I have been eating English muffins the last month. I miss bread though but haven‘t had any store purchased white bread in over. 2 years. I have a good handle on my a1c and my carb count. English muffins while not the best choice it’s better then white bread

Deli meats I like Deluoso the best. The most over rated IMO is Boars head
My A1C is not where my doctor wants it. Until it improves, I'm avoiding carbohydrates. I go back August 9th. I'm hoping the increased medications and diet right the ship.

Other than my favorites, Esskay and Land O Lakes cheeses I couldn't say what other brands are good or bad. My grocery store, Redner's has its own brand of lunch meats. Their domestic ham is good, and their German bologna is great!

Come to think of it, I haven't come across a good deli roast beef in years.

Try not to worry about your job. A good man never has trouble finding work. I'll bet you find something better!
I'm still working, it was my boss that got let go. Yes, there is a 401k, but thats about it.
I failed to say this in my post "if something happens."

I doubt anything further will happen. In fact, they may turn to you to take over for the boss.

Good evening from Camp Swampy, where it's 85 and getting dark.
There was some excitement today in the shop, when a technician somehow managed to blow up a tire on a motor home. Literally, blow up, as in catastrophic destruction, with pieces of tire, wheel cover, and motor home being flung far and wide. The technician suffered two broken bones in his arm, and several broken bones in his hand and fingers. The tire in question had a max inflation of 80, so he must have had nearly twice that in it when it finally let go.
So, we're now down another tech, and I'm expecting a visit from some Suits in the next couple of days.
I'm sorry to hear about your technician. He is lucky to be alive.

Was it a radial tire? Radials are dangerous to inflate because as you know the casing often shows no run-low/flat damage until it fails.

I always liked to use remote clip-on inflation chucks with built in gauge in my shops. Safety cages are good too, but often get skipped to save time. As a consultant I recommended these things, but not everyone listens. "it's just tires"

I remember an old Firestone safety bulletin. It said a 10.00x20 at 100psi can explode with 23tons of force if something fails.

You are right about the suits; they are gathering already. They will be looking to pin this on somebody. I can hear them now "he/she failed to implement and or follow company safety protocols" That helps the lawyers argue against negligence.

Well i'm Eastern European and i have been in this country for over 30 years. Trust me, no ethnic group is immune from stupidity😆
Mac, Terry was only referring to the old stereotype. Not any particular people.

You are so right, there is more than enough stupidity to go around from all ethnic groups.

My wife is Eastern European, Hungarian. Where are you from?

I was born and raised in Poland. Send greetings to your wife from me, Hungarians and Poles go way back. She's probably familiar with the brotherhood saying about Hungarians and Poles. If it wasn't for Hungarian help at the end of WW I, the consequences for Poland would have been different when Red Army invaded and almost surrounded Warsaw. Centuries ago Kingdom of Poland was also blessed with Hungarian Queen, young woman with a heart of gold and she's still celebrated in Poland to this day.

Good morning, out on Long Island today and looking to be warm day. Here's some interesting details form my trips. This is former Lehigh and New England wye at Bath, Pennsylvania and i've never seen this cast car stopper until that day:

It deffinitely saw some action:

Next is a pretty looking (factory?) building next to L&NE mainline grade in Danielsville;

And some steam action on Strasburg RR

Strasburg steam taken on June 16, Lehigh and New England shots in early April this year.

I’m sure the “suits” are so concerned about the Tech that they are coming to make sure he is ok and if he needs help just ask! Yes, I know, in my dreams…

Doubt he has a job when they leave

Well, howdy there internet people, and those with tires.

It's Troy again.

got the first typo report in, with only one typo! Either the editor did real well, or my beta readers are sleeping while they read.

Yesterday, took mom to the optometrist. Figured out her sneaky motivation when Doc came out with her and said that people who had cataract surgery rarely need glasses updated in their 80s. The artificial lenses don't deteriorate or change shape.

And then he said she was griping about getting the macular degeneration shots in her eyes, which she's been going through for the last five years or so...

Yeah, I'd be tired of them too... but, being blind is not good. And she'd end up in a nursing home instead of her senior apartment.

As for the Mother-in-Law, wife almost has it straightened out. The major disconnect was from the endocrinologist who knew the upgrade to the insulin pump and sensor was coming. So she wrote the prescription renewal vaugly, thinking the CCS company would do either or as appropriate. NOPE! Not correctly worded. Trash it.

The consultant at Medtronic was helpful in straightening out the SNAFU. Wife has to call the Endo this morning and explain why there are two requests from Medtonic/CCS for sensors... Enough to get MIL by with the old software on the pump, and then one for next month when she gets the upgraded software.

One more day, and it will hopefully be straight.

