Afternoon All,

Just back from the Jurrasic movie which was pretty much a repetition of all the others (story line). I actually have a headache from the sound level. Son figured out this was the first movie in 4 years for us. I did "plant" the skunks on the layout. Next up is ballasting the coal mine tracks. I should start on it tomorrow after some outdoor chores.

Thank you for all the photo likes yesterday.

Terry- I did a online search but just found a hobby shop that looked geared to RC stuff. Lake Wales is about 60 minutes from me.

Joe- Nice video. Is somebody else taking over?

Mike- Great meme.

Ken D&J- When you're retired every day is Saturday except Sunday.

Ken (IL)- I hope everyone gets well soon and you stay healthy.

Troy- Just tell your wife she dreamed it.

Willie- Very nice job on the billboard.

Guy- The oil dealership is going to be very nice. Like you, after 21 years in the military I have zero need to prove my patriotism to anyone.

TomO- That is so like every pet.

Hughie- Great lighted scene.

I hope everyone has a good night.

THe loco arrived a day early!! Thank you Brown!! Awoke last night at 0230, tried to get back to sleep but no joy there. So went down and unboxed it. Purty!

Is somebody else taking over?
Curt: An organization called Chesapeake and Delaware RR, a holding company that operates numerous former CR branch lines in NJ and NY. The operating company is to be called the Delaware and Raritan River, which is a knockoff of the old Delaware and Raritan Canal Company.

Initially, the new operator will interchange cars for South Lakewood at Red Bank, which will require a Conrail crew to bring them down via the Coast Line. The other line taken over, the Freehold Secondary, will Interchange with Conrail at Jamesburg. Eventually, when a 5.5 milesection of the Freehold is returned to service, (between Howell and Farmingdale), the move over NJT to Red Bank will end, and all traffic will interchange at Jamesburg.

I'm sure the photographers will be all over the new railroad once it actually starts operating. Rumored power will be a couple GP-10s.

The wait begins. Inside this pressure cooker are 7 quarts of homemade spaghetti sauce. 30 pounds of tomatoes, 1.5 lbs onion, and a few handfuls of basil and oregano, all from the garden. Mushrooms, garlic and other assorted spices from Kroger.

Tomatoes were cut up and roasted in the oven,, four pans like the one below. Then run through the food processor

As soon as the timer goes off and I turn off the heat, it's pool time. I've been doing this since 10:00 this morning with a half hour lunch break and a 45 minute nap. Only one knife cut on the left index finger.
I actually made 8 quarts but only 7 fit in the canner. #8 is in the fridge to be used next week.

I had Covid once already and it was definitely worse than a few days of feeling malaise.

Each person feels it differently and the different strains also react differently. Let's hope this time around in your home is less serious than you felt before!

We had one confirmed round in our home in January (wife tested positive and we were all sick). I had it the worst. We had another one a month or two ago. Everyone was sick but me. Nothing really bad. Yet some people really feel it deeply and heavily.

As Chad says, it effects different people different ways. I had the original version of COVID. Had the low blood oxy levels, viral pneumonia, slight fever a little over 100, lack of appetite, dizziness at times and of course the feeling of malaise. At 72 I think I was supposed to die or something, but I didn't. When the fever broke, I got back to being busy and went outside and trenched in my downspouts to route the water out to the woods. Yeah, felt weak and got winded pretty easy, but the objective was to get active again and not let the Wuhan Virus get me down.

Good morning all,

Ken, guess we were thinking the same today.

Had a deer at the salt block this morning, they are really skiddish around here, the slightest movement and they are off! Neighbor feeds them, I hear. I think putting out a corn feeder is a bad idea, however do not have the science to back it.

Tom - that is a beautiful sunset picture. Red sky at night, sailors delight!

My decals came yesterday, they look great and only took a couple days to get here.

included vendor info in case anyone is interested. Total cost was $70, can't remember the breakdown but he had to create the image in the proper format, whereas I supplied several sample images, dimensions, and my concept. I have 2 warehouses that they will go on, should have extra set for something.

Also, worked on track last evening, will put the ties in as part of a separate operation today. This is one of the areas where I added an insulated joiner (already had one done correctly) and also another set of feeders:

this is the backside of the layout, across from the sawmill. An area I was putting off. Will be working on the railroad some today, also cutting firewood. Also, our church is having a float in the Finlayson 4th of July Celebration, will be working on that a little. Sounds like we may have rain on Independence day, however.

Willie - that is one big tomato project!

Steve - beautiful locomotive!

Maybe back this afternoon -

Good morning and where is the early Crew? No overnight posts which is unusual.

Ken, sorry to read about the wife getting Covid. I just am getting over my bout with it. I still have a unrelenting cough and headaches. Miserable and everyone tells me I should be happy about the vaccines and the 2 boosters I had. It would have been much worst. I missed the 5 day window for the pill treatment, (Terry did get that) but the infusion of a large drug name definitely helped me.

Tom in Cambria, great picture of the sunset.

It is 53f degrees in So. Central Wisconsin. 11f degrees cooler then the same time (6AM) yesterday. The high today per the Weather Channel app will be 83. Even though we hit 89 yesterday, I have to say it was one of the most comfortable weather days I can remember in the last 4-5 years.

I relaxed yesterday except for my daily walks. The morning walk is back to 2 miles but I really have struggled the last 1/2 mile. The evening walk is 1 mile after dinner outside or on the treadmill. I still am experiencing a slight headache and a reduced by medicine cough. Didn’t even walk into the trainroom. Heck, I didn’t even visit my cave unit after 9 last night. I spent most of the day outside. It was that nice out!

Today we will do the unneeded stops at the 2 Wednesday Farmer Markets we attend. It does get us out of the house. Then a breakfast stop and then home. I want to try to get to my bench today and at least do some priming of parts. However it has been so nice outside it’s just hard to stay inside. I did ride the trails yesterday in the ATV. I am definitely still weak from my surgery and the the Covid bout. I did promise to join the Saturday afternoon horse ride and picnic with a group that Terry rides with every week. It’s a group of about 20 and today they try to lure the hubbies along. With the summertime vacation plans everyone seems to have Terry is hoping that 10 regulars and their SO’s show up.

Enjoy your day

Good Morning!

Out-of-town company is visiting, so just a short, photoless post. Fairly constant rain is kinda ruining the visit. Everyone except me went down to see the fireworks in the wet weather. I went to bed.

Tom - I had to look on the map where Cambria was located. Seems like we used to be neighbours; I once owned some land in Bancroft, on the other side of Lake Ontario.

Steve - Love the RS-3. Well done.

Willie - I'm glad my wife has taken over the garden. I never did enjoy the work of the harvest and preserving. All I need do now, is the soil turn-over and heavy work. She does all the rest, and seems to enjoy the effort.

DaveB - The decals look great. Thanks for sharing the decal source.

Well, gotta go entertain company. A trip to Hard Luck Canyon today, so they can see our only known waterfall. There used to be a rope down to the bottom; now there's a nice winding staircase. The county has turned it into a tourist attraction. I'll take some photos to share.

Gotta go. Have a great day!
