Good Morning!; and it looks like a fine Friday modelling morning! - 45F in the morning cool, and I can't see a cloud in the sky.

TLOC and Curt - I'm the type that requires absolute order at my work-space, even at my jobs. If I'm looking for a tool hiding under a napkin, I'll start getting heated and cussing. I'm afraid I have a short fuse when I can't get on with the job due to a misplaced tool. I like the hobby desk clean and orderly.

As some have kindly mentioned, the profile picture is indeed a Hawker Hurricane. I have lots of aircraft models, which I can build for a time, but then seem to get bored with them.
I was about to start building this Hurricane kit in December 2020, just prior to when the when the train hobby bit me and took over:

Tamiya paints and plastic plane models, do we get any sneak views….
Jaz Avalley - I still have a number of built aircraft models stored in a cupboard. I'll try and take a few photos for posting later. They're no train, but, it's still modelling.

While I was downtown yesterday, I noticed a different ballast hopper in group. Thought it might be of interest to some in the shop. This car is at least 50 years old:

Well, I best get on with walking the dog so I can begin a modelling weekend.
Thanks for the likes on these simple posts.
Have a great day!

Guy, awesome pictures and very helpful to me.

I truly understand your hobby bench philosophy. I like a cleared bench when I start and I have gotten much better this year in keeping clean or at least down to one project at a time. It helped that when I re-organized the space. I created a place to store projects for either drying time or boredom.

Good morning fellow modelers. Flo, just a cup of coffee PATY. Went to the Mayor’s Breakfast this morning, which is the kickoff event for Dairyfest weekend here in Marshfield. Gotta love having cheese curds, cranberries & ice cream with breakfast. SWMBO dropped me off on her way to work at the asylum aka Walmart, so I got in my mile & a half walk home after breakfast.
I see many of the cafe crew has already(or plans to) seen Maverick in the theatre. I’m not comfortable seeing movies in the theater quite yet, so we will likely wait for its release on Blu-Ray/digital download.

Went back to the bed and slept an hour after two cups of decaf Peet's coffee and one spilled all over the cabinet top!

I will have to check out the railcam at Colton, Terry? Thanks....

D & J .. I refuse to pay for box office theater movies. I'm with LASM on that front.
I'll wait until it comes out on free - TV and then watch it.
Fact is - while I am on my soapbox - I find most sequels are not nearly as good as the original version, YMMV!

ToMo .. did not mean to ignore you up there in the North Country!
YES, the Spousal Unit will receive 25% of any and all of the estate and she will also receive 1/12 of a trust set up from her Uncle (currently 9-10 mil) after the passing of her last living Aunt - whom I think is 98 this year. We would be pressed to purchase that place way too close to empty pockets. I am ready to live with some cash in the bank rather than more bills. I basic have lived paycheck to paycheck after making and losing a sizeable fortune as I was not a good manager. Too many expensive wifes, airplanes, kids, college for kids, autos for kids, horses for everyone - with boarding, and a 36 foot sailboat. My mom tried to get me to put away 10-15% for a "rainy day" for retirement, but would I listen - NOPE!
I have a cousin lives in Lake Charles who tried to get me to purchase land and oil leases down there. (he at one time was a lease manager for the H.L.Hunt brothers). He is now worth several mil - It was all right in front of me, but I think that I had more fun!
As my father used to say: I have not seen a U-Haul following a hearse yet?

I've been to the movies a few times in the last 6 months -- most recently saw the Dr Strange movie last weekend. Haven't seen Maverick. Will probably wait for it to stream or be on disk. I just have a dislike for Tom Cruise and don't want to spend money that flows to him, so any spending needs to be minimized... Plus, I am not sure a geriatric fighter pilot is all that interesting.

