A sad day, back in December I seen some cat tracks in the snow. After seeing them a few days my wife put some food out because of the cold. He would eat at night and go shelter some place. As the weather got warmer he was staying around more and using the pine trees for cover. The past week or so he was coming up to us when we were outside. As much as we would like to keep him with 2 cats and a dog it would be a lot. My wife reached out on facebook and found a lady that would take him and he'll be going to a shelter to get some shots and a good checkup from a vet. He's allready neutered as his ear is tipped (catch and release). As sad as it is to see him leave we know it's the right thing. Too dangerous here with fox ,coyotes, and raccoons. He left this morning and 2 people are interested in giving him a home. He always liked laying by the angel which broke my wife's heart.

I had a feral cat almost identical to that one. Got it from an animal shelter. It stayed outside and kept control of the moles in the yard. I would feed it a little to keep it around but to make sure he was hungry enough to hunt. I could leave him on his own for a few weeks at a time in the summer when I would hit the road on the motorcycle, but he would still be around when I returned. Didn't need anybody to check up on him or feed him. Somehow, he contracted rabies and died a few years ago.

Boris, I forgot about the Shingles vaccine, I have not gotten that one. Its not deadly or contagious is it? Pain I can live with, what's new?
Supposedly, the virus that causes Chicken Pox, is harbored in your body, and eventually manifests itself as Shingles among a percentage of adults who never had chicken pox. The vaccine, is supposed to prevent or at least lessen the effects of shingles, which are very painful.

Medicare, will cover the vaccine if administered at a pharmacy, but inexplicably not at a Doctor's office. Other Insurance may or may not cover it.

The wife had to get the Shingles Vaccine prior to beginning Rinvoq for her RA. It's administered in two doses, 30 days apart. She had an adverse reaction that keeps reappearing periodically. It is a rash, somewhat like Chicken Pox, but not quite, and is very painful and debilitating. It usually lasts for about 10 days...never had this before the vaccine. It's been almost two years now, and it still reappears. I was going to get the vaccine, as it is strongly recommended by the CDC and my Primary. Also because my father had an outbreak of it that was quite painful. However, due to the wife's reaction to it, I now will take my chances.

Happy Independence Day, enjoy your annual bash! Don't over indulge. ;)

Afternoon All,

Started with outside and inside chores then vacuumed the ground cover I put down yesterday and was able to recover about 1/2 of what I used. I touched up 3 or 4 spots then put down the fine gravel. I thought I had another bag (nope) but with what I recovered I was able to finish the job. Not sure what's on the agenda for tomorrow, but probably putting A&I on everything. I hope I correctly measured for the mine outdoor stairs.🤞

Thank you for the photo likes yesterday.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY

Greg- Very sorry to hear your news. Take care of yourself.

Willie- Forgive my ignorance, but aren't the jars supposed to be filled to the top to get rid of the air?

Dave- That's a great scene.

TomO- Because of their incompetent AC techs the AC company we bought a AC from, had yearly service contracts, and called for emergency repairs for 10-12 years lost us as a customer. Of course they don't seem to care.

Terry- Follow your gut feeling, it's usually correct.

Guy- That is a nice color. I use a lot of craft paint but don't spray it. Wow, loved the Black Sabbath reference! The blue tape was to protect the area where the fine gravel goes while doing the sand ground cover.

Ken D&J- I quit going to a dentist for that very reason. The last straw was I had the first appointment of the day and it was still an hour late.

Tom- He sure looked comfortable around you. If you couldn't care for him then you did the right thing for that good looking boy.

I hope everyone has a good night and stays safe.

The media's selling of covid to increase advertising revenue is disgraceful. Since the pandemic my Mom has not left her apartment six times.
For over a year the fist thing she told me when I called was the covid statistics.
My Mom will be here with us again today. Last 4th of July she came early and closed the party. She is an amazing lady! I miss taking her with me grocery shopping.

All we can do is get the vaccines, wear the mask and keep our distance. Life must go on.

