Good Morning All. Clear and 74°, a bit mild for this time of morning in July. Still haven't hit the magical triple digits yet, but the NWS is forecasting it for the next three days. They've been wrong several times already this month. Then supposedly a cool front with highs in the low-90's for three days. We'll see!
No Internet for 2.5 days due to what we assume was a rodent that ate through a wire attached to the side of the house. Had to wait until Monday for a service call which came around 1:00. After replacing the line, he gave us a new updated/upgraded wifi router to replace the 6 year old one that originally was installed when fiber-optic came to the neighborhood. I think that we actually will get a bill for the router, nothing in life is free any more. Wifi still doesn't reach the train shed, reaches the steps but not inside; but I still haven't decided whether I want to have it out there.

No real change in the routine here, mowing still, gardening and the usual household tasks. I need to install a new ceiling fan in the guest bedroom for our granddaughter's extended stay next week. Old one works just fine except the chain for the light broke inside. That's an easy fix, but my wife wants to install a new one to replace the 44 year old one in there. Easy for her! I actually bought two new ones about 2 years ago and installed one in the other unused bedroom, but never installed this one since the old one still worked.

I have been out in the train shed, and even took some pictures. But I have to set up the camera for the new wifi settings and I don't have time right now. I need to be outside doing stuff while it is still cool...86°!

I won't waste too much time reviewing the last 10 pages of posts, but a few that I consider notable.
Haircuts at the place that I go to (not often) are $17 for seniors plus my usual $5 tip.
Marlin - Belated Happy Anniversary.
Terry - Air fryers are great. My wife made cornbread in ours Saturday evening. Ours has 8 different modes.
boogietrain - Every trip that I make out to the train shed strays from my original objective.
Louis - Thanks for the update on Joe.
Steve - Despite being a discounter, any stop that I make at Discount Model Trains is expensive!

OK, I am caught up with the last 11 pages that I missed. I realize that I could have used the phone, but I have never gotten used to that little screen and small keyboard.

Everybody have a terrific Tuesday.

i think i read somewhere they will stay Union Pacific. But i dont know.
Iam happy that i have two NS Engines :) i like there paint scheme and the mustang in the front.
but lets see what will happen.
Since I model present day UP, this now will give me an excuse to maybe add a couple of NS locomotives.

I like the horsehead paint scheme as well!

Wonder how this will all shake out?

She claims health benefits, but doesn't go into science behind it.
So do many others on "old people TV" (MeTV, Grit etc.) We are exposed to too much junk science.
Me, I'll stick to my 3 or 4 cups a day.
I don't bother to keep track of how much coffee I drink, a lot!

Thanks for letting us know!
I knew you and others were worried as I was.

What are they gonna call this company.
It has me wondering what CSX will do in response.

Good morning all,

72 and sunny, light breeze. Already did my bird watch and ran 3 trains. Put 3 drops in the smokestack and voila! A real steam locomotive. Had both the steady stream and a couple puffs.

It is my brand new Bachmann 0-6-0, with Northern Pacific lettering and the short haul tender. Nice little loco.

Computers: I bought a new HP laptop a couple years ago 2021, with windows 10. We had windows 11 at work and I had issues with neither.

As long as it works I am fine. Spare me the details, my mind says. Almost had a heart attack with McAfee, those crooks, it took over at one time and tried locking me out if I did not pay their ransom. Luckily someone clued me in on how to disable, and life is good. Microsoft provides free security.

Thinkin about Hardee’s for biscuits and gravy, maybe tomorrow.

First transcontinental railway? NP and Rock Island almost pulled it off in merger talks pre 1960.

Gonna be hot and muggy today.

Later, Dave LASM

So it’s gray overcast today first day in a while. 79F on the N outside sensor. Seems to be a breeze. I saw the tall weeds in the back moving.

I missed my walk yesterday. By the time I got going it was too hot and too late in the morning. I was going to go last light but so family things got in the way of me leaving when I wanted to go and by the time we were done it was late and I just went to bed , so that could try and get up decently early. Trying to shift to getting up earlier and going to bed earlier.

So I’ll head out on my walk shortly. After the morning routine is done. Then shower and breakfast after the walk.

It's hot and humid outside!

We only worked one block for Amazon, too hot for me!

We then went to the grocery store, and I bought a half ham that I thought was $19 and change. It's beautiful and big! When it rang up, I got almost $9 off. It turns out it was marked down. I was wondering what was printed on that tiny red/pink or whatever sticker. That is what happens when I shop without my reading glasses. I all but gave up on prices. I buy whatever I want, and I wanted that big, beautiful ham! It will take me the best part of the week to eat it, but I love ham! Ham sandwiches, cubed ham in salad and best of all, fried ham and eggs! Ham is the ultimate leftover food. Even better than leftover hotdogs! My pretty little Angel already has it smoking on the Weber grill, Pit Style ham for dinner!

After we got home, I changed the oil in the Equinox. Which reminds me of haircuts. How might you be wondering? I cut my own hair for the same reason I change my own oil; to save time. I can do either one in less than twenty minutes. No traveling, no waiting, no bullshit! I don't even leave the house to get the oil and filter. I have them delivered to the door.

I finished watching last night's Orioles' game, and I watched the Rundown Recap, I love MLB.TV.

Now I'm going to spend some time with my little Angel, life is good, thank God!

Have an enjoyable day Everybody!

In the 30 min it took me to finish routine so I can now go on my walk the temp is up 4 degrees F and 1/3 of the sky has cleared up from solid overcast…. Better go before it gets hotter. Now 83F.

I get the wife to cut my hair. Saves money for her to spend at the hair place. Only problem is both our clipper sets got misplaced in the move.

I do my own oil changes and haircuts as well, faster, easier, cheaper

I vary the haircuts, seems I have been making them shorter and shorter...

Funny that, since I have no bald spots and notice some bit of pride in still having hair at age 67, I would almost think I would want to show it off

Albeit mostly gray.

My wife likes to touch up my hair cut, I humor her although it secretly bugs me, she would take off a couple strays here an there, you practically need a magnifying glass,

Keeps the peace if I hold my tongue
