Forgive my ignorance, but what is a professional You Tuber? Do folks actually pay to see content? I know nothing! I only see stuff there when there is a link from this forum.

A professional YouTuber is someone who has made a career out of making videos or similar on YouTube. They make money by amassing huge numbers of followers who devour all their videos and watch all the ads Google serves up to them.

They do have paid subscribers called patrons who generally get more content for a certain amount of monthly payments.
Patrons are outside of YouTube. There is a service called Patreon that allows you to basically pay the "celebrity" whose channel you follow and get access to exclusive stuff or more stuff or just because you want to be seen on the list of supporters for that person.

Patreon is, however, separate from YouTube.

Good morning all! 63 heading for 73 with heavy rains again today. Been raining most of the night and more to come.

Probably going to try to get into the eye doctor's office today. My eye definitely isn't better than yesterday. I have to interview a work-study applicant to come work with me this Fall at 11 and hope I can get in to the doc after that.

Nothing else going on. Hope you all have a great day!

Are these some of the people known as "content providers"?
Yes. If you post content to YouTube or any other social media site, you are a "content provider"

We're all "content providers" to Modle RR Forums ;)

And, there is a "Patreon" style JOIN option for channels on YouTube, but I don't hear much about from the channels. I think I "joined" Ron's T&T channel just to toss him a buck every month. I really enjoy his vids, and he's got an extensive how-to library of modeling reference vids.

Edit: Here's a pic of Steve Brown's front page on YT: Notice the blue Join button for his channel. That's YT's answer to Patreon.

Enough so that I almost dumped my subscription to Model RRer's Video+ (2,99/mo). BUT, I'm afraid if I do, they'll make me rejoin at the TRAINS level should I want to go back. And I don't want or need all of the extras.

Comparing MRR Vid+ to the plethora of YouTube channels on MRR... I'll take YT and their ads any day. The value on MRRV+ is good, but their search and their threading of playlists SUCKS compared to YouTube. I've been trying to follow Gerry Leone's new build on MRRV+, and they don't thread his vids together over there. I have to cut and paste the video title into the search bar, and change the episode # to get to the next one.

Why they think I want to pay more for the Trains version, where there are tons more videos, with even more searching and threading headaches boggles me.

Morning all,

Late start as the wife is off today, so I could sleep in until 4:30, and then that puts me to work a bit later than norm, but still before my 6:30a start time. I was still up at 4:15 so not much of a sleep in. I'm then off the remainder of the week, but she has to work on Friday, so then it's back to being up at 3:30. Estate sale tomorrow, so I hope the train stuff is decent.

Based on these images from the ad, I'm looking into the BB stuff and some of the buildings and scenic materials. I am learning to be selective on not only what I buy, but whether I can use it or not. I've never seen the blister pack HO rail cars before, as seen in the second and third photo. There are also model plane kits advertised as well.

oh well, BBL first ticket in already...

Good Morning All. Clear and 81°, heat advisory continues later today. We expect 104° after 102° yesterday. Why don't you guys in the Midwest send some of your rain this way? I don't trust the forecast here with rain still predicted for this weekend.

As I posted some yesterday, I picked lots of tomatoes and then later made 4 pints of fire-roasted tomatoes for making meals this winter. First time for that, but the opportunity exists. Just to keep busy, I did laundry and washed dishes (filled and emptied the dishwasher). My second cantilevered pool umbrella arrived yesterday, so assembly of that is on the agenda this morning. If time remains before the heat gets too much, I'll continue to harvest firewood. Nothing requiring an extension ladder, all ground accessible. Ended the day up by grilling pork chops and corn on the cob for supper.

Thanks for the likes and comments regarding the layout progress and the garden/harvest yesterday. Too many to mention.

All of my other activity yesterday, shortened my time out in the train shed. As a result, all I got to do was paint the sidewalk around the unnamed structure.

Sadly, I am almost out of Polly S Concrete paint!

