I too would have to agree with Sherrell, SD-40-2. Just something about the look of them. I like the GG1, again there is something about the way it looks that draws you in. But my all-time favorite has to be RS-3. Regardless of livery, it was just a beautiful locomotive.

Each state has their own laws. IIRC Utah allows licensed concealed cary in schools and state sponsored univeristies/colleges but otherwise those are "gun free". Stores can post it and if you get caught can ask you to leave and it is otherwise trespass. I believe that is the same for churches. (There is a specific part of the law governing churches and I forget the details but they have to post or otherwise make it known).

Places that are under federal law (airports etc) are off limits.

Afternoon all,

Was a busy day. Got up at my normal 3:30a and helped the wife as usual. Took the trash to the curb and got the bulk of the laundry at least washed. Then went out to mow the front yard at 6:30a hoping to not disturb the neighbors too badly. One was outside already working on her landscaping and the other was setting up for a garage sale @7:00a. 78° and really muggy. Felt like 90°. Even had to actually use the drive feature on the mower as pushing it was harder than normal. Took a shower after and then went north to see mom as it had been a while since I visited her. We had a nice lunch, and I just got home a bit ago. Waiting at McDonald's in the town the wife. works in to get on the road quicker to see the not local granddaughter play softball. Had the SIL bring me in to wait.

As far as engine noises for cars, I mentioned to the oldest daughter once that I'd have the sound of a small boy pretending the noise. You know how we did before we had real cars. 🤣

2023 is the last year for the Camaro,(thank God) and the Vette is going Hybrid soon and all electric eventually. Pretty soon the loudest thing we will be driving will be our lawn mowers.

Evening All,

Late to the party today. Went to VA and got the sutures removes this afternoon. Earlier today I peeled up the grass/weed clusters from the wax paper. Then I cleaned up and put the dining room table back together after doing the static grass. The wife was happy. Speaking of the wife today is our 44th wedding anniversary. No celebration tonight since we're going to Key West next week.

My favorite diesel: RS1, favorite electric: P5a (box cab), favorite steamer: N&W Y6b.

Guy- That's what the government does: raise taxes and waste money. Nice job on the truck.

Troy- That's a good idea.

Willie- Nice scene.

TomO and Gary- I'm glad you guys are feeling better.

I hope everyone has a good night.

I can handle the 2 weeks of missing work…

Its the lack of concentration and boredom that’s getting to me. Maybe with Terry home now and some adult communication things will get better.

How is the job search?

Where I work now, when I first started, one of the things included in the employee handbook was telling me weapons were not allowed.
I forget exactly how the conversation evolved, but basically my supervisor said, "If you carry and have to use it, at least you'll be alive to get fired".

The fish were solid but I wished the conditions were better. With the lake drawn down 15 below normal ugh that changes things. I was hoping to find a double digit one oh well maybe next time!

I have a phone interview with SHP on Monday. I also have a few other applications in around town.
 
It's Troy again:

I kept looking up and wishing I had my canopy up... but that darn broken Trim Board kept worrying me. The wood behind it was rotting from past water damage. No wonder it snapped off in 98mph winds.

then I realized the side wouldn't be as bad.

Had to make a new extension cable, but I got it up, and the screws should have sunk into the structural wood behind the trim board. Sounds more solid than what is under the broken trim board. You can spy the broken piece at the corner, on the sunny side.

So I now have my patio shady again. I'm sitting out here, trying a new-to-me Canadian blended whisky.

It's actually quite good. And smooth. My go-to whiskey is Monkey Shoulder Scotch. This is about $5/bottle cheaper, and I got it on special for $20/bottle. I'll have to go back and snag another if the price is still good on it.
 
Quite lively discussions today in the Coffee Shop. However I cannot participate in most.
Even though I can now afford nearly any muscle car, they no longer interest me. However seeing and reading about James' car was interesting.
I haven't had Covid so I cannot discuss that, but I wish everyone who has it a speedy recovery.
I will not get into any of the current political or economic discussions but I have some controversial opinions regarding both. That includes all figures either mentioned or alluded to today. Interesting discussions though.
There is no such thing as sidewalks in my neighborhood.
I don't carry a handgun, although I have some very strong opinions regarding Second Amendment rights.

So I am just tending the garden, lounging in the pool, dreaming about Dottie on her air mattress and enjoying my beer. The SD40-2 is my all time favorite loco with those magnificent front and rear porches.

Nerd alert:

For those wondering about this, who of course recognize this as the key of D (major). B minor is the relative minor of D (major). Someone posted this a while ago on a bass guitar group I am on and I had to think about it for a few minutes :)

ETA: the vandal was also not very good as he made the B sharp instead of the C in the D (major) key signature. D is a C# and F#