And I take my mom back to the ophthalmologist for a check-up next week. Normally I let her go back by herself. I might go back just to let the doc know she's grumping... Make up for all of those times she made me go to the EVIL DENTIST ( in the 70s, we didn't have good ones like we do now)

I have been following my carb count daily since January of 2022. Everything I eat I log in my online journal. Also my weight, my steps for the day, weight, calories and my blood glucose numbers. The BG numbers automatically register into the journal with a time stamp. All this has greatly helped me get my A1C in range. Just before Xmas of 22 I started on the Ozempic journey. It has helped the weight but it’s really done great for my A1C and diabetes as it’s intended to do. Once a week for the shot and I no longer take Gliperzide, my Metformin dozage is down to 500 once a day after dinner/supper from a daily 2 pills of 1000. Hopefully at the end of this quarter my labs will indicate I can eliminate the Metformin. Additionally I was taking a low dosage of rustovalim for blood press and that is gone.

40 carbs for breakfast
40 for lunch
75 for dinner
30 for all snacks

No carry overs, if I only have 25 for breakfast I can’t eat those 15 elsewhere

After about a month It wasn’t too hard, after 3 months I knew what my normals foods would give me for carbs

Good Morning All. Clear and 76° on the back porch. Ongoing heat advisory and triple digits throughout the ten day forecast. No rain in sight. Burn ban is now officially in effect for our county, however it is limited. I can still burn trash if I use a "burn barrel", and grilling is permitted. The greatest concern is cigarettes tossed from cars into the overgrown drainage ditches.

I see that the "Strike through" bug hit my post again yesterday. I still don't know why that happens, as I don't use it in any posts. It's been corrected. I have gotten lazy after not experiencing it for a while, and I haven't been going back to check after posting.

Today I head out for a pair of upper body sonograms. I have another pair on Friday for the lower body. Unfortunately the tech did not have room in the schedule to do all four today. Fingers crossed that the following person cancels and he can do all of them today.

I made it out to the train shed yesterday, Mostly I planted more trees before deciding to run trains. I started the tree planting next to the Stone Bakery.

The overspray of IPA on the dull coat actually worked out and looks like natural weathering.

Karl - Quite unsettling about your coworker Bob. Was he redundant, or did he give them cause? In Texas, there is a penalty period for unemployment if you're fired as opposed to being laid off.
David - "Your jobs are safe" is always a sign of trouble ahead in the corporate world.
Tom O - "Spilled the bottle of thinner" - Been there, done that!
I've been a carb counter for a few years now. I don't keep a journal or anything. Metformin is down to 500mg a day and latest A1c is 5.2. I do cheat on the carbs and carry over, even exceeding them at times. My regular beer is 11 carbs per 12 oz bottle, so I count one as snacks and two for dinner. Rarely have more than that, but many days it's just two.
Curt - Skunks are on my next list with Mini Prints. I like his offerings. I've gotten squirrels, raccoons, armadillos, Longhorns and some other stuff in the past. That was one of Bernard's Longhorns that I replaced the leg on last week.
Louis - In my opinion, there is nothing better than some good whole wheat bread. I pay extra for the whole wheat hamburger and hot dog buns.

Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones is 80 years old today.

Everyone have a great day.

Good morning from the south deck in So Central WIsconsin, where I don’t believevI will be sitting much longer. The weather app said possible T-storms at 7:45. I definitely can hear the thunder rolling above me. I have the furniture cushions except for the chair I am on in the house. Usually when I dipo that the rain misses but I don’t think looking at the radar we can be missed. It’s 76 now heading to high 90’s and if we truly get rain, it will be muggy.

Lots of dog walkers out as they try to get their walks done in the dry. Lots of interesting sleep clothes wandering the neighborhood! I am now on the loveseat inside as the last boomer

seemed close and the raindrops on the IPadPro have sort of given me a hint.

More weathering today. Yesterday morning was for packaging. Then in the afternoon and evening sessions I worked on tape masking 15 diesels after I inspected and then cleaned them. Today I will do the panel lines and then the clean up. Adding the panels lines may take 15-30 minutes each diesel, the clean up possibility double that. So to the 2 hour timer will be set the minute I sit at the bench. I plan to have no eye strain or back problems. I will have my 3 sessions in there today, morning, afternoon and evening getting in getting out. Tomorrow I will work on other projects before going back to the diesels on Friday.

I doubt we will do the “normal” farmers market and Wednesday breakfast out. It is now raining

enjoy the day

YUK -- Just swallowed another "horse pill" - only 8 more days at three times a day.
Actually - I don't feel that I need any more of them, but I will play the game!

70 degrees heading to 98 again which morphed into an even 100 yesterday - I believe that that is our first for the year?

Hey there, FLO - The spousal Unit got me soused yesterday afternoon and into the evening - then we forgot to grill a couple of nice ribeyes - long story short - I am humgry this morning and praying that MEL will do me up with a large garbage omelet with a diet DP?

Watched the Phillies score with two out in the bottom of the 9th to beat the Birds; I thought about Louis "crying in his beer"!

I have to do some "catch-up" reading this morning. Along with the board, I have a meeting with two home owners who ar still squabbling (including one who is throwing trash over the fence into the others yard) - along with an arbitrator to see if we can squash this problem.
It's sad that it is against the law to just shoot some people!
The meeting is set for 4 hours at 1:30 PM.
