I have not yet gotten my roller shades up in the office but with this morning being overcast heavily and no direct sun into the office, it was a few degrees cooler this morning and still is, despite being hot outside. I just need to get them up. So much to do, so little time (and motivation)
 
Good afternoon. We are back from watching The Fantastic 4 at the movie theater. It was a bit corny but it was entertaining. Thankfully for me, YMMV, there were no other Marvel Universe super hero’s that showed up in this movie

We are waiting to hear if the heat will cancel the granddaughter’s ball game

We did not stop at Michael’s or the LHS after the movie today. I can do it returning from a layout work session tomorrow and before the grandson’s slot car tournament. I just finished reading the few rules for the races tomorrow. It’s a 3 lane track that has switchable lanes. There will be 5 cars for each heat with 2 cars moving on.

My son moved from the east side of Hokkaido to Sapporo but he was inland in Kitami before moving so was not in danger. I'm trying to find out about the wife's sisters who live in Kobe and Yokohama.

I guess that waves of 12-15 inches were observed in Hokkaido, but the warnings have not been lifted (as of the email we got) so there may be the risk of further Tsunamis.

The wife said her sisters are higher up in elevation than anything expected as possible.

Geoffrey Holder was his real name. I remember him best from the movie "Live and Let Die." He played Baron Samedi the voodoo guy, Mr. Big's (Dr. Kananga) henchman used to inspire fear in his followers and others.

I'm a huge James Bond fan and that movie is one of my favorites!

Like you Dave I can still hear his unique (spooky) voice. His laugh in that movie was creepy! Playing Baron Samedi made him famous!

Jane Seymour was a bonus!

You are being too hard on yourself. "Rome wasn't built in a day"

When we moved in 2017 my health had been steadily improving. Overworking myself set me back and induced medical fatigue that lasted over 18 months. I never fully recovered. Don't let that happen to you.

Those walks you are taking are a brilliant idea. They will help you be more productive by increasing your stamina. Results take time; pace yourself. Everything will be done at the proper time. Your health and wellbeing are most important.

Do your best and let God worry about the rest.

He was also great in the movie Annie. I remember seeing it in the theater as a kid.

He played Punjab "Daddy Warbucks bodyguard. Perfectly cast character!

I read that earlier today and was going to post it, but thought that some might not know who he was.

The Cubs Nation is really saddened by this news! Just as much as when Ron Santo passed.

He will surly get some kind of memorial (statue) at Wrigley Field.

How about those Milwaukee Brewers?! With a projected team payroll of $122 million they now possess the best record in MLB! The Brewers have spent $2 million less than the team with the worst record in MLB, the Colorado Rockies. Only eight other teams in MLB have spent less than the Brewers. That is money well spent!

The Dodgers are the biggest spenders; $394 million, followed by the Mets at $334 million. The Yankees at $292 million and the Phillies at $290 million. My Orioles rank 15th in MLB with a projected team salary of $164 million.

As guys are returning from the injured list my Orioles are playing better and better. After sweeping yesterday’s doubleheader they have now won the first three games of a four-game series against the AL East’s first place team, the Toronto Blue Jays. My Birds have now won five consecutive games. The Orioles’ chances of making the playoffs are slim to none. But I would tell slim not to pack his bags. As Yogi said “it aint over till it’s over”


Now I must go; I have two ball games to watch. Win or lose I watch every Orioles’ game, but it is even more fun when they win!

Ryne Sandberg was a legendary player. Even for me living in an American League city I knew of him. The same is true of Ron Santo, Billy Williams, Ernie Banks and others. Players like that transcend leagues. They were more than great players; they were all great people.

The Cubs organization teaches the fundamentals of baseball as good as any team ever has. I saw that firsthand when Rick Sutcliffe joined the Orioles in 1992. Rick was a good pitcher when the Cubs acquired him in 1984. But he became a true master of the craft of pitching after joining the Cubs. He often spoke of the things he learned in his time with the Cubs.
 
My phone started screaming at me about tsunami. I shut it off. Then the loud voice started going off outside. Turned the tv on and ok, its real. Called the wife since she was shopping to get her home. The shopping mall she goes to is pretty much at sea level. I live on top of a hill. She had time as the waves were not expected to hit us until 1130-ish, but I wanted her not to get stuck in the craziness.

I thought it kinda weird that the east coast of Japan was the red zone and not the west coast since that's the side facing Russia. It was explained that the wave force would hit an underwater ridge and bounce back at us.

I think she's still watching that stuff on tv. I'm watching trains go round and round.

Edit: I dont know my geography. Kamchatka is pretty much right above Japan, so west coast really no issue.

I was in Hawaii when the false ballistic missile warning was sent out. My phone started screaming then as well. I turned it off and continued to work outside. When my folks came home, we talked about it. I told them that since we can see Pearl Harbor from our house, we were at ground zero. I wouldn't have time to put my arse in the air and have my finger sticking up for the bas relief on the wall. I told them it would be much better to go in the flash than to linger with radiation poisoning. The folks that hid in the manholes were going to linger and die a slow death.

The people that were working on the bases were evacuating, which just led to them hanging out, stuck on the roads. If I was still on the base, I'd just hang out outside with my bas relief silhouette ready to go.

If we did survive the blast, I wouldn't be able to seal the house since it is all jalousy windows. Not enough Saran wrap in the house to do anything.
 
Well, howdy there internet peeps and those waiting to become waterlogged.

Its Troy again.

today is lab draw day so no coffee for me. No Yogurt. No donut... just water.

Labs at 8am. I'll hit the donut shop before and have them waiting in the car for as soon as I'm done. This is also wellness check day. They take the BMI rating, BP, and do the basic workup. Out of 5 of the the criteria I have to hit, I normally get Cholesterol as good (I take statins), I'm a non-smoker, My A1C is at the upper end of good so that's one to watch, and my BP is usually just peachy. Speaking of, I should go take the BP pill before the draw.

After that it's cat to the vet time.

Then the wife takes her mother to the ophthalmology doc for eye injections.

Then I have to pick up the cat from the vet. They said they need a urine sample. So Mr. Fuzz won't be able to come home until he piddles for them.