Good morning all!
58F in Libby
89F in Olive Branch with severe clear
Good - I see that the Earth is still spinning this morn..
Willie: 10 pounds max lift? How does one pee?
Tools and equipment that hide on bench..or where ever ... Is this why I have multiple tools and such? I always wondered.
Wife told me to add the following.
If you are out chasing trains, or gathering modeling info and you forgot your picnic basket. Head for one of the big 5 truck stops and gather stuff for sandwiches:
4 hard boiled eggs in a cup
2 mayonnaise packets
2 relish packets
Salt packet
Pepper packet
Bread - either 4 hot dog buns, or loaf as the loaf is usually cheaper than the 4 buns!
Cut eggs into small chunks, mix in all the other except for the bread.
Makes 4 sammies quick at about $7 or $1.75 each. Note that 4 eqqs seem like overkill but they are not hi-rise and go down really good. We usually get these makings and put in truck refer when we are stuck somewhere and are hungry. This morning I went to make some and found that we had only gotten 1 mayonnaise. Well cpap, found an Arby's horsey sauce packet and used that. It was good!
Then again, if you are new to truck stops, you will find a ton of stuff to eat. We get tired of same.same and do other strange things once in awhile.
Headed back to Aurora later this afternoon.

Its been bugging me that I did not post a photo this morning...

Here we have a few guys looking at something inside the hopper, I wonder what is in there?

Still only 57° here, weather guesser has us reaching 66?

Tom - Guy - I have to have the clean space as well. Drives me nuts when things get too cluttered.

Todd - interesting recipe.

Willie - sounds like you are recovering fast. So thats 2 weeks not lifting over 10 lbs? Wow

LOOKING forward to a weekend of fun. Will be splitting firewood first thing Sat am, then on to the train room. Last weekend I completed the car port (1:1) project I started just before winter. The only other big thing will be paving or cement work, which I can put off until mid july or August. FIRST weekend when I do not have to work on house projects!!!!

later, Dave LASM

Afternoon all,

In the office late due to having to get shot at. They are having Active Shooter training after City Hall closes at 1:00p and we are expected to participate, so I had to shift my hours accordingly. At least they fed us lunch...

Spent the morning catching up on things around the house I can't do this afternoon because I'm here. Ok, catching the 3rd episode of Obi-Wan and the first episode of the 3rd season of The Boys isn't really working, but stuff the wife doesn't want to watch or hear. Still have to get to the lawn when I get home as the weekend is already gone. Youngest granddaughter's birthday is today, so the party is at her parent's house 70 miles away tomorrow. So tomorrow is gone. Then church on Sunday (instead of Saturday night), and finishing up laundry and grocery shopping takes a good chunk of Sunday, along with the temperature being higher with a chance of more rain.

No pool this year as there isn't the demand. Maybe I can finally get rid of it...Really need a better one if we need one.

Willie: Glad to hear you getting better.

ctclibby: Nice basic egg sandwich recipe. Since the Arby's horsey sauce is more mayo than horseradish, I'll bet it worked very well.

Smudge - I was a good patient until it got after the originally planned release time and then I got quite irritable. So much so that it probably kept the BP high for longer than normal which further delayed my release. I needed to have relaxed more.
Yes, unfortunately we invariably spend more time waiting to be released than the expected time, but there are so many things that can delay the process, Dr's busy dealing with more more urgent cases or admissions for one, it doesn't help when no information is forthcoming as to why the delay. I was supposed to be released at 9am, finally got out at 4pm, not much you can do really, as you said, getting irritable doesn't help.

Finally got time to do some train "stuff", got this Athearn GP9 some time ago as a non runner, I've been trying off and on to get it running, but to no avail. Till today, taken me most of the day but I got it running, and decided to upgrade the lighting, which all went well.
Problem I then had was after I changed the long address CV, it wouldn't run on that address, but would still run on default, messed around with the CV's a bit, (changed CV29 to accept long addresses) but when I wrote to the decoder, the motor just buzzed, now it wont run on either the long or short address, and it wont read or write to the decoder, so although it's fixed, (in the fact I know it runs) it's not. ☹️ Oh well tomorrow is another day.
