Troy. I use a Lenovo 27 inch, 1440 monitor. I like it. It has an adjustable height stand, and a high refresh rate. You could "probably" get delivery by Wednesday.

According to Lenovo, you can get it directly from them by tomorrow:

Also, she works from home on a laptop, and a 22 in monitor. I've got a 27 in and she's envious. Her setup has docking station and the station has a second HDMI monitor port. I'm thinking a run to costco to see what kind of mega monitor I can get her.
Troy: Ya might check out WalMart for monitor/TV's. Unless you are doing really hi-res stuff a TV with SVGA or HDMI port will work just fine for you. I have dual monitor setup's on all our computers. Have been doing that for at least 15 years and don't know how I got by without them. I have found that something bigger than 32" is too big and most of the time won't fit on your desk. Another problem I have with 32" is that I can not see over the top of them while sitting at my desk to gaze out the window. Last pair I got were 27"; would do 1280x1170 and cost $120 each.

The grandkids figured a work-around. Screens we got them have multiple inputs so they would plug the XBox and PC in on one, PC on the other. Takes screen face time to a whole new level. Maybe that was not a good thing?

Good morning all, its a chilly 57 with some pretty clouds and a few birds here and there

Hard to believe a couple days ago it was 91 and we were sweltering

The high today only 66!

Guy Sorry to hear about the tooth ache, I was just at the dentist last week hope you didn't catch it from me

Alan - wow about the cancer, great the fight was successful!

Todd - great scenery there!

I worked a lot on the train yesterday, we had rain in the morning. I split wood in the afternoon, also goofed off

I got the ballast done and tracks hooked up this last section, maybe run a train on the inside loop this afternoon???

Troy - I like the black kitty. We had one, was very friendly, although a bit territorial. Would not let the other cats near us when she was around.

Here is a couple of birds saying hi

One of our rose breasted grossbeak and one of many finches.

Jeff - so you are a chainsaw guy, too!

hope to be back later, Dave LASM

I replied to my own thread - OMG. I should add - before you look into a dual monitor setup, find out what your video card will output. If you have a DVI connector, you will need some sort of splitter where one cable goes to each monitor. Some video cards already have dual outputs; either 2 SVGA/DVI or 1 DVI and 1 SVGA. I now have a couple of HDMI video cards with 4 outputs - hmmm, I could have a wall of monitors. Might work for when I am coding/debugging as I usually end up wanting to see more stuff than what is on the dual setup. Never ending battle?

ALAN - Sounds as if you have had a bundle! Good luck on the Chemo - like it took over a year to get out of my system. Very sorry to hear of your trials!

Morning from the West where it is hot and dry! 96f forecast for today (where it has been for a week now), and triple digits next week they say.

MEL - How is that bacon coming along? I would like a good BLT with avocado this morning - fries on the side with a "real" coke!

Good morning modelers, monitor suggestors and dog or cat lovers! Tom in Wisconsin on the south deck at 64f degrees with not a cloud in the sky. We might hit 73 but right now it just feels nice and fresh. I have been informed we are taking Terry’s speedster to the Spring Green (home of FLW’s Taliesin) juried art and craft show and that is fine. I explained we will just be browsing and she said what do you mean, told her no room to buy anything and bring it home.

Slept ok last night. I have been getting that slight feeling of anxiety back and honestly have no clue why. I have been telling Terry to silence the TV by using her Bluetooth connection to her hearing aides for sound. I don’t want to hear the news from network “sources.“ She thinks I am responding again to the politics of the moment. I hope not but after lapsing practicing my coping mechanicisms I am returning as of yesterday to practicing them.

I remember when we went to multi monitors on the desks at work in my department (client services). After a couple days it was how did we get anything done without them. Now I just use a ipadpro and it is fine. Occasionally I do yearn for a PC setup to maybe use JMRI or some graphics programs but I survive without. The daughter has 3 monitors on her desk in her office, she runs a non-profit. The SIL has multiples on his desk for his consulting business. I don’t miss any of that stuff.

