start again today! Not too much on the agenda, but we shall see. Just a quick check in, so I dont come on this afternoon and have 3 pages of posts to read. :D

Willie-That drone looks fun and will be useful with the amount of property you have.

Have a safe day all!

Afternoon All,

As you know today was tooth extraction day. I was the first appointment of the day, and the surgeon was still almost 45 minutes late. That really irritates me when doctors do that. I was going to give him an hour then cancel only because it really needed done today. When he finally arrived, he worked quickly and appeared to be good at his job. The actual removal only took about 10-15 minutes and felt like it came out fairly easy. At this point the pain killer has worn off and currently I just have some soreness. Tomorrow is doing all the last-minute things for the trip on top of a short notice trip to the VA for Dad's broken CPAP machine. I'm really going to be pissed if it's something he has done to it...again.

Chet- Great layout photos.

Mac- Great 1:1 photos. I'm impressed with you milling your own rims. I have a "leased" Heritage 2-8-8-2 labeled for Clinchfield on my layout.

Troy- I hope you were able to use all your tokens.

Sherrel- Thank you and thanks for the advice. The new kitchen is beautiful.

TomO- Sounds like a busy day. Congrats to the twins. Hope the sunburn heals quickly.

Chad- I'm glad your son finally made it to Japan, and I wish him well in his endeavors.

Guy- Thank you. It's coming along. It seems like it takes forever then suddenly one day you're done.

David- I'm not adverse to a National Service for one year. I think everyone should do something for their country (not military).

Bill- Interesting photo.

JohnU- Thank you. Congrats on the new boxcar and diesel.

Willie- Thank you. Can you re-wet them and then put weight on them until dry?

Jay- How are you able to take tarmac photos without security getting involved?

I hope everyone has a good night.
