This just in,

George Kooymans, guitarist and co-lead singer of Dutch rock band Golden Earring, has passed away at the age of 77, after a long battle with ALS.
Sad news indeed.

This song would have to be included in the soundtrack of my life. I'll skip telling you why because as I said this is a family forum. This song comes so close to the truth it is chilling!

"Somewhere in a lonely hotel room there's a guy starting to realize that eternal fate has turned its back on him.
It's two A.M."

"The night weighs heavy on his guilty mind
This far from the borderline
When the hitman comes
He knows damn well he has been cheated"

Louis. Write the stories down. Don't let them disappear in the mist of time.
They will then be read by future generations and not forgotten.
Many if not most I am not proud of. But I think you are right, I should write them down.

I think you're right, then Hardee's got merged into Carl's Jr sometime there after. I worked a Long John Silver's in high school. Corporate store, not a franchise. Sadly, it's a shell of it's former self as well.
Is Long John Silvers even still around? The 2 restaurants in this area closed a while ago. Used to be one of my
favorites.

They had the best Hush puppies, and I would always ask for an extra dish of "crumbs" and they would gladly
give it.

I think all of the Hardees have also closed up around here.

Good Morning All!
54F @ 78% pretty clear. To be upwards of 85F later.

Geesh, went to the local dickhead rental store inquiring about a Tamper. $100 delivery, $280 for a day. We are about 3 miles from the store, so $100? Would not let us put in Bronco or Expedition for reasons unknown. Asked around if anybody had one we could borrow - nope. Someone suggested just driving over the crush many times with the tractor, but it was decided that there would be ruts/channels in it and not be consistent. Going to be 2" blue board on top of the crush and with the weight of the concrete we could have bending/breaking problems. So Maria, bless her heart, checked Amazon - brand new for $460 including shipping. We are going to need a Tamper again when the garage/shop pad is done, so saving money right? Should be here before the 1st.

My damn 'check liquor' light came on again....

and

I have been trying to get over my addiction of chocolate, marshmallow and nuts. I am not going to lie, it has been a Rocky Road!

Mike: When we were OTR, found for the most part that Hardees was East of the Mississippi, Carl's Jr West. Same menu items, different store name. Spotted a Long John Silvers somewhere in the Southwest and put 70ft in the parking lot; raised a lot of eyebrows. Other than that, have not seen a LJS in quite awhile.

A lot of times it can better to just buy the tool instead of renting it.

Rental pros wanted close to $350.00 to rent me a air compressor, roofing nail gun, and air hose for 2 weeks since we were doing it ourselves (this was 19 years ago) .I went to Harbor Freight and bought the compressor, hose and gun for around $250.00 and I wasn't on a time crunch
to return it and get charged for another week. That nailer and compressor did my house, my shed twice, neighbors shed and my parents house.

When I did my hardwood floor I went back to HF and bought the flooring nail gun since I already had the compressor and hoses. Multiple people
have borrowed that nailer as well.

We had two, but one closed. The remaining one is Long John Silver's/Taco Bell. The one that closed was Long John Silver's/KFC I don't get it, and I haven't been to either one.

Gino's used to have good fish fillet with fries. Anybody ever heard of Gino's?

Arby's has a good fish sandwich we will buy occasionally during Lent when we are on the road.

I love the way my wife prepares fish fillets in some kind of oil and or butter, seasoned with lemon pepper.

Now I want fish. I'm a spoiled b...

I’m almost positive Carl’s Jr and Hardees have always been the same company, they used different names in different areas due to copyright laws.

One of the local LJS was in with KFC. The KFC is still there, but LJS vanished a few years ago.

The other that has been closed for 10 or more years was a stand alone restaurant

Never heard of that one or even seen one in all my travels unless I just never noticed.
They still around?

No. The Carls Jr parent bought Hardee’s a long while ago. They were please until that time.

Some Hardee’s were switched to Carls Jr. While there are legal reasons in Canada for Carls Jr it mostly comes down to which one had the stronger brand in an area. Also the Hardee’s management didn’t like the “edgy” Carls Jr advertising.

There used to be Hardee’s restaurants here in Utah and were switched over to Carl’s Jr a little after the switch long ago. But I remember when they were Hardee’s.

The Wikipedia articles for them outline it.

Good afternoon! My sleep schedule is shifting again; I just got up about an hour ago. After getting an unusually solid nine hours. It's currently 94F/55% out here on the patio, which is still enjoyable for me (I'm weird, I love heat as long as it's reasonably dry).

Burgers and fries were very yummy yesterday. My sister makes massive numbers of hamburger patties all at the same time on a tiny little weber propane BBQ. I don't know how she does it. Her french fries were decent too, but not as crispy as anyone would have liked. Oh well.

And cake. Oh yes, the chocolate cake...

A good evening, in any event, but it's always exhausting over there with their three huge rambunctious dogs and two kids...

Geez, I thought the trading card craze had died off already.
Nope, it's just not all sports figures anymore. It's all about Pokémon now, at least if you ask my nephew.

I think you're right, then Hardee's got merged into Carl's Jr sometime there after
I love Carl's Jr., no matter how bad it is for my tummy. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately?) they just closed the one right up the street from me. Nearest one is now 30 minutes away. :(

But I digress...

Not much going on today yet, but I'll probably get started on the train room cleanup. I also need to get back to planning the layout; I have vague concepts that I need to turn into something a bit more concrete so I can plan the benchwork. Long road ahead on that.

I predict that it will be a boring but productive day.

Have a good one, folks!
