And... IT has arrived!

It's finally raining, and it's 60F rather than the 86F it's been for the past month. We are still breathing; I actually stood out in the rain and let it soak me. Hooray!!! Hopefully life will return back to normal. - I'm going to give the dog a looong walk through the dripping forest.

I was also looking through all my photograph files from 2021. I'm quite happy I took so many photos (100's), because I'm just not seeing some of the engines come here anymore. For example, I haven't seen an SD40 come into town since last year. But, I have photos to prove they were used in our town.

I've brought out a few of my photos to post, because I like posting photos. This is a selection from the local CN yard and the staging yard just outside of town. Most have been seen already; so just reposting old news.
If you are offended, simply skip over to the next post. I'm only posting history.

There, a few photos to look at. I will tell you that I am partial to tank cars for no particular reason.
Perhaps most people are unable to access a railroad as easily as I can. Indeed, I do feel fortunate that I'm able to get close. The only kicker I feel, is that the local stuff is only a spur, more or less, so we don't get much mainline railroading. Then again, I don't really care for the container trains. None of that here.

Sherrel - I had a huge male Bouvier who was 17yrs old. We were deep in the forest on a warm summer day in 2017 when his heart gave out, and he could walk no more. I couldn't carry him out. I tried. To end his suffering, I shot him in the head. Still have not forgiven myself, and will wear it for the rest of my life. I buried him there, beside a creek. - I know how one feels when they loose a best friend.

Have a great day everyone.

Here's something that is rarely seen, but right down my alley! TRAINS & PLANES!
Piper Warrior made an emergency landing due to an engine failure on CSX tracks in Birmingham, AL.

Damn, must have been a bumpy landing. It appears the landing gear held and the aircraft was not destroyed. Once the pilot gets to shower and changes his underwear he will be ready to continue. By the looks of the ties on the track to the right, it's not the first thing recently to have its wheels ride along the ties ;)

Not offended at all. I think we are just about all here because of railroads and history. Keep them coming. I myself am a secret canadian steam lover, but also like the unique classes not present "south of the border".

Guy: Maybe you have not thought about it .... even if you did manage to carry him out, where would you be? He still would have been going downhill to that inevitable ending nobody wants, probably suffering with possible pain. He got to do something you both liked and went away happy. It still is hard to loose a friend, but that is part of life.

Guy: Nice photos...I also use reruns. No biggie. I have also lost my best friends. I understand how you and Sherrel feel.
What local industry uses acid based chemicals in their production. Both the white and the gray have acid placards on them.
There used to be a chemical plant along the Raritan River, in Sayerville, NJ that consumed acid from Canada. Average of two short (36 car) unit trains per week.

Speaking of factories, last night, in South River, NJ, one of those old turn of the previous century brick factory buildings burned down...Only the walls remained standing. Several exposures on a dead end street were also involved.

Photos from Lakewood News Network.

63° and cloudy. Several lines of storms passed through this afternoon, but only 0.17" of rainfall was recorded at the Rutgers weather station. Tomorrow is expected to be Sunny, with a high of 82°.

Orioles - Blue Jays...no score in the 4th. Yankees @ Mets - No score - Rain Delay. Las Vagas won the Stanley Cup in Five Games. Florida - so dominant in previous series - was totally ineffective in the finals. Looking forward to the draft, free agency, and next season. The Devils need to fill a few holes, and the Capitals need to re-tool.

I found my model railroad inventory...dated April 2021. Probably needs a major update. I continued the changeover from late 50s - early 60s to late 60s - early 70s on my layout. Some of my loco fleet still need decoder installation. Bought the decoders before my medical problems overwhelmed me.

Speaking of medical, I completed Cardiac Rehabilitation today, setting a personal record on the Elliptical. Received a certificate for my efforts. Not for nothing, I feel much better for it.

Conrail SA-22 leaving Browns Yard to switch CMC Steel and Hercules on the former Raritan River Railroad, yesterday, 06/13/23.

Enjoy the evening.

Train photos in a train forum what a concept. Those are handy for us weathering folk.

Patrick, glad to see you back.
