Good Morning All. Clear and 73°. All of a sudden the forecast changed sometime between 0400 and 0600 and they are now predicting 100° for today.

Ho-hum day yesterday, grocery trek went OK with no outages or noticeable price changes; dropped $100 at Home Depot for enough chlorine and acid to last until mid-September if we keep the pool open that long and made what seems to be the weekly stop at the pharmacy. I did do some weedeating in early afternoon and picked more Yellow Squash from my bumper crop.
Today starts with the dishwasher and probably includes a load of laundry. I have the push mower in place to cut some of those spots that I can't get the tractor into. How much I get depends on the heat and how I feel after doing some of it.

I am feeling left out, since I have never gotten one of those traffic fines texts or E-Mails!

While I did make it out to the train shed yesterday, I didn't do much. I did get out the list of freight cars still known to have McHenry couplers on them and changed out four pair. It took a while to locate them. Looking for a brown ATSF covered grain hopper isn't easy when I have over 100 of them. I have called it done on the quarterly layout cleaning project after brushing off another 2 dozen vehicles. Today's plan is to run some trains and remove the cobwebs from engines.

Louis - Thanks for the reminder about Joe and his surgery yesterday. My best wishes are with him.
Hughie - I am used to my operating sessions being halted in the middle and having to pick up the next day.

Everyone have a fabulous Friday.

Do any of you remember back in the day when you would exchange a model railroad “PASS” with other modelers?

Picture of one of mine that I made up years ago. Same railroad name I use today 🤣. Top picture- front, bottom the back.

It was fun to see what others came up with for their railroad pass. Some pretty elaborate.

Good morning. 78°F/76°F here this morning with storms expected again. This front has been stalled for a week now. It is supposed to move north during the weekend and bring temos to the upper 90°s by Sunday and all next week.

Going to attempt grass cutting after this post. It's going to be wet, and it's going to clump, and the mulching mower is going to choke on it, but I gotta get it cut. Only one neighbor has cut theirs in over a week.

Guitar finally arrived at 1836 last night. 2-1/2 hours past the delivery window, but they don't give a crap. Beautiful California Burst finish that sounds as good as it looks. Setup was OK out of the box, but I need to check it again now that its acclimated to the house temp and humidity level. It bounced around in a 100°F truck for over 12 hours yesterday.

Hello folks, 87 here heading for 98 today. Survived the first day of VBS last night with a fun night with the kids. Sadly watching the news that 3 LA County Deputies have been killed in an explosion at one of their stations with more injured. May God bless and keep them.

I'm not sure what is going on with the Rays. They were in talks for St Pete to build them a new stadium, then Milton damaged their field. Suddenly, they don't want a new field, or the old one fixed. It may all be part of a negotiating tactic, or they may be trying to find an excuse to leave. We'll see. In the meantime, they're playing at the Yankee's Spring Training field.
I couldn't tell you what is up with their new stadium. I try to avoid the business side of sports.

As you said, for now, the Rays are playing in George Steinbrenner Field, formerly Legends Park. It is a replica of Yankee Stadium, at least the dimensions of the field are. A happy place for left-handed power hitters. Being a minor league stadium, it only seats a little over 10,000. Despite that the Rays are averaging over 9,800/game! Which is a little better than the Athletics (9700+) who are playing in a minor league stadium in Sacramento until their new stadium in Las Vegas is ready.

I read in the Baltimore Sun that MLB has said if the Rays make the post season (and they could) they will play in George Steinbrenner Field.

You got to admire the Rays. They spend so little, yet they play so well year after year.

Todays also the 38th anniversary.
Happy Anniversary to you and your wife.

I'm always amazed at how long the ladies will put up with us.
🤫 Don't start no 💩 and there won't be none!

I haven't noticed any double headers in years. Are they still doing these or did they stop because they don't fit TV schedules?🤔
They no longer schedule them, but it does happen. They will play a doubleheader in the event of rain and the teams have no mutual days off to make up the game.

Seldom if ever will there be two games for the price of one. A true doubleheader with a free game does happen, but it is rare.

Now they play Split Day-Night Doubleheaders. One game early, say noon, usually the makeup game. Then clear the stadium for a let's say 6pm start of the second game.

It's only 80F at our outside sensor hooked to the heatpump controller, at 10:30am and "mostly cloudy" per the app. Looks "overcast" to me. My stand alone sensor outside (not connected to the heat pump controller) is not reading today for some reason so I don't have a humidity reading at my house but the apps say our area is around 32%-34% depending on app -- which probably use stations in different areas around here).

Normally it's high 80s or mid 90s by now. I'll take a little cooler.

I'm certainly glad it was overcast here while I was cutting a bit ago. I can't, and don't want to imagine what it would have been like cutting in full sun. But it's done...finally. God, I can't wait until Oktober.

I’m not an expert but I think the original Scout is considered the “original” SUV? Idk.

It’s looking good. That’s a lot of work for I to body work on older vehicles.

Thank you, I have been working on the body for 3 years. No hurry.

Google it. The suburban is the oldest and longest running nameplate in America.

I suppose it is academic when it could be classified as a suv since the phrase is arbitrary .

The Scout is nothing more than a glorified willys jeep, IMHO

95% of the sheet metal is solid. This is a 1988 model, which was used in military, commercial, and recreational arenas; built on one of the strongest light truck frames with one of the most dependable engines (350 v8) and transmissions ever built.

You can probably tell I like my truck.

Suburban project, here is what I have been talking about from time to time. This is my "Daily Driver", a 1988 4 x 4. The "original" SUV, I believe

Most of my shop works takes place in the shade. I added a couple patch pieces and rebuilt part of the fender. The inner fender is new after-market piece, added a couple years ago.

I don't think this truck will ever be finish painted, I am never quite satisfied with the quality of my body work. More coats of bondo and lots of sanding took place before the wheel went back on.

Brings back memories. One that sticks in my mind the most-changing a starter while laying in the snow
on what seemed to have been the coldest day of the year. No garage for many years to come.

Body work was not my favorite gearhead activity. One of those things that you got fairly decent at when
you were almost done with the project. Then you forgot what you learned by the time the next you had
to do it again.

Good evening all. Just a quick visit to the Diner.

Younger granddaughter is staying over.
She is going on a day trip with the Brownies, leaving early in the morning. Guess who is taking her to the meeting point? Another early wake-up.
