Good morning from a still crispy morning in So. Central WIsconsin. It is a cold 64f degrees now and only 59 at the 5:20AM start to the walk. I started the walk in the neighborhood. I headed to the post office which is a mile away, over past (did not stop) the McDonalds to one of the State’s walking trail/bike system things. Heading north went another mile or so. Popped into a connecting neighborhood and found my way through that to the current neighborhood. Just under 15,000 steps per my IPhone health app! I kept my light jacket on the whole time. Normally after the 1st mile I am warmed up and don’t need it. Chilled the whole time from start to actually getting into the shower. I hope I’m not getting sick…
The plan today is just get some out of the house time together with Terry. We are still having major issues getting appliances for the new kitchen. We had cancelled the orders in May and we have 3 stores we are going to visit with tape measures this afternoon and tomorrow. But this morning at 11 we are heading to a closed restaurant that is being remodeled and their appliances are for sale. Someone in Terry’s horse riding Crew has a family member who is a chef and is redoing her restaurant. If we can find a stove close enough (finally) to fit Terry’s now modified wants the cabinet maker will adjust the surrounding cabinets.
The countertop guy has everything cut except for the area around the stove. Prospects of finally moving in are getting better. New furniture ordered in January and February are due the 2nd week in August. The bedrooms are ready for furniture. The owner’s suite (politically correct BS on the plans says it’s no longer the “master” suite) is ready but we are using that stuff here. Except for the kitchen and 2 bathrooms the house is ready for us. Those bathroom fixtures should be installed next Tuesday and the contractor said he scheduled the tile guys for Thursday and Friday. Without a finished kitchen though the building inspector will not sign off for occupancy. The contractor is hoping to do a checklist walk through August 12th. Much better than sometime in October a couple months ago. I said goodbye to my golf simulator yesterday. It was disassembled to be moved to the new place. They will start to install it Monday and hopefully it will ready on Wednesday.
The landscapers crew was here this past week. They did some cleanup and prep work for the grassy areas. They checked the irrigation system and told Terry the hydro seeding crew will be out in the next couple weeks. Nothing for us to do except stay out of their way. They will show when they have time. They can seed now instead of the scheduled November because we have water available.
Finally the train room and slot track. The daughter and her best friend have 70% of the framework installed. The building inspector ok’d installation in the lower level as he is calling it “non essential construction”. The friend for her helping efforts is getting a slot track built by me with lots of their help. The design has been done and the framing materials cut. She also has the 23/32” plywood sanded one side on order from a local lumber yard. HD was a total pain to deal with and couldn’t tell us the number of ply. Menard’s who I hate but they were much more accommodating except for lead times for 6 sheets. The local lumber yard was great and will deliver to her house and unload into the garage. They also will take back anything unused if not cut. I always order extra sheets, in this case 2. Everyone else would put it uncovered in the driveway and HD said no returns. Once it’s there and I inspect the assembled framing I will draw out the roadbed on the sheets and her and her hubby will cut it out. Then my work really begins! Drawing out the slots and routing them will take time.
enjoy the day
