Good Morning All. Clear and an incredibly low 63° on the back porch. Upper 90's today after just 92° yesterday. The Weather Underground station around the corner is still on the fritz this morning.
It got fixed about mid-morning yesterday, but has returned to Arctic conditions.
Great visit yesterday with my #1 daughter, SIL, and granddaughter. It does amaze me though, that they have an in-ground swimming pool, but one reason that they came (besides the tomatoes) was to use ours? SIL explained that theirs was 94°, while ours didn't get above 86° yesterday. Granddaughter has learned to play chess and I beat her, but just barely. I'm a bit rusty as I haven't played in close to 30 years. I do use it as an opportunity to explain looking ahead and other strategies to her. She was being helped by her Mom, giving her an unfair advantage.

Afterwards, we dined at our favorite Italian place, which at 12 miles away is the closest non-Mexican place to us. Fortunately they are great and a few steps above the other Italian place in town .
One of the highlights for my granddaughter and SIL was when we were leaving for supper, the resident armadillo was standing less than 10' from them in the yard. Neither had ever seen one in person before. Took the armadillo a few seconds before realizing that they were there, they're actually quite blind; before it scooted away at a rapid pace.
Needless to say, I did not spend any time in the train shed. Hope to remedy that after church today.
Hell! I don't know what to post today, so here's a couple more pictures of my Longhorn neighbors.
Louis - Many anti-virus programs will tell you that a site is unsafe if the site has not upgraded to "https", even if there is nothing wrong with the site. At least that's my observation. Maybe
Patrick can chime-in.
David - Is there any passenger ship that you don't have a picture of? Keep them coming; I enjoy them.
Tom O - Your gold and silver friend is correct that it doesn't really ever lose value, but in my observation, it doesn't gain in value as well as stocks or even treasuries. I do not own any precious metals except aluminum cans for recycling!

I am quite surprised that you and Terry didn't already have an IRA, although if the 401k was going well, it's nearly the same. Far less restrictions though with any IRA, one of several reasons that I rolled over. To reiterate what
Vince posted, make sure that the rollover is from one custodian to the other custodian, and that it doesn't touch your hands in between. One of my brothers learned this the hard way when our Dad died in 2005.
One unfortunate sidebar is that starting this year and increasing in the next two years, I will have to take RMD's that will put me into a higher tax bracket than I was ever in while working!

After paying the taxes, I will most likely invest heavily in treasuries. Tax-free and guaranteed.
Sherrel - Quite a difference in different governmental agencies and their response to the citizens. PBGC obviously is run by people
more incompetent than Social Security. When our bank account was compromised and we had to open a new one, SS re-routed the direct deposits in less than 15 days. Might have actually been sooner, but that was where we were in the cycle.
Good Luck.
BTW Has the ranch been sold yet?
Troy - Good to read that your MIL is doing better.
Everyone have a great day.