Willie, safe travels!

Terry just popped her head out and said you are right, we can take the SUV. So now it becomes a buying trip!

I started yesterday looking at day (90 minutes away) and overnight trips (more then a 90 minute drive) for July since the weather forecast is favorable so far for July. Drew the 3 hour maximum drive time circle. There is a lot available within that range. I think the Hebert Hoover Presidential Library in West Branch, Iowa will be the first stop. Then to the Amana Colonies nearby. Overnight and then return via Dubuque, Iowa that is a Mississippi River town with lots of trains along the riverfront and a historic river town. Then the 90 minute trip home from there or the hour trip over to Galena, Illinois and then the 90 minute trip home from there via some glorious driving scenery in the Midwest. Chicago is firmly within the circle but I grew up there and Terry and I have visited there so many times there is not much new I want to see enough to fight the expressway traffic. St. Paul/Minneapolis falls just outside the 3 hour drive limit but there are exceptions to every rule! We both enjoy the Twin Cities very much. DesMoines, Iowa is just within the edge of the circle but it doesn’t hold much of interest to us. Once you’ve been there… All trips of course are scheduled around upcoming radiation treatments and then recovery. That is why the 90 minute drive times are so important to us. If we are doing something after my treatments in the past I have gotten better faster!

Enjoy your day

Good Morning All!
60F and clear in Libby. Supposed to get to 90F later - yuck

Got most of the outside stuff done this time home. Just need to mow the tall grass next to the house. In the following pix, that fence is 4ft tall to the upper rail. On top of that we grow rocks here so will have to get the kids to walk in front of the mower checking for those big ones that come up.

This is the side that needs mowing.

Good Afternoon All. Hazy and 91°. Cool front should hit shortly after 3:00pm and the high tomorrow will only be 87°. It won't last more than two days, but it will be nice.
We made it safely home already. Left the hotel parking lot at 0640, arrived home at 1120. Two pit stops along the way for a total of 25 minutes, meaning 4h 15m to cover the 416 miles. We didn't have to use the toll bypass around Austin, thus saving $12.xx in tolls. Smooth sailing all the way, not much traffic. Since arriving home, we have emptied the car, started a load of laundry, moved 11 potted plants, mostly herbs, back out onto the porch and watered them; and ate lunch which we ordered to go from Schlotzky's where we stopped for the second pit stop, bathroom and food. First stop in Belton was for gas, bathroom and snacks, where gas was $4.35/gal. It's time for me to take a nap before venturing out to the garden where I am sure there are at least a bushel of tomatoes. Then check pool chemical balance and head for the train shed. Busy day ahead, but first that nap.

Good afternoon. 88° and sunny.

This morning, I used a cleaning product to take the mildew off the aluminum siding of the family room. Had to use a brush with a handle to get some of the tougher stains off. It's the South Wall, but covered by tree shade most of the summer. The other South facing walls get more sun and don't have this problem. Worked very well.have used
this stuff before (sold at Lowe's), and it doesn't kill off the flowers and shrubs.

That little bit of effort, really tired me. Could be a matter of hydration, as I don't show any symptoms, of any kind. I really need to drink more water, and less coffee..

Willie: Glad you're home safely.

Catch ya all later.

Wife is using a company provided windows machine (forget the brand... HP?) with a docking station. They're a global corporation with a large IT dept, so it's the business side of the IT, not a personal computer.

The docking station has two HDMI video ports (the only vid ports), and others in her work group are running dual monitors.

Her job is one where she routinely has 3-5 documents open, and one on the 13" laptop screen drives her batty. Lots of numbers, spreadsheets, databases, and other documents she's trying to wrestle into shape for scientific medical lab proceedures.

A second large monitor makes sense.

And we were just out shopping... she had to run into Kohls (clothing store) for just a couple things.... I sat in the car
and sat
and sat
and went in to pee
went back out and sat
and sat

she came out an hour after going in... ran into her cousin inside. They had a gab-fest grumping about relatives.

I'm now going to nap. That was an exhausting trip.