Dave/Tom O - My garden pictures aren't meant to put anyone to shame or make anyone jealous. Showing off a bit - yes. But the garden this late into the summer is keeping me out of the train shed with the care and preserving which doesn't normally last this late.
Guy - Oil dealership is coming along nicely. I like your choice of motel. It looks like every '60's motel.
Patrick - If you have the time, some of the Tyco and Lifelike rolling stock can be made into useful cars. Otherwise just stick with their structures.
Tom O - Adblock plus does not work on ads embedded in the videos, but apparently it does on most everything else. The only site that I have white-listed is this one so ad revenue helps support it.

Everybody have a great day.

Good morning from Wisconsin. It is 63f/17.2c out there under strange skies. There is nosun but the cloud layer is very thin with lots of light blue sky showing. But, it’s not a bright day, yet! The prediction is 81/27.2 and 3% chance of rain. Either it’s very very heavy dew on the deck today or it rained overnight. As I always do I checked the overnight forecast and the rain chance was less then a 5%, so I left the cushions out on my 2 chairs. Mistake! I will need the sun to dry them out so out of the shade and into a sunny spot they went. Except there is no sun! I will check if they’ve dried in an hour, if not the north deck is dry.

Ended up watching the grandson play hockey (he had 1goal 2 assists) last night, 4 seconds left and his team tied the game. They made the 3 hour trip minus mom to play and his next game is Thursday so they are home for a few days.

The granddaughter will be here around 9 is the plan. She will ride alongside grandma, 3 other adults and 3 other special needs kids. Terry‘s monthly Horse Rescue ride and feed is today. The tent that should have been up Saturday was finally started on after 8:30yesterday and they were done when we came back from the hockey game around 8pm. The lead guy on the crew said only 2 showed for work on Saturday and Sunday. There were 180 reservations already Sunday and that is a record and they are hoping for 200. Great money for the cause.

I met yesterday with the surveyor who arrived 2 hours late and that always leaves a bad impression with me. She did keep me informed by text what was happening. She did have a good acceptable excuse though and the daughter she ended up having to bring along was a well mannered just turned 9 year old. Anyway we discussed what I wanted done. She showed me a couple ideas she had based on some email ideas we had exchanged and I like this lady’s thinking. She, her crew and the daughter will be here today and since the daughter has ridden some she can join in. She will ride starting around 10 with the grandson’s pony. He definitely can ride one of the other horses because of his experience. Match maker grandma, he will be 9 in November. They will join the young adults (anyone under 16) crew on a trail ride today. She will be kept entertained and busy.

What do I do today? I stay away from the monthly event at the stables. Normally today would be the LHS run, but I did that Saturday and I stopped at Walthers on Thursday. Retail therapy did occur though late last night. I spent way too much at miniprints.com. I ordered some rolling stock I truly don’t need at MidwestmodelRR.com as the price was delicious. I ordered 4 more 2 bay hoppers and 6 more 60’ box cars that will be for weathering and sale down the road. I pulled the trigger finally at Trainlife.com the home of Exactrail. There I ordered the 3 additional reefers and 2 coils cars “I NEEDED” to fill out the fleet. Just that stuff alone can keep me busy for a few months. I have started weathering 3 cars but yesterday I accomplished little, so maybe today?

Patrick, enjoy the estate sale

Gary, you live in a beautiful area

Troy, great explanation. I am no longer a monthly subscriber to any print or video suppliers. I do send a few bucks monthly to the You Tube content providers but I am no longer a Patron via Patreon to any content provider. I was for about a year to Luke Towan before Covid struck. I use the thanks $ button in the menu bar

I love the garden pictures as does Terry. She just wishes she had the production you are having this year. Keep posting away

enjoy the day

2 lb beef tenderloin. seared 10 mins on the grill, then 30 mins at 400 F . Internal temp was 135F. Medium rare. Tender & very good.

For all you non-gardeners out there, remember this is the season.... Lock your doorsView attachment 149214
It is true if I could not con my chickens into eating zucchini I would be unindated, the ducks will nibble if cooked, the chickens eat the seeds first then when bored the rest.I thought about offering some to the food bank, but then thought a polite no thanks would be sooo embarrassing.
