Don't know if its still there, but it was a great place, with a great proprietor. Be interested to know if it is still there,
I remember a place with a Hightstown PO, used to advertise in Model Railroader. Never got there myself. I don't think he's still there. Closest remaining shop to me is the Model Railroad Shop in Piscataway. The shop in Point pleasant is internet and train shows now.

Good morning and happy Friday gang!

Our 1st day this year of 90° temps, yech.

Working til 1 today, then going to pick up another 100 ft of spline so I can finish the main lines. Western Maryland Railway Hysterical Society meeting tonight. Planning a dump run for tomorrow, then stopping at HD for some Homasote sheets to rip into 3 1/2" strips to go on top of the spline, then cork then track. Also more work to be done on the nused mower deck for the 1967 Cub. I need a 10 day weekend to get caught up!!

Boris back in the early 70's there were about 8 model railroad stores in a row on 41st street in NYC city right next to Grand Central Station. When I caught a job with a 4 hour swing, I use to walk by them on my way to Tannen Magic on Broadway. where I would hang out until my next run. One by one they started closing until there where none. Why they all closed I don't know? I think it was before the internet so that wasn't the reason. In NY maybe there's Train World in Queens but other than that maybe up near Albany. There's one mostly all Lionel in CT but that's about it around here.

Morning all,

So far, day off and 2 calls. Not like it's my Saturday. I'm supposed to create a knowledge base of my experience the past 8 years of stuff I've learned and know. Sorry, I figure it's job security, at least until I leave on my terms. Everything I know is because I worked through stuff as there was no one to call.

Sorry for the rant, back to your regularly scheduled trains...

Okay, after yet another hour on the phone about the “Notes” problem, I finally figured it out on my own.
There is an issue with iCloud that was causing the crash. I turned off iCloud syncing for Notes, and the app works like it should. Of course, it doesn’t sync with iCloud any more, but is usable on my phone locally.

Look out world... the wife is about to harvest Strawberry ( in a few days)

Good Morning All!

53F @ 71% and partly

Things are progressing as to the redo, abet slowly. Got the new Propane tank in yesterday and the trench covered and somewhat smooth. Medical for me this AM; normal go and see with the heart doc. Actually like the guy - Maria does too.

Got a couple of pix just at dusk. We are getting ever so close to dropping kids. The doe is not cinnamon yet, but the buck is. Don't know why they don't 'become' at the same time. This is a different buck than the one the other day too...

Everybody seems pretty happy out in our back pasture!

Notes (which is what you use to scan on them) crashes on launch with both my iPhone and iPad. I'm not able to scan with either of them.
I have a separate app called "Scanner Pro" I use though it does use iCloud I think to store. There are other scanner type apps in the App Store.

You might want to figure out why Notes is crashing as well. EDIT: Saw that you did after the original post

Good 4:38AM Maui time where it’s very dark as I start typing. It is a 5 hour time difference from back home in Wisconsin but in another day or 2 I should be adjusted and hopefully waking between 6 and 7 local time. No pictures as what I took landing were after the 7:05 PM sunset and we were coming through a thick cloud layer and when we landed, it was dark already. Maybe today. None of the pictures landing can you really define anything.

The brother’s new place on the inside looks good and while the landscaping has some lighting I really can’t tell what it looks like. The brother is in his office guessing at the stock market for another 90 minutes or so, 4-6am is his work day when he’s here.

Lots of catching up here on the forum for me to do as the rest of the family sleep. Terry is troubled sleeper anywhere we go but here it seems. She is soundly sleeping right now and that is her normal when she is here. I wish I could bottle this and bring it back home for her. Later…

enjoy the day

When I went from ITR in Camp Pendleton to Oahu circa '72 it was freezing in CA with ice on puddles. We had dressed for this wearing way to much clothing. Sure, stuff came off during the flight. When we landed the palm trees were bending every which way with the wind and it was raining sideways. So, we put it all back on thinking cold and rain. Ya, 87F at 92% which over powered everybody when the doors opened. You should have seen stuff come off!

Elevation is 270’ above the Pacific Ocean that is maybe a mile away as the bird flies but 3 miles by road. I know the name of the islands in the picture but short term memory loss has occurred

We are located near Wailea-Makena and the island across is kaho’olawe in the pictures above. The almost 20 acres behind us is my brother‘s but ocean views today.

The pictures are with the IPadPro. I sent the brother back into the office, I am not talking politics this morning with him.

George: You're right. All the NYC shops are gone. When I had a layover at NYP, or RR business in Midtown, I would wander by some of them.

We had a few in SE PA and Northern Delaware that were worth going to, but the ones I was familiar with are gone. Central Jersey had quite a few, but most have closed. Lionel and Hi-rail are still more popular around North and Central Jersey.

I'm VERY happy with teh products I bought from Goldrush Bay. Very affordable, with excellent retail, and pretty good 3D printing results.

I have heard that some of their buildings are out of scale, but the ones I got are pretty freakin' sweet, in my opinion.

This first one is a eally nice Victorian style mansion.

It was so nice, I was afraid to try to paint it... I didn't want to mess it up, LOL!
Here it is after painting. I think it came out really nicely.

Another view. In this next pic, you can see the gazebo I bought to go with it.

Both are N scale.

I have looked at them several times. How is the condition when received? Is there a lot of flash and cleanup involved?

Afternoon All,

Started out today at 73F and currently overcast looking like rain, but it has been the same all week with maybe a 1/10" of rain. In the train room I puttered around and did some planning for the area that the power station and distribution center sits. I still haven't decided what I'm going to change it to. Tomorrow morning, I have to get some people into Seaworld. Don't ask. :(

Louis- Sweet car...see what I did there?;)

Smudge- Interesting video. I wonder if MOH would let me have one in the yard (probably not). The buildings look very well made.

Willie- Great track shots.

Jeff- Very nice job on the mansion.

Mike- Hawaii is beautiful, but oh so expensive.

I hope everyone has a good night.

There was a lot of flash, but it cleaned up easily with an exacto blade. Mostly it was just tiny, thin little threads that just needed
'brushed away" with teh sharp edge of a blade. There wasn't any flashing like you would see from injection molding, as these are 3D printed.

In the roof, you could see a pattern from the print. 2 coats of paint obscured it.

The House was $35 and teh gazebo was $15. I thought those prices were very resonable. That was a couple years ago, not sure about current prices. The items were packaged with care, and the house came with a Cert of Authenticity, which I ttook as an indication of pride of workmanship.

I'd buy from them again without hesitation.

That top photo is right out of the box. The camera is picking up a lot of detail you just don't see in person, but if you zoom in, you will see a lot of thin fibers and on the spire, you can see the pattern from printing.

These guy's also do passenger car interiors, which you may remember I was looking for, so next month's budget is already spoken for, but I'm really inclined to start now getting the odd building from these guy's, not for this layout, I've no room left on this one, but for a future layout, which is some years in the future yet, but I'd like to get away from an industrial theme and go maybe for a more small town or rural look to the next one. I'll never have the space to do both, so it's one or the other for me.
