I’m cross posting this since there is more traffic here than in my layout build thread.

In this area, I think I'm gonna move the two lower level tracks to the aisle side of the layout. I want to have some switching in this area. With the building on the aisle side, I’m sure an arm or two will collide with the building over time. I would like to avoid that.

Any suggestions? Leave the lower level where it’s at or move it?

A small sheet of clear plexi attached to the front edge of the layout at the building location will at least force hands and arms up and over that. Avoid protrusions on the building like antennas and lightning rods, and put any vents or chutes on the side of the roof away from the front of the layout.

Remarkably interesting stuff, thank you. My sisters collected 45s, but I never did. I wish I had those 45s. It would be fun to look through them. I can still remember the green case with a white handle they kept them in.
I wish I would of kept all my old albums. I had 100s at one time. I had all the good classic rock albums. Not many 45s though. I
had them all in those thin plastic sleeves to protect the covers.

When My wife and I moved into this house and we combined all of our CDs into one collection I figured I wouldn't use the
records anymore. Regretting that now.

When I first came here, there were three times the current number of banks and CUs to choose from. These banks had multiple branches including branches in supermarkets and Walmart, when it opened. Over time, everything was consolidated. Three branches became one, no convenience banks, fewer ATMs etc. The Covid Lock down, showed banks they did not need the already downsized facilitys they had, and employees liked coming to work and not having to deal with customer problems in person.

If I go to the local branch, more than once a year, outside of using the ATM, it's for an unusual or unsolvable problem. Much of my banking is automated. Less stressful that way.
A lot of my banking is online. My main CU is in Massachusetts. Been a member since 83 when I was in HS. My wife’s CU is local here. But the branch is 20-35 minutes away. Thank goodness for the nationwide CO-OP network. Most of the myriad of CU here are part of the CO-OP shared branching network and almost every one is part of the CO-OP ATM network.

I use one of the local branches for whatever CU as a shared branch if I need cash or deposit a check. Or transfer quickly between them. Everything else I do online. Makes it nice.

I have a few things I pay online where they only let you store one payment source and occasionally the money is in the wrong one so I have to go do a transfer…

But I’ve not really seen any CU or bank close branches. If anything they’ve opened new ones in the last 5 years.

The only thing that went away was the “Credit Union Service Center”. It was a standalone stand-in branch that served any CO-OP member. At least around here they closed all the service center locations 7-8 years ago or so. I guess too many other local CU did shared branching.

I remember having an Isley Brothers record when Jimi Hendrix was playing with them.
I never knew JH played with the Isley Brother, thanks.
81 here today, podiatrist appointment this afternoon, so I will run some other errands while there this afternoon. Gotta drop a couple of locomotives in the mail on my way out, will probably leave early enough to have lunch in Conway as well. Lawn guy is mowing right now. When we decided to move here, we wanted a small yard and wound up with a place with 2 acres!
Looking forward to having kids around in sports again, as our g'niece Nataley will be playing volleyball this year. Don't know if Lucas will make any teams around here, so that might be iffy til next summer.
81 here right now, heading to 88 with rain likely.

I have 3 45s (records — I have one of the other 45s, an H&K). 2 from the New German Wave group “Trio” that I bought at Lerches in Stuttgart when I was in HS and we did a month exchange. And a 45 for the theme of “Chariots of Fire”. Also purchased at Lerches.

Something is nagging in the back of my mind just now that I had a few others when I was in HS. But I don’t remember. Cyndi Lauper “Time After Time” and Lionel Richie “Hello”. Could be a phantom memory. I could be an LLM.

Time to go in a late morning big walk. 9:35am now. One sensor already show 89F on the N Wall and the ERV shows an input temperature of around 83-84F on the S wall. Blue and slightly hazy and sunny. Should have gotten up earlier but I was tired.

Have the “Final / Culture” interview in person at the local place I’ve been interviewing at at 2pm today.

Need to get back in the saddle on a side gig I’m doing as well as a course I signed up for and paid for. (Long year long if you do an hour or two a day — faster if you do more).

He played as a session musician with them in 1964 on three tracks; the two-part single "Testify", "Move Over and Let Me Dance", and "Have You Ever Been Disappointed". He went by the name Jimmy James and was not credited on the original recordings. He also toured with them as a hired hand for a few months in 1964. In 1965 he also toured and recorded briefly with Little Richard, but was fired from that band.

I would not want to sacrifice my curve radius on the mains to move those tracks to the front. It's always possible to install a 2 or 3 inch guard to the front edge if you are worried about stray arms and elbows.

Uncoupling will also be easier in the front.
This curve would still be wide. As you can see, I still have plenty of real estate to work with. Zoom in on the second pic and you can see. I do love a long straight section though! I’ll do a mock up tonight and see what I have. Thanks.

DA DA DA! is probably one of them

DA DA DA! is probably one of them
The two A sides are

"Anna, lass mich rein, lass mich raus" and "Bum-Bum"

I also bought the LP (their original) which has "Da Da Da" on it while there. (And since the trip, but still long ago, I bought a lot of their albums)

In case anyone is interested this is what he was referring to:

And here is one reason it became famous in the US:

Here is the Bum Bum song I mentioned:
(Bum is pronounced boom)

Trio's producer was Klaus Voormann, who did stuff with Manfred Mann, the Beatles, and others.

Mike. I understand how you feel. I lost many things after my divorce. Including a lot of cash, my HO trains, (I had not yet caught Lionel Fever) my Christmas tree, ornaments, the house, the Lincoln Town Car, the furniture, and other things, But I managed to gain full custody of my daughter, my dog Mickey, and my service truck.

Through the bargain I also kept my albums, my sports cards and my 25inch Zenith floor model TV. She hated that TV. Other than that, I was all but broke. She believed I got the short end of the stick, but not me. The peace I felt in my nearly empty, rented townhouse was priceless. My mistake was not taking the trains, but they were packed with Christmas stuff. I still miss those other things, but as my then 15-year-old daughter said, "it's only stuff daddy"

We went through a major reboot of our (wife and I) lives beginning in 2012 and lasting about 8 years, almost all of our albums and CD's went during this period of turmoil in which both of my parents passed away and I went from 30 years of self employment to working "out".

We sold our home of 18 years and moved into rented digs, moved 6 times, settled the parents estate, was threatened to be sued every week for a year, and finally came out the other end.

Now, for music we do Youtube and Sirius XM. We have a Bose in the house connected to Sirius and get a good collection there. Works for us!

It looks good as it is...placing industries on the outer edge allows them to be the focus for detail and operation, with through trains for background. Careful placement of (powered) switches and uncoupling magnets with fascia mounted control, will minimize arm - scenery collisions. Remember, you can bump out the outer edge in the area of the scene, if necessary to provide more room.

Good afternoon, all! We had plans for a Costco run today, but 70% chance of rain made us a little leery of going. The wife has some trouble walking, so not running in the rain.
The conversation regarding 45's and albums made me go digging. There is a plastic storage box with appprox. 200 to 250 45's buried in the closet. A photo of the albums.

In the process of looking for records I found an old video camera including tapes of my daughter's wedding 2001 and son's in 2002. Not sure what is on the tape in the camera. Trying to see if the batteries will take a charge.

STAY SAFE
LATER
