Good Morning All. Mostly clear and a warmish 75°; looking for 95° again today before a cooling pattern hits us this weekend. Might bring thunderstorms with it.
Yesterday's grocery trek went off without any issues, wife wanted Jersey Mike's so we stopped there to get a couple of subs to go. Pharmacy stop didn't go as well, as they had not gotten a response from one doctor regarding refills. A more important one was ready though. I had called them in on their automated system on Tuesday, so there was plenty of time. After we got home, I looked at the old bottles and realized that the prescribing doctor was not my regular cardiologist, but was the hospital resident from my recent stay there. I had to call my guy's office to ascertain that he still wanted me to take those medications and send the pharmacy a new prescription. I'll check this morning to make sure that things went as planned before making a trip to town. The rest of the day was spent catching up on household tasks that I was behind on due to the back to back medical days earlier in the week.
Today I hope to catch up on outdoor tasks that I seem to be behind on as well. Need to deal with some kind of algae in the pool that chlorine doesn't seem to control well. Fortunately the algaecide that I need was an item on sale on Amazon Prime Days this week, and it will be here today. About half the cost as the local pool supply store. Pool has unfortunately warmed up since I had to lower the shade umbrellas due to higher than average winds right now, lasting for another day.
Out in the train shed yesterday, I cleaned the first three structures that I removed from the layout Wednesday. Nothing critical to repair and I didn't add any details to any of them. All three were already pretty detailed to begin with. I did reattach a protruding sign that I dislodged during cleaning on the bank.
For
Dave who asked and others who might be interested, here are a few shots of the maintenance train as it travels the main through Charlottesville, with a unit Ethanol train in the background. It took more shots than I thought.
We start with the motive power, which today is an older SD45, followed by an equipment boxcar, a gondola with discarded stuff and then a flatcar with some random pieces of rail.
Following the flatcar is the sleeper/dining car and a boxcar labeled as "tool car".
Another flatcar with ties and stuff and a diesel fuel tanker.
Then I have the 250 ton crane and the crane tender caboose.
I know that it's not the most prototypical, as that crane would probably be a "burro crane" in a track maintenance train. All of these cars are Athearn blue box, except the tanker which came from Roundhouse and the second flatcar which is a Walther's model. Engine is a Scaletrains model.
Mike - I don''t use that hand-held shower head either, but all hell breaks loose when it's broken. Just once and it was actually because she turned the head partially.
Louis - I cannot believe that I was remiss in not mentioning Rainbow as one of Ronnie James Dio's bands during his career. He and Ritchie made a great pair.
Tom O - Directed at you only because you made the original post: I only put the seat down in the master bathroom, I leave it up in the main one. Of course, living in the country, I usually use trees!
Today is 7-11, free Slurpees nationwide if that appeals to you. Everyone have a fabulous Friday.