Willie and Curt, we would be honored to have you both. Another reason to advocate for high speed trains! 😉

Any reason is a good reason to advocate for trains in my book! 😁 Why is it the crap special interests get the most money? Oh never mind.

Save the the trains! 😉
I'm not a huge fan of southern fried rock, but they do have some great songs!

Happy 4th of July Everybody! Today is also my late sister Theresa's birthday, I miss her so very much.
Our celebration is our way of thanking God for our family, friends and we thank God I was born in Baltimore, Maryland USA USA USA!!!
God Bless Us Everyone.
I love it when people are proud of their country :D
Many of my family were born in Wales, I was born in England, and I am English to the bone. You have a good right to be proud of being USA.

…..so sorry some horrible person bought a gun to the occasion I hope all of you and those you know are safe.PS I do not blame the gun, that type of person could just as easily have used a vehicle or a knife, and they do :(, there are all types of crazy around the world at the minute, do not let it spoil your day, July 4th and the USA I am glad to call them friends, have a great day USA USA USA….little whisper UK UK England!!!!! Grins.

Expansion, is required for the jars, the heat sterilises it making it safe, look at any jars in the shop always an expansion gap,hot water needs more room, then when it cools v.c.c.u.u.m.

Tom O & Willie- when friends & family asked why I moved up here, I jokingly said, “Wisconsin doesn’t get hurricanes”. I moved up here 2 months before Sandy & went back to back up a trailer the weekend after Sandy hit(delayed a week, because my buddy from Toledo who helped me load up, took the wrong weekend off of work).

I was fortunate (or not) to never get mumps, measles, or chicken pox. My siblings did, but not me. I do show by blood test as having had them, but no symptoms. In my case the Dr's office gave me the shigrex shots as they were covered there by insurance but might not be fully covered if I waited for Medicare to cover them.

I used to laugh at the "I've fallen and can't get up!" commercials, but they aren't as funny after I hit 60...

Amexit. sounds like a bank. Then the US does tend to bankroll so many other countries, shame they do not get paid back with interest.

Good morning, all. Happy Independence Day.

Greg - Hope you feel better soon.

Having a tooth pulled is so passe. Extraction, a big word meaning they can charge more. My last, was $250 per pull, I mean extraction.
I love him nanooo nanooo so sad how his life ended.

Or after 50. 🙄🙄🙄

Good morning all! 76 degrees here heading for a hideous 97 with heat index around 109 today. Gonna be a miserable day, temperature wise. Back to work after a 3 1/2 day weekend.

Hate to say this, but seriously considering not doing a garden next year. With the lack of rain on a regular basis we wind up having to water several times a week. That's about 120 gallons of water a week going on the ol' water bill and the garden still isn't doing well for some reason. About the only things growing well are the onions, some of the potatoes, a couple tomato plants and a couple other things. We usually have great luck with corn but it's kinda stalled out after starting off strong. The green beans are starting to look a little better but very little else is growing well. In addition to all that, the watering and other related chores pretty much consume our evening every day. I enjoy the garden, but the last couple years it's just not been worth the effort for the most part.

Nothing else to report. Hope you all have a great day!

Morning all,

After 4 days off, it's Monday!! and Tuesday Mondays are usually the worse. So far not bad. Currently 80° and partly cloudy. A pop up storm hit befor eI got to the office, which figures as I finally washed the truck yesterday. The touchless wash is only good for getting the heavy stuff off (hence no wax at the wash). I spent more time with a bucket and rag on the truck just to get the fine dirt off. Truck is a navy blue and shows crap like black does. The Equinox got the same treatment. Which reminds me I need to get the oil changed on that beast this week.

Ken (OBTC): I didn't do a garden this year for the same reasons. Just too much work for what it is. Get up at 3:30a to leave the house by 5:00ish a.m., get home at about 5:00p, make supper, clean up the kitchen and then by 6:30 it's nearly bedtime.
