Good Morning All. Cloudy and 73°. It's been 14 hours since the last thunderstorm. Forecast calls for more around noon today, and then nothing for a week. While I hope that's the case, I will believe it when I experience it. Rainfall total yesterday came to 1", with a half inch falling in two separate thunderstorms each. High winds during the first one blew some debris around, but no additional damage has been seen. But, I can't get to some parts of the estate!!!
Since I was trapped in the house during the storms instead of in the train shed, I decided to explore my new toy. My grandson bought a new drone in March, and I purchased his old one from him last week. It's a DJI Mini 2 model. Started by examining the drone itself and the control box.
Camera can take stills and videos; it pans up and down and of course the drone itself turns in every direction and even flies in reverse.
A lot of technology in this thing. There's some IR beams that keep it from landing too hard. The PDF instruction manual is 51 pages long.
I've been interested in buying one ever since our late fellow forum member
Eric (Big E) used to describe his drone adventures.
As usual right now, property clean up will continue, dependent on the weather. It's all compounded by the fact that I have 15 acres of soft black mud, and I sink in almost anywhere that I walk. The pool water turned a murky brownish color over the weekend, partly because the alkaline rain that we get has upset the chemical balance, that and the water overflows with any rain that falls. It's still too cold to get in right now due to the cloudy days, so I have time to work it all out. Additional debris blew in yesterday, adding to the issues.
Still not a lot of time out in the train shed. I briefly visited and planned out my approach to some more laser-cut wood structure repairs. Here's a couple of examples of what needs to be addressed.
Waynes Feeds.
This is typical on any American Model Builder's structures that were affected. They all have cardstock roofs which I will remove and either flatten out or replace.
Then there's this rooming house.
This I will probably have to remount on a .040" styrene base. It's already a double wooden base. It can be flattened out as is, but it won't stay. I wasn't having much luck at removing it, yet.
Curt - Good luck with your dental surgery this morning. And have a very safe vacation trip later this week.
Chet - That's more remotes than my wife "The Remote Queen" has. She also has one that she doesn't know what it's for. Can we count the cell phone as a remote??? She has the app for controlling the Shark robotic vacuum cleaner on it!
As usual, I am seeing familiar looking structures on your archival layout photos.
Mac - In your first picture in post #95 yesterday, it appears that the RH track is no longer in service.
Chad - Do the Mormon missionaries do anything in the US? I have never had one visit here. Most of the missionaries that used to come here, turned away as soon as I told them that I was a practicing Catholic, except the Jehovah Witnesses'. They were persistent, twice a year, rain or shine. I actually recognized one middle-aged gentleman who had visited several times. They stopped coming when he and a mid-30's woman came one time and I answered the door and even walked out on the porch wearing only my birthday suit, intentionally. She turned her head and he politely said that it must have been a bad time to visit. Haven't seen them in over 15 years now.
Guy - I think that all of us have a "take forever" layout at times.
Gotta go now, some pressing household chores to do. Everybody have a wonderful day.
