Good morning all. We are having a heatwave. Global warming and all that.
No mention of Global Warming in 1976 and earlier when it was hotter than now. We just enjoyed the weather then.
Flo. It must be coffee time.

Oldest grandson was rushed to hospital. Sirens going and all that. He was coughing blood. A lot by all accounts.
Not a lot of sleep was had by anyone in the family. Doctors (and nurses) are monitoring the situation.

Taking Dawn to the dentist this afternoon.

Younger granddaughter has gone out for the day with her Nanna. She will be back this afternoon.

The River Aire flows under Leeds City Station. Over the years as the station has been rebuilt the flow of the river has been altered. It now has a right hand bend underneath.

That was a frightening experience for the young man, I know firsthand. For me it was viral pneumonia. Have they any idea what is happening with him? Our prayers are with you.

I love the photos.

Good morning from a nicely needed wet Wisconsin. The sun the past few days has baked the moisture out of the ground so the rains we are getting will be helpful.

Tsunamis: I did not talk to my brother who resides on Maui in Hawaii but the daughter did. He is on the west coast in Makena. They got the warnings and he told her if those sirens had been used in the Lahaina fires everyone would have known to clear out! They were expecting a small rise in waves but nothing for his side of the island to worry about.

I am heading to a build session for a layout 45 miles north. I’ll be home in time for the grandson’s races to start at 2.

Terry talked to the passport people in Chicago. They acknowledged they have it, confirmed some details BUT we may end up driving over to Chicago to pick it up as the predicted time line and the use of the USPS through the Chicago Center bothers us. She was told to contact them by phone on 8/4 and together a decision can be made. Let’s see State Department, Lombard Hobby, Des Plaines Hobby, Zeintek Model Trains and Pizzera Uno on Ohio. Add in a stop at the Illinois RR Museum in Union, Il. this sounds like an overnight or 2 adventure next week.

Good Morning All. Clear and 74°, maybe getting to 102° later today. That's what was forecast for yesterday, but it only hit 99°. The semi-permanent heat warning continues until at least Labor Day. We just don't get that worked up about heat advisories since we have them for 2 months straight every summer. Of course, no rain for the next 45 days. Last rain was on June 13. Local trees are beginning to shed some leaves.

Yesterday I mowed the last remaining part of the yard that hasn't been mowed recently, the NW corner, about 1/2 acre. Surprisingly, my pond in that area still has about a foot of water left in it, but that will be gone in another week. Today's outdoor tasks only include Tomato picking and some weedeating on the north side of the house.

Another routine day out in the train shed yesterday. I got out the shop-vac and did a major floor clean-up. A lot of grass clippings, leaves and dirt gets tracked in out there. There's also a fair share of dead crickets and dirt daubers that get in and can't figure out how to get out. I also ran a few trains. I brought a structure (from the Walther's Interstate Fuel & Oil kit) over to the workbench to do some detailing but haven't started yet.

Chad - I moved from my old train room to my new train shed 14 years ago, and I am still finding stuff that got lost in boxes!
David - I hope that there is nothing too seriously wrong with your grandson. Keep us posted.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is 78 today. That's a little older than I thought he was.
Everybody have a wonderful Wednesday.

Good morning,

It is a cool and dry 63, headed for 79. Lovin it!

I did make it to Hardee’s by 1030 so got my fix of biscuits and gravy yesterday, did not disappoint in flavor, service, and cleanliness. Hinckley. MN.

probably help the missus stage the landscape rock/Boulder this morning, lots of time for the train shed today.

Later, Dave LASM

Good morning all!

A wet stormy Northern Illinois day today. A couple of thunderstorms have moved through the area early this morning. Looking at the radar
another big batch of rain is about 45 minutes away. Looks like we can see rain off and on all thru the day. We defiantly need it. Currently
temps are at 76F humid degrees and the high is only supposed to hit 78F.

Today is laundry, and vacuuming day. Have a few other chores to get done as well.

Got a bunch done in the train room yesterday and last night. I will try and get some photos up on the build thread later today.

Have a safe day everyone!

Good late afternoon all. Thank you gentlemen for the kind thoughts and prayers for our grandson. It was quite scary last night as he was transferred to another (specialist) hospital that has better equipment for him.

The doctors were not sure if immediate surgery or not. Fortunately not. Now our grandson is undergoing tests to find the cause and loss of blood. Plenty of photographs being taken of inside his body. I hope they are not using a Kodak box camera.
