Morning all,

69° and mostly cloudy this morning. Going for a possible high of 82 depending on whether we get rain later or not. I predict not, although we are still short.

For those paying attention to my garden shot, not sure what's going on with the corn. 10 days ago there were more plants and now there are holes in the rows. I suspect something got them. I do have rabbits in the area. They aren't afraid of anything, you can almost pet them. Mine is the only backyard without a dog on a regular basis.

So far quiet. BBL

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those entering meteorological summer (and winter for those down under)

It's Troy again.

Already got some words in today. Did the 3,000 steps while it was coolish. Currently 74 F-degrees and 62% humid-thingies.

Cat and I are out on the patio already. Gonna move back in about lunch time.

No, I'm not trying to learn drumming as the video on the computer shows. But, I do have a bar band in the latest book. When the drummer is strangled with a guitar string, the band goes into panic mode to find a new drummer because it's surf music set night at the bar....

And I need to understand the concept of why a surf beat happened, and how important it is to the music of the time.

Before anyone gets techie on the music side: KIS For Stupid.... I have ZERO musical ability. I cannot parse out the beat in a song unless there is a loud bass sound banging it out for me. So, I found a drum-only training vid to explain it. Can it hear it Surf Songs now? Only in the drum solos and intros, because I know what to listen for. Add other instruments and vocals, and I'll lose it again.

OK, back to wording words... Gotta figure out who killed the drummer...

Good Morning All. Clear and 69° here on the first day of June. Temperatures are slowly inching upward, although not really as warm as a normal year, yet!

So the onion harvest has partially begun here on the SFW estate. First run-through pictured here.

The yellow ones mature a few days ahead of the purple or white ones. They'll dry here for a week and a half or so, and then I will trim the tops and roots off for storage. Later today I will make the first picking of green beans. I may also have a few Cherry Tomatoes ready later on. There are a lot more onions that I just didn't get to yet.

Time today for the weekly grocery/beer trek, stopping by the Vitamin Shop and Home Depot is also on the list.. Dental Hygienist visit yesterday was just a normal stop, my usual tech was still out on maternity leave, and the one that I saw is about seven months along. There's something about that job...or maybe it's just the age of those gals.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I also got some stuff planted. I did finish the ground foam cover.

The brown area which is actually a fault in the plywood, is going to be a stagnant water feature. I plan for more trees in this area, along with weeds and maybe cattails. I planted more trees in back and along the side next to Red & Fred's.

Then I planted some saplings along the drainage ditch between the road and the RR ROW.

Some weeds are next for this space.

Troy - Nice progress.
Patrick - Tomato plants are looking good, as well as the green beans and cukes. Rabbits don't normally eat corn plants, but they occasionally make an exception. Two things that you can do to prevent rabbits without much expense. Rabbits are "sniffers", so you can dust corn plants with talcum powder which irritates their noses. Or you could spread blood meal, available at all gardening centers, around. Rabbits are vegetarians and the smell of the blood repels them. The blood meal also adds nitrogen to your soil.

Marilyn Monroe would have been 97 years old today.

Everyone have a wonderful day.

You might try this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surf_music

And listen to some of the example listed as well as try and grok what it says.

ETA: It seems a lot of surf music is in a twelve bar blues format. Read up and listen up to examples of this and eventually you'll be able to hear it. An example is "Wipe Out" by the Surfaris.

@santafewillie I see you have some radishes there.

I learned something new about a year ago I never knew, but came across this when researching diabetic friendly foods for my wife. She loves potatoes, but can't have them due being heavy in carbs.

I never knew you could cook, and eat radishes just like a potato. And get this... all the heat goes away when you boil them. They are quite good boiled, then tossed with some herbs and finished in an air fryer.

Edit... I now realize they're red onions in Willie's picture, lol. Oh, well... If anyone is watching carbs and would like a good pottato substitute, try boiling some radishes.

Good morning. It's cloudy and 84.
Happy first day of hurricane season.
The move has been completed. There's something to be said for having a portable home. The only casualty of the move was a cargo tray I had installed on the rear bumper to hold my trailer washing equipment. Somebody liberated the hitch pin from it, and I didn't notice. I saw the tray laying alongside the road when I came along behind the trailer, and remember thinking to myself, "self, that looks like the tray I have on my trailer. I sent the delivery guy back to retrieve it, and when he returned with it, it looked like a soggy waffle. So, I told him to find a dumpster for it...

Here's hoping the FedEx guys and gals can find you now.

Afternoon All,

Started out with a walk at 73F and currently hot and humid with rain later...maybe. I did several indoor chores this morning and after lunch son and I dug out 6 4x4 posts around the tree in question. We received a call from the city inspector with a final denial. This means all we can do is a trim. All I can say is if there is an issue with the tree from a storm, I'm getting a lawyer.

Hurricane season is fun times until 30 November. :(

Louis- Great 1940's photo.

Patrick- Nice looking garden.

Terry- If it was Chicago wouldn't that be bullets instead?

David- Nice photos.

Willie- Nice harvest and scenery work.

Jeff- Interesting food info. I did not know that.

Joe- The latest online Keystone Modeler has a fantastic article from a person that scratch built the 100 ft. TT (HO scale) that was at Shire Oaks yard (by Pittsburgh).

I hope everyone has a good night.
