That's actually less than I would of expected, I would of guessed more like 100K+
That’s only the hospital. Wait until the surgeon and all the other credentialed people who bill separately have sent their bills.

My son had an appendectomy in 2023. The hospital bill was around $23k but after the surgeon, and anesthesia, and labs, etc had submitted it was closer to $30k.

Did you tell her, you can never have too many locomotives! ;)

I get the same thing from my wife "more train stuff, you have an entire basement of things"
With my wife, it is my box cars she is obsessed with.

There are just two of us living here, yet we have 3 sets of dinner plates plus 10 or so misc plates of special interest,

On top of several platters and serving dishes.

Not to mention the totes of seasonal decorations.

You would thing a few dozen box cars would pale in comparison to the household doo dads...

Howdy, railroaders. It's 4:00PM MDT. Temp officially 101 deg F at Denver International Airport. But only 100 in the southern suburbs. Not bad...for August! Wonder what it will be then? Fortunately, we have A/C, but it's too hot to take the dogs for a walk. Our 2-1/2 year old Cocker Spaniel got really shook up by 4th of July firecrackers, and more on the following two days. Affected his digestion and night sleeping habits. Vet says it's most likely PTSD! In spite of the breed, a gun dog he would not be. Wonder if the prototype railroads are having rail expansion problems.

When it gets that hot here, the freeways begin to buckle.

The asphalt is supposed to be 3% air in the base coat and 4% for the wear layer. I used to run those tests, some asphalt plants could be a little sloppy...

The air helps with expansion issues

Fireworks:

Our dog growing up was terrified by fireworks (and thunder)

Would tremble uncontrollably. We would put her in the basement, helped a little. That is where I slept too

I went out later in the morning to do my walk around the neighborhood. As I was standing on the porch a car turned the corner and started coming up the street. It had a large camera mast on top so I started waving as it drove past. The car was labeled Google Street View. Maybe I'll be immortalized for the next 10 years. T he current street view of my address is 10 years old (labeled July 2015) and shows my neighbors house being built. The house behind mine is completely missing and it appears other houses may be missing further away...

It was mid 90s today, maybe upper 90s. But there was a nice breeze when I was walking, though the sun beat down. By the afternoon some dark clouds had rolled in and since it has alternated between overcast and partially overcast alternating with blue sky. Still quite warm out though the sun is down.
