Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and 73° going up to 97° later on. I saw 94° yesterday. Cooler weather returns for the weekend.

Nothing special about yesterday, I picked Yellow Squash and Tomatoes, pulled up some more Johnson grass and spread some more grass clipping mulch. Later, taking advantage of no wind, I irrigated. I did some other stuff that I don't remember. Had to take down the shade umbrellas over the pool around 9:00 due to the out-flowing winds from a nearby thunderstorm, which didn't reach me. Wind was quite severe and I think that one umbrella was damaged. It was dark by then so I will have to inspect it this morning.

The weekly grocery trek is this morning, I have a pretty long list already. Pharmacy is on the itinerary as usual. Wife is going for sure, since Kroger has their wine on sale for 35% off if you buy 6 bottles.

While I made it out to the train shed yesterday, not much was accomplished. I put the maintenance train on the upper level and set it to go on a continuous run for a few minutes to ensure that all cars were still running well. Whooops! There was a low-hanging coupler pin that caused a derailment at a grade crossing. Should have caught that when I replaced that coupler the other day. Parked the train on a passing siding and ran a few others, but no switching. I also resumed the structure clean up on the selected quadrant, but only removed three from the layout and moved them to the workbench.

Google street view? I don't think that they know our road exists!
Joe -

All the more reason to streamline government operations.
News - Interestingly enough, I find the most unbiased and reliable news on the Al Jazeera news site. They are out of Qatar.
Dave - I didn't know that anyone else ever knew about the "Obscured by the Clouds" album. It was an early favorite of mine and I have some of those tracks on my Ipod player in the train shed with 6000 tracks on random play.
Todd - Glad to read that you came through the medical ordeal OK.

Today is the birthday of the late singer Ronnie James Dio. He sang for Deep Purple and Black Sabbath among others.

Everyone have a great Thursday.

I was anticipating a couple pics of the work train, did I miss them?

When we lived in Minneapolis, my old suburban was captured on Google Street view. It was parked next to the road in a parking lot for our apartment.

My jaw dropped when I saw it there, in the foreground to boot!
It's only been one day but I'm checking daily to see when the view is updated. As I said, the street view for it currently is 10 years old. My address was just a lot that wouldn't break ground for 6 years and the neighbors house was under construction...

The satellite view is not much better. It shows an empty lot but the neighbors house is finished. It actually shows a small for the neighbor kid had had on the property when we started to work on the land so I am guessing the satellite is 2018-2020 some time. In fact I just noticed the rear fence the neighbor put up after he moved in is there and his house was built around 2019-2020 IIRC so the satellite is from 2020 probably.

The map view (just graphic elements etc -- no photos) does show a house on the lot but it's not anywhere near close to the right outline.

Going to my iPhone, the Apple Maps for our address satellite view actually shows the house under construction, with 97% of the roof sheathing on, so summer 2023. Apple's equivalence of street veiw is probably 2020 or before we started building in 2021 based on the houses that are finished and the fence being in but still an empty lot.

Afternoon all,

Busy couple of days. I managed to get all 410 email addresses in our system manually converted from .com to .gov addresses. While there are scripts, I needed to do it in a measured fashion and a script would have been a slash and burn.

Weekend appears to be babysitting the youngest granddaughter, I was hoping for a quiet weekend. Nope! Never quiet with a 6-year old. She's a good kid and not really any trouble.

Not much else going on. I do get off early as I worked OT last night, so that's a plus.

Willie: Sorry to hear about the lose of your friends.

Update: My credit union wouldn't accept fourteen cents, but they did accept thirteen cents. I really hope that closes it out.
While I was at it, I paid off my Paypal Credit balance, as well. Lastly, I have an interest-generating balance on my Best Buy card, I have the ability to pay that amount without affecting the zero interest portions, so I am going to do that. I also paid off my balance from my lab tests, and when the doc tries to order new ones this time around, we're going to go over which ones are truly needed.

I just logged in to my etrade account. It shows balance $0.00 so at some point someone caught the 1 cent balance after I withdrew everything and the statement fee that drove it negative and took care of it. I had not gotten a statement in a while and I guess their audits or something figure out they didn't need to be paying to send me a useless paper statement.

That's good. Many places either don't catch it, or use it as a revenue source.

I went out later in the morning to do my walk around the neighborhood. As I was standing on the porch a car turned the corner and started coming up the street. It had a large camera mast on top so I started waving as it drove past. The car was labeled Google Street View. Maybe I'll be immortalized for the next 10 years. T he current street view of my address is 10 years old (labeled July 2015) and shows my neighbors house being built. The house behind mine is completely missing and it appears other houses may be missing further away...

It was mid 90s today, maybe upper 90s. But there was a nice breeze when I was walking, though the sun beat down. By the afternoon some dark clouds had rolled in and since it has alternated between overcast and partially overcast alternating with blue sky. Still quite warm out though the sun is down.
I came home from work one day and found a g-map car speeding around my neighborhood. We have narrow streets with walls and blind corners and this guy was hauling axx. Women, children, and little bunnies live on this street. Anyway, he had the misfortune of turning behind me as I got close to my house. He then had to wait while I backed in leisurely.

So I made g-map. One arrow, I'm in front of him backing in. The next arrow, I'm in my carport. Face and license plate blurred.

Oh, now you've done it! I have left over hotdogs in the refrigerator!

Which reminds me, during my colonoscopy preparation my wife made Jello for me. I love Jello, but why did she put it on the shelf below the hotdogs!

The first thing I ate when I got home was two of those leftover hotdogs, no bread just hotdog!
Yeah, the studying part for the test is the worse. It's torture. I keep telling them where I buried Jimmie Hoffa but they still keep telling me I have to take this test over again. Each time keeps getting worse.

The colonoscopy itself is easy. They just ruffie me and I wake up farting.

When I went in for my colonoscopy, the experience was like something ftom the twilight zone.

The nurse putting in the iv seemed way too happy. When the fluid hit my veins, it felt like ice water flowing into my heart, I actually felt the movement.

Next thing I know it felt like I was waking from death, almost like time stopped and a very long dream happened.

I passed out and came too. Not sure how much time elapsed. Nurse chuckling to herself. I thought I died.

After that, the anesthesiologist wondered why I was there in the first place. I told him my doctor advised it. To him, since I did not have any risk factors, I shouldn't be wasting their time.

Needless to say, that was my last colonoscopy. Confirmation of my trust issues.

On a better note, I sorted most of my box cars, the new Bachmann 0-6-0, Walthers S-1, and Rivarosi 0-6-0 ran flawlessly.

Still a little jolting with the Varney. I think I will spring for new Athearn caboose pickup trucks.

Spent 2 hours running trains :):):):):)

Sleep well and pleasant dreams

I'm having my highly suggested 65 year colonoscopy in a couple of weeks. I had one done at 55 and it was clear, so I've been doing the Cologuard test since then with no issues. I became combative coming out of anesthesia and the nurses had to hold me down for a few. They are aware of what happened then, so I hope they adjust for the one coming up.
