Well, howdy there internet peeps.

Best wishes for David's Grandson. Hope they locate the issue and correct it quickly.

In other news, wife is heading to Indy today on a 2 day business trip, so the cat and I are carless bachelors for the next two days.

Labs came back. I'm in the clear on everything. Some highlights:

Yes, I'm on Statins. They don't bother me the way they do to some of you.

The A1C was the one I was worried about with all the donuts. My fasting glucose was 90, and in the green.

Once the wife is on the road, who knows what I'll do today. Maybe I'll shower. That might be a good idea. ;)

Good morning. Prepping for the 7 minute driver to the dentist! Appointment is at 7

David, best wishes to the grandson and your family

Troy, when I read carless my brain registered careless. Trains and being on the patio are safe things to do when the SO is gone

I can’t get my blood pressure chart to print!

I’ll be back

And the comets indicator reminded me that I've been wanting to change out the headlight bulbs for some of the bluer ones to match my eyes.... well, my eyesight. I'm not at the cataract surgery state yet, but I'm having difficulty seeing at night when driving.

Who's got the blue bulbs and do they make a difference at night?

Good Morning All. Clear and a cool 73°; forecast is for 103° today. Four day cool spell starting tomorrow with highs only in the low-90's. Still no rain in the forecast. Well, we finally broke the triple digit threshold yesterday with 102°, but with a humidity of just 19%, it didn't feel too bad. I still didn't do any work outside!

I got the new ceiling fan assembled and mostly installed yesterday in the guest bedroom. Uninstalling the old one took just 20 minutes, but there was no assembly/installation instructions for the new one. Supposed to use the phone to read a QR code on the box and get them that way, but I am not good at looking at that small screen for things. Much of it I remembered from the previous install and I found what I needed on the Internet that was easy to read on the 19" monitor. I only stopped when I did because it was time for a visit to the pool prior to making supper. I just need to set up the remote control coordinates and do the final hanging later today.
Picked over 20# of Tomatoes yesterday. Unusual because I usually don't have Tomatoes this late in the summer season, but it's been a cooler than average July. There's still a few dozen green ones left on the plants.
It's the weekly grocery trek today, I have to put some "kiddie" stuff on the list since our granddaughter will be coming for an extended stay next week. Afterwards, I will finish the ceiling fan installation.

No train shed time yesterday as I was busy otherwise. Hoping to get back out there today.

Patrick - We normally see 20 days a year with temperatures over 100°, but as recently as 2022, we had no days that warm. Then there was 2011, when it was 100° or above for 71 days.
Hughie - I just got my Texas DL renewal notice, apparently I am still eligible to do it online. They sent it 6 months before it's due!
Karl - Congratulations on the publication.
David - Prayers for your grandson.

Everyone have a safe Thursday. Keep it cool.

Here he is looking around as I opened the carrier:
That is a beautiful cat! He might be cool to take to the game store, black cat, and all. Are black cats associated with wizards or just witches?

Len - May he rest in peace
Thank you Hugie, I should have posted that as well.

Between MR, Scale Rails (the NMRA mag) and RMC close to a dozen in the last 20 years. I do it totally freelance when I get inspired.
You could publish a collection of your articles; I'd pay a few dollars for that.

Prayers for recovery, please keep us posted.
My thoughts exactly @NorthBrit

I have decided not to sell the house so with that I started cleaning up replanting all the flower gardens.
It looks great! I see you have been busy. I was wondering where our Amazing Sawl was.

Outstanding young man!

To be honest, I was worried about you too! Pizza Pizza 🤪

My grandson loves Little Caeser's. He told me it was his favorite. I told him he can drive us to get the new Fantastic Four pizza. I want to try that and he can get whatever else he wants. I know he and my wife will want bread sticks.

My grandson's favorite pizza is based on nostalgia. His dad often bought Little Ceaser's (cheap) pizza when he was little. We will see what he says after we eat Friday. I doubt it can hold up to the Pizza Hut Meat Lovers we had last time or Vinny's cafe. I'm not a huge fan of Italian food, but my grandson is! I enjoy seeing him and my wife happily eating.

In this neck of the woods blue or red lights are strictly verboten on the front of a vehicle unless you are a fire engine, ambo or police. Road crews, tow trucks, plows all use yellow or green or both.
I do have a pair of Stihl goggles that I wear when using the chain saw, by chance one night I tried them one night when driving and I couldn't believe how much better I could see. Something about the yellow lenses.
Both of my S10s have LED light bulbs in the headlamps. Brighter whiter light over the stock Halogen.

Good morning all!

A very pleasant day for a change. Its currently 64F heading up to a high of only 76F. Looks like mid to upper 70s for the rest
of the week.

Have to run out and get a haircut this morning.

Last night I spent quite a bit of time in the train room continuing on with my mountain project. Tonight will probablyjust be running
trains. I haven't done that in a while.

Not much else going on in my world.

Have a safe day everyone!

I meant the "bluer" daylight bulbs instead the standard yellowish ones. Think color temp, not hue.

The cold front is now located across Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Indiana. The cooler air is starting to work its way in, but has not affected dewpoints at all yet. Temp here is 74°F and dewpoint of 74°F. I had planned on cutting grass today, but with the cloud cover and high dewpoint it's going to be wet all day. Maybe tomorrow. Dewpoints are still running in the mid-60°s behind the front, dipping into the upper fifties into extreme northern Iowa. The really dry air is still quite aways off yet.

Running trains later today.

Smoke haze is covering Wisconsin. It should otherwise be a nice day. Unfortunately for my COPD suffering spouse she has hit her inhaler already this morning. She went out to check on her planting beds! She’ll probably need the inhaler again when we return from brunch.

Both my appointments this morning (dentist and GP) went well. The Novocain is wearing off and I even the lab vampire was gentle this morning!

Because of the smoke haze after brunch we will stay home. Any overnight trips she wants may happen Sunday or Monday. Better off at home with her COPD and the smoke then being on the road with the haze.

Troy, none of our cars have used the blue hue LED bulbs. Just daylight color. After my cataract surgery I still had a bit of night driving issues but not as bad as prior to the surgery. While I love the light that my car provides for me, I truly dislike the LED bulbs from the on coming traffic. The technique of looking at the center of the hood does not work for me with the new bright bulbs. Pick up trucks are even worst.

I’m off to the train room as I need pictures for the next few Front end Fridays for her and posting on Facebook!

Enjoy the day

Not off the top of my head but, check these guys
headlight experts
Thank you!

Okay, I see what you mean. I still don't know if they will help. 🤪

The LED conversion bulbs Karl recommended might be a better bet for you. If they are truly five times brighter as they claim to be, Help me out here @kbkchooch

If you do go with the LED conversion, consider getting the Warning Cancellers / Capacitors especially if your car has a headlight bulb failure warning light.

A warning canceller/capacitor is an inline electronic module. They are designed to prevent error messages and flickering when you install aftermarket HID or LED headlights in modern cars.

Five times brighter or not the LED conversion kits are too rich for my blood! I buy $5 Chinese bulbs from Amazon. I can't tell the difference from $20 OE bulbs.

Other than buying annual Lionel Christmas Cars and other miscellaneous items I have done well with my self-imposed spending freeze. Up until now I have not spent more than a little over $100-$150ea in five years.

I just blew that!

I could no longer resist buying that MTH Premier Conrail Bicentennial GG1 I've been watching on eBay.
