Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and a rather cool 69° here this morning. Mother Nature defied all forecasters yesterday, our high was 10° below the forecast of 93°. Today is forecast to be 89°, then touching or exceeding triple digits tomorrow through Sunday. It sure looked like it might rain yesterday, a massive system was barrelling this way from Colorado, but basically stopped right at the TX/OK border just 25 miles away and moved east.
Got the lab results from Tuesday's blood draw. Almost all were well within limits except red blood cell count was a bit low. That means I need to eat more red meat. Could it be that I have had so much blood drawn in the last week??? A1c stayed the same at 5.6 so doc is happy, so am I. A year ago it was 7.0.
Being as it was such a cool day yesterday, I mowed a lot. Made three 45 minute sessions instead of two. I also cut down a tree that had died unexpectedly. It was a 20 year old Maple tree that was about 30' tall. Lots of unexpected firewood after I get around to cutting it up. Garden is doing well, but the tomatoes just aren't turning red yet.
Today is the weekly grocery/beer trek to Denton. Got to do an Amazon return for the wife that she forgot to do before she left. Easy enough but it is an extra stop. Just hand the UPS guy the package and let him scan the QR code on the phone. Amazon really makes it easy. Actually OK though as I have to stop by the Vitamin Shop next door.
Thanks to all who commented or liked yesterday's post.
I didn't do much out in the train shed yesterday. I applied primer to some of the stuff that I received Tuesday. No pictures of that mundane process.
Nothing stands out from the archives to post this morning except this whimsical scene with a couple of "good ole boys" trying to capture and butcher a goose.
Guy - I took the Longhorn pictures from the car and didn't realize the fence post was in the way; kinda like a utility pole growing out of an engine.

There were other cars coming from both directions, so I just snapped and moved on. Longhorns are really quite docile, I actually could have walked right up to that fence. My main intent was to get the pictures for reference for painting.
Note in that picture, this fellow down the road uses his weed-wacker along 1000' of barbed wire fencing along the roadside. He also mows this and the pasture behind it with his riding mower. Those round hay bales are there to fool the tax assessor into thinking that he deserves an agricultural exemption on his property taxes. He grows that hay on a different field.
Joe - I know that you are on the road or in the medical facility right now, but I 100% agree with your commentary yesterday.
Todd - Mel's Diner is a fictional place from the long running TV show called Alice from the 70's-80's. Here's a Wikipedia link.

James - Enjoy your time here in Texas. It will be hot though. Lake Fork has the biggest bass in TX. Have a safe trip.
Jaz - I only grow the soft skin summer squash like Yellow Straightneck and Zucchini. The hard shell winter varieties like Acorn or Butternut do not produce reliably here.
Today is Donald Duck Day. And in keeping with the gossip news, it's Johnny Depp's birthday. But of more significance to me, today would have been guitarist Les Paul's 107th birthday. He passed away in 2009, aged 94.
Everyone have a great and safe day.
