Change of plans for the week.

I was leaving this afternoon after 4PM for golf in Nova Scotia, Canada. 8 of the 16 that are playing have been in Winnipeg golfing the last few days and are pretty sick. 3 are in the hospital, all 8 were in the ER on Friday. Not quite sure what happened and the brother didn’t know when he called me about an hour ago. So the trip has been postponed. He asked about coming here and I mentioned the smoke haze. He said he’s not sure if he should come here for a few days or head home to Maui. He said he’s in Cave Creek and it’s even too hot for him.

The smoke haze here is no where near as bad a couple weeks ago when the Air Quality readings were above 240 for like 5 days in a row. But, the smell is very strong and I don’t remember that! AQ reading per the weather app is only 97 but Terry is experiencing some issues.

Good afternoon. Out train chasing today and first time exploring Martinsburg, Virginia and its rare fully covered roundhouse:

Picture of a picture and these beautifull beasts apparently frequented the area back in good old days:

Today i cought this ugly thing on an eastbound Capitol Limited:

Things got more interesting west of the station where MARC has storage tracks:

Beautifull summer day to be out in the open today.

Afternoon All,

Started out with a walk at 78F and humid. We just had a band of showers come through that didn't last long or put down much rain. I did several inside chores today and ran trains for about 30 minutes. I just can't seem to get motivated to do anything.

Terry- Nice video.

Louis- Nice paint schemes.

TomO- Don't get me started on the insurance companies. Sounds like you dodged the sick bullet.

Joe- Nice loco photo.

Willie- Great structures.

David- Neat video.

Mac- Great photos.

I hope everyone has a good night.

She is pretty!
To each his own;) to me it doesn't even look like locomotive front, more like a bus or something. They have also experienced some problems out on the road, electronics too delicate for real world use. The bean counters take this "green energy" way too far. At least with only 4 cars trailing (one Viewliner baggage and three Superliners) there shouldn't be any problems since trailing Genesis will easily bring the whole train to destination in case od failure.

Why did trains stop running on Howard Zane's layout?
2 reasons. #1 Howards health. He has had some health issues that limited his access to the basement at times. #2 is the eventual drop off in the "Wednesday night crowd" of which I was a participant. When Covid hit that really kicked it in the ass. I would love to go back to every Wednesday night, but life keeps getting into the way.
Track maintenance, cleaning got out of hand. Al has evidently gotten some of the track cleaned!

Afternoon all,

Plans changed, granddaughter wasn't feeling good, grandson didn't want to go without his sister, so everyone stayed home. Got the hall prepped for painting, or at least the first coat of sparkle in place. Light sanding and taping, should be good to go shortly.

Took a 2 hour nap as I was just too whipped for whatever reason. Had Deadpool on while I napped and I've seen it a ton of times.

Gotta make the Chimichangas!

Good evening fellow diners! A beautiful smoked filled day in So. Central WIsconsin that had Terry puffing on her inhaler. The AirQuality got up to 128 per the app but is down to 65 right now. Me, just some weathering and lots of phone call making.

My brother will be here in a couple hours. There will be at least 10 of us converging on a golf course tomorrow possibly 16 While it won’t be as wild and crazy as Nova Scotia would have been or how it was here in early May it will be fun. The course we play tomorrow and Wednesday are ones we played in May so the magical score/gambling ( they call it gaming) keeping computers they use will work as the courses are programmed. I am relying on my good friend to get us on another local course but since I am not a member nor is he we need a member to sign us up. He is working on that. So for the golf courses 2 of 3 are handled. Hotel rooms until I got a manager to call me back were a nightmare but I got 13 rooms and I knew roughly the rates but Terry checked my credit card before dinner and I got a 40% discount off the published rate and 3 nights free the use of the banquet room. Dinners though will be from the menu. I know, it’s a tough life.

The brother still didn’t know why the guys got sick in Winnipeg but none of the players there are coming here. They all though were going to Nova Scotia till they got sick.

Seems the son will be here tonight along with another pilot and 2 co-pilots. They will stay with us. They are bringing the rest of the golfers from wherever they are to here. When I spoke to him before dinner he was in St. Louis and heading to Nashville and then here. He also said his uncle hiring him this afternoon “made his month”. So he is thrilled. He also on Thursday will return them all to wherever they want to go. For Tuesday and Wednesday both planes are booked through VistaJet so they will still be busy.

I love the pictures of the ships and trains

Good evening. 75°, cloudy and foggy. Today's rain has moved off the coast, and tomorrow will clear with a 90° forecast. The "Coastal Flood Watch" was taken down early, and again no AQI warnings.Total measured rainfall today was 1.18", which helps.

Sunday dinner was left overs, Chicken cutlets and baked beans. Different, and not really bad tasting. Just not two things we generally mix.

I did get some work done in the train room. I still have 20 cars to rebox. I also need to update my inventory spreadsheet. Switched some cars, and ran a passenger train. Too many unfinished projects = too much clutter.

Found a U-tube documentary on the Harrisburg (PA) Bureau of Fire. Looks interesting. Something to look forward to tomorrow.

Have a good night.

Harrisburg PA Hose Wagon # 4 at a working fire. Wonder who is protecting who? These modern rigs are so much better than what we had to work with in the 1970s.

I'm sorry to hear your granddaughter wasn't feeling well.

I loved hearing that you took a nap!
