Afternoon all,

Slowed down a bit, finally.
Tomatoes doing well for me...finally. Picked 25 over the past 4 days. I pick them every other day. One yesterday was as large as a large softball. The yellow ones are finally slowing down. I am also getting some of the small red ones from the Jelly Bean tomato plant the neighbor gave me.

My big disappointment is the corn, but I haven't planted corn since I was in 6th grade. They aren't quite filling the ears they way I expected, but it is more of an experiment. I am thinking of enlarging the space in the fall with plans for corn next year. It was a kind of space filler anyway.

Apples are getting close though and any peaches still on e the trees are about 3 weeks out. There may be 6 of them.

Everyone have a good night.

Afternoon All,

Started out at the VA for a contrast CT followed by my second shingles shot. The good news was that both appointments happened early.:) MOH and daughter took the rescue skunk to his forever home today. While he was here, he was very unhappy. That was probably from him leaving his home and family. Poor guy.:( After getting home I cleaned up the area he was in and took down the enclosure. After that I ended up washing towels and throw rugs.

Terry- Your co-worker is lucky.

Mac- Interesting find.

Troy- I wouldn't want shots in my eyes either.😲

Willie- Hard to believe Jagger is 80 years old.

David- Interesting trolly.

Sherrel- Have fun in your meeting.:D

Guy- Great photos. No chewing or snuff. I did smoke but quit back in the 80's. Nothing since.

I hope everyone has a good night.

How come the Tomato plants are almost all duds, and it appears that the Zucchini plants may yield one yellow zucchini, but the corn over by the bird feeders is growing like Gang Busters? Inquiring minds want to know.
Joe - Since I don't know all of the facts surrounding your garden, I'll venture a guess. In order to flower, plants need phosphorus, the second number in commercial fertilizers, ie. 10-20-10. I use bone meal, an organic substance which is 0-10-0. I balance that with blood meal for nitrogen, 10-0-0 and wood ashes for potassium, 0-0-5.
Tomatoes are also particular and the night time temperatures must be between 60° and 75° in order to pollinate. And since they are self-pollinating, they need wind to rattle the flowers about or a vigorous shaking by hand each day.
I hope that this helps.

Patrick - Today must be gardening day!;) Each and every silk on a corn plant must be pollinated by the pollen from the tassels. Each silk is attached to one kernel. Corn pollen is carried by the wind, hence plantings work best when planted in "blocks" as opposed to single or double rows. They also work best when the silks are pollinated by a neighboring plants pollen, although some small amount of self-pollinating can happen. Here again, wind is needed or a good shaking about mid-morning works. While not usually necessary, artificial insemination is possible by cutting a tassel from a plant and gently rubbing it on the silks of several other plants. Repeat a couple of days later and so on. A pollinated silk turns brown.
Good luck next year.

Watched the Phillies score with two out in the bottom of the 9th to beat the Birds; I thought about Louis "crying in his beer"!
The Orioles left nine runners on base! That makes winning an uphill battle in a close contest. I'll give it to the Phillies pitchers for stranding those base runners and for their hitters not rolling over in the ninth.

Felix Bautista was unavailable to close the game. He needed rest. That is Cano's fifth blown save.

No need to cry over a regular season game. Except for the last game of the Orioles' 1982 season and the Orioles' last series of the 1989 season. I still don't like the Brewers or the Blue Jays.

YUK -- Just swallowed another "horse pill" - only 8 more days at three times a day.
Actually - I don't feel that I need any more of them, but I will play the game!
Good man, always finish any antibiotic prescription. Unless otherwise directed by a doctor.

This is an unusual growing season here. I'm in agreement with the fertilizer. Most nights the night temperature has been in the upper 60s. We have accepted this year's crop as a dud. I was just surprised that the corn dropped by feeding birds was doing so well. Then again, we are more likely to have tomatoes from the plants that grew from last years plants. Funny how that happens.

I was born and raised in Poland. Send greetings to your wife from me, Hungarians and Poles go way back. She's probably familiar with the brotherhood saying about Hungarians and Poles. If it wasn't for Hungarian help at the end of WW I, the consequences for Poland would have been different when Red Army invaded and almost surrounded Warsaw. Centuries ago Kingdom of Poland was also blessed with Hungarian Queen, young woman with a heart of gold and she's still celebrated in Poland to this day.
My grandparents came over from Poland in 1913. I still have that Peasant Polock Heritage.

You can bet they will give their best effort! Hitting is not as easy as some guys make it look.

One thing that has not changed about baseball is good pitching still beats good hitting.
But they lost 6-4 👎 The only consolation is that Tampa Bay is losing badly. Didn't notice Toronto, would hate to see them sneak up. Mets losing to Yanks 3 -1 in the 5th.👎

Welp... wife is frustrated.

CCS says they've faxed prescription request to the endo Doc....

The endo doc's office says they're getting faxes for other patients from CCS, but none for wife's mother are coming through...

Wife is at a loss at how to fix it... Neither side admits it's their problem, and MIL has less than two weeks until her sensor dies.

They put her on the sensor because she's got "fragile" diabetes... meaning she peaks and plummets fast. As in county deputies have found her driving in the median on the highway got out and foot chased her down, reaching in to turn off her car. She felt herself fading, tried to pull over but never found park... 3mp down the grass. Fortunately, she pushed the window down button ...

So, wife knows it can be very problematic for relying on finger sticks to keep up with the blood sugar.

Question for those of you using, or a family member using the stick-on blood sugar sensors: Can you purchase those without going through Medicare/Medicaid or your insurance? If so, where do you take the prescription? Doesn't sound like the type of thing CVS or Walgreens stocks???

I think that the real question to ask the assisted living facility, is how did she get out to drive in the first place?

Sorry. Wasn't clear. That incident was well before she moved into the community. She's not on lockdown, but has sold her car.

the driving incident was to show how fast she plumets with her blood sugar. Doing fine after a finger stick at home. Driving into town to go to the bank and errands, and bam, she's fading.

That's why they put her on the arm sensors and e-meter readings.
